50 First Dates.

So I went and saw 50 First Dates tonight. I think it was a pretty good movie. It was damn funny but had a serious side which I like. It wasn't all complete humor and gross out humor like Sandler's early movies. It was more like the Wedding Singer in it's humor.

But overall it was really funny.

Especially Rob Schneider. God he was hilarious as usual. And the Walrus was pretty cool.

I've hated every film Adam Sandler has been in bar The Wedding Singer (and Punch-Drunk Love, but I was severely disappointed and that was only okay in my opinion). You saying that this is similar in its humour to The Wedding Singer makes me raise an eyebrow and think maybe I wouldn't have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the cinemas to see it. Now all I need is some more positive reviews before I'll say "yeah, I think I'd like to see that".

It kept me laughing throughout...and the ending was nice. Sandler's best straight up comedy since Big Daddy.

 

A nice solid *** movie.

Haven't seen it yet but I want to just to judge Rob Schneider's pidgin. He was ok from what I saw in the commercials but you could here some of that language without a land coming through.

 

And I like movies with Hawaiian based idea's and stories.

Oh and Sean Austin was in it.....and he was fucking hilarious. God that guy is fast becoming my favorite actor.

Saw it. Loved it. Schneider and Astin were great, as were the plot and the end. Great V-Day movie and movie in general.

So I just watched 50 First Dates.

 

Solid movie, almost the typical Sandler stuff, but has some good emotion in it and Sean Astin is hilarious. I actually liked this better than most of his efforts. Check it out.

I wish Sandler did a movie like Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison again. Those two movies were some of the best stupid movies ever, Billy Madison especially.

 

Nothing beats Sandler dancing down a staircase to Culture Club.

I think his problem with most of his movies going flat now is that he tries to relive some of that. If it had not been for Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison, he probably would not be where he is now. Those two are definately names in that genre of comedy. Things like beating up Bob Barker or the immature acts of Billy fit with the characters in those movies. Now, in his movies, if he gets stuck, he resorts to a random crude thing or just beating someone up. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this movie when I have seen it and I haven't seen a Sandler movie I loathe, but I think that is part of his "staleness", is he tries to recapture what cannot really be recaptured at this point.

I saw it, and I don't even think I cracked a smile. I'm not a big Adam Sandler fan, but Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison at least made me laugh. This movie was mind numbingly unfunny.
