The One and Only NASCAR Thread

I still think it's contrived and fucking stupid as hell. In fact I think it completely killed my interest in NASCAR. All the other crap in NASCAR aside, a run of the mill race in Richmond is now bigger and more hyped than the Daytona 500. They killed the Southern 500, a race on the schedule for more than 50 years for a cookie cutter night race in Fontucky. And last year (Or '04, my mind is slippery), EVERYONE was all pissy that Jr. and Gordon wouldn't make the Chase and that they should contrive it even MORE to let them in. Fuck you, they didn't race well enough to make it in, so they don't belong there.

Sorry if I sound like I'm trolling, but I'll take Schumi and Alonso deadlocked with 2 races left over a phantom "debris" yellow flag any day of the week.

The main thing I dislike that their biggest race, the Daytona 500, is really meaningless compared to a bunch of races.

I'd just end the "season" with the Daytona 500 in February. Give it double or triple points. Really make it seem like the most important race.

Dale Jr said that he didn't think Vickers did it on purpose cuz "he's not that smart". lolz

Jeff Burton's flat tire really tightened up the points.

I saw the end of whatever race they did at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday. I can't believe Tony Stewart can win 3 straight races just because none of the guys in the playoff want to mess up their spot in the standings and go after a win. I have to say, any sport where you're rewarded more for trying not to lose than trying to win is one I don't want to watch.

It's possible that if Johnson DNF's this race someone could catch him. Jr. being the farthest back who still has a chance in hell.

NASCAR's been back for a minute now, let's get this topic rollin' again.

Kevin Harvick won Daytona......and nothing worth a fuck has happened since. The sweetness of that finish at Daytona won't be duplicated this season. I kinda felt bad for Mark Martin.

Right now Matt Kenseth is my getting most of my hatred. I hope he wrecks today. I'm sure there will be 15+ cautions, so hopefully he's in one of them.

While dining in Knoxville last summer I was approached by a few locals who thought I was Dale Earnhardt Jr. It was a very strange time. When I go back in June I will bring a Sharpie along.

Also, yee haw!

This must mean you are a middle aged lady magnet.

Kevin Harvick FTW.

When I was doing programs at California Speedway, his race team let us go in the garage. Rusty Wallace was a fucking dicksucker.

I want to hear about Wallace?

So the drivers' complained about track condiditons in Las Vegas. Guess what guys, the fans would rather see crashes than a boring 4 hour race with nothing happening.

We were selling programs for the football program at my high school, because the speedway gave out a nice 20 G contract that the program could use on new helmets and shit. Anyways, I shed my program bag back at the booth at about 9 of the morning of the race so that I could go look around with some buddies (mostly to look at the women they had in the pits), and I didn't think it would be a problem since they gave us an all-access pass, and a pit pass just in case. About an hour before when we were snooping around, Roger Penske bought a program from me, so I thought it would be ok if I went in the Wallace garage area when we went back (since there were, like, a shitload of people back there doing whatever the fuck they pleased).

We get to the pits and have no problem getting through the pass-checker, so we meet up with some of the guys who were already back there selling the programs. They tell us that we should go see Rusty's pit, that he was talking to everyone that was standing there. We get over there and go check out what he's talking about, and then I get bored and go do some other shit. We walked back over there about an hour later and he and his crew had us thrown out of the pits. Then, as he has someone cart us out, our coach walks by. Let's just say that we ran for about 2 hours on Monday. It's not like we were doing anything wrong.

My dad had got tickets from some guy at his work (and I was going to bail on the program selling during the race anyway), so after they took us to the parking lot I had him walk in from whatever you call the trailer shit where they have all the displays and advertisements to give me one of the tickets. It's a good thing he was there, or I would have been sitting in the parking lot until about 4. I walked past everyone during lunch after I was thrown out, and they asked me what I was doing back there. I'm sure that I ran for 2 hours on Monday because I walked past everyone like I didn't hear what they were telling me.

Yeah, that was a long story with lots of run-ons. We got to see the Truck race and Busch race that weekend because there wasn't a whole lot of people there, thus no demand for the programs. We just took the programs up to the track and took a seat.

Same went for the SuperBike race earlier that year.

So....Daytona fucking sucked. California sucked. Ryan Newman and Carl Edwards are both jobbers.

So what do all the Jr. fans think of him in a Hendrick ride? I think he sold the fuck out and I hate him now. RCR 4 LYFE

Well, California (and all it's sister tracks) usually does suck.

I think the big thing to take away from the first two races is that if he can keep the fenders on the car all year, Kyle Busch is going to be the one to take on and beat Gordon and Johnson. He always had the talent, but this past six months IMO will be what turns him into a champion. You know he is the type to make it his mission to bring down Hendrick after they dumped him. He is definitely not the turn the other cheek character in the garage.
