HarleyQuinn Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 Harlequins add some speed and much needed hits(177) to the lineup as well as our only 100+ run scorer
Bored Posted March 17, 2004 Report Posted March 17, 2004 I'm confused. You didn't want Nixon because of an injury concern but you trade for Jenkins who has never played more than 135 games in the season as he almost literally gets hurt every year. That being said if Jenkins actually stays healthy he will easily out perform Winn overall. Winn is just a slightly above average hitter playing in a pitcher's park.
HarleyQuinn Posted March 17, 2004 Report Posted March 17, 2004 Last Year: Winn had more runs, more hits, more doubles, more triples, more SB's, less K's. Jenkins was better in 7 categories though in terms of BA he beat Winn by .1(.296 to .295). I'd gladly take the loss in OBP/SLG if it meant improvements in the other areas above for my fantasy team. Winn also had 75 RBI's so it's not like he was a slouch. Besides, my team has a pretty good grip on power hitters so I didn't really need a guy who could give me HR's/RBI's.
Lightning Flik Posted March 17, 2004 Author Report Posted March 17, 2004 That being said if Jenkins actually stays healthy he will easily out perform Winn overall. *sighs* ...yes, I don't know much about baseball. Did I NOT already mention this? Â I'm talking about here and now (since that's about how good my baseball knowledge is). There's a difference between willing to gamble with someone who IS hurt, and someone who has the possibility of being hurt somewhere down the line. Â Since Nixon is hurt and playing through the pain, I'm worried that he might go down right away. Unless someone hates me enough, Jenkins is healthy and should be able to go without a problem. Â Now that I've jinxed how I do things, watch as repeatedly bad thigns happen that eventually make me become even more cynical then I already am.
razazteca Posted March 17, 2004 Report Posted March 17, 2004 If you want the Gimp All Star team then get Ken Griffey Jr, Mike Piazza, Preston Wilson, Tony Armas Jr., Barry Bonds, Gary Sheffield, Bernie Williams.
Lightning Flik Posted March 17, 2004 Author Report Posted March 17, 2004 If you want the Gimp All Star team then get Ken Griffey Jr, Mike Piazza, Preston Wilson, Tony Armas Jr., Barry Bonds, Gary Sheffield, Bernie Williams. No. I want to just have a fun time. Â Even if I more or less have NO clue as to what I'm doing, besides going by stats and my basic knowledge. Â I'm not planning on winning, but at least just having a fun time. Besides, I'll be forced to watch a hell of a lot more baseball games this way.
razazteca Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Just noticed that Mark Prior will be on the INJURY RESERVE list opening day! So my trade for Nomar was not as bad as some thought! Too bad both guys are currently hurt but as least Nomar might play on opening day.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 ..alllow me to be the first to brag about my team! Â Craig Wilson - 2B, HR 1 RBI Phil Nevin - GS HR, 4 RBI Corey Patterson - HR 1 RBI
MarvinisaLunatic Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 I would say I wouldn't brag about that but I picked him up in the other 5x5 league. Hes better than Koch at least..
razazteca Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Koch 0.1 Innings pitched 27.00 ERA 3.00 WHIP Â I think it is a big improvement. And my AL team brings teh s uck.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Better than my brilliant move of picking up Damaso Marte. Still, I'm not counting him out. In fact, I should offer trades for him in other leagues and get him cheap.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 The 2 big disapointments so far in the first week for me have been Gibbons and Ensberg. Â I decided to dump Derosa and pickup Jack Wilson to play SS so I could move Cintron to 3rd and have Ensberg sit on the bench and see if he plays out of his slump. Not much I can do in Gibbons case unless I dump a pitcher which I don't want to do right now.
treble Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 None of my pitchers could even get a win the whole first week.
Cuban Linx Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I hope Lieberthal gets his shit together sometime soon, he's hitting just .100 and with Mauer on the DL my Catcher position is giving me absolutely nothing. It's a good thing i picked up Adrian Beltre, him and Mark Teixeira are about my only two batters doing anything. Â Kerry Wood putting in a strong game after posting a 7.20 ERA game 1 also helps me greatly, if Wood and Mulder are firing my pitching pretty much takes care of itself. I think i lost this matchup 9-7 though, so i guess their preformances came too late.
razazteca Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 None of my pitchers could even get a win the whole first week. I'm did not have much luck myself with 2 pitchers having 10+ ERA as starters.
HarleyQuinn Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Very disappointing first week offensively esp. Damn I need Trot and Prior back ASAP
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 What in god's name inspired you to drop Edgardo Alfonzo for Tony Womack?!
Bored Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Fear The Slayers over Rebels Of Oakland - 14:5:2 ~ I don't think this one will be close as Fear The Slayers has a more statistically proven team than Rebels Of Oakland. While I do expect his pitching staff to improve, I don't think it'll be enough for Rebels Of Oakland to stop Fear The Slayers from winning this match up. That's why they play the games on the field, bitch! Â How lazy is Yahoo? They don't put the standings in order and when I went to check the results page they don't even let you see how the final result came to be. Weak.
Cuban Linx Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 A few people predicted my team to win pretty easily, so i guess i sure showed them. Nearly all of my team underperformed, aside from Adrian Beltre who is greatly overperforming. 11 hits, 7 runs, a double, 3 homers and 8 RBI's while hitting .478 through 6 games. It won't last, but hopefully by the time he cools down the rest of my team starts showing up.
HarleyQuinn Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 What in god's name inspired you to drop Edgardo Alfonzo for Tony Womack?! I picked up Cleveland 3B Casey Blake. Alfonzo's been fighting injuries and started out poorly so I figured I'd start Casey as my sole 3B. I picked up Womack because he's the starting 2B for STL and is off to a hot start which I figure I can ride for a while. Also he's heading to Houston for the first 3 games or so which should help his numbers and Castillo's been okay so I figure I can interchange them based on matchups for the day.
razazteca Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Very disappointing first week offensively esp. Damn I need Trot and Prior back ASAP Prior might be out longer than expected  Thank you for Gracia
Lightning Flik Posted April 12, 2004 Author Report Posted April 12, 2004 Not a bad start. I'm 6th in the league, although, I think I should've been less. Â Oh well, ONWARDS~!
HarleyQuinn Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Very disappointing first week offensively esp. Damn I need Trot and Prior back ASAP Prior might be out longer than expected  Thank you for Gracia Well Prior's supposedly been throwing on the side already and the Cubs remain adamant that he'll return so I'm remaining hopeful until they officially say anything otherwise. BTW: FUCK YOU DUSTY!
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 the rumor is Prior's arm is falling off. Â (not actually falling off, that's my little term for an elbow injury requiring surgery)
treble Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 How lazy is Yahoo? They don't put the standings in order and when I went to check the results page they don't even let you see how the final result came to be. Weak. Yeah they do (unless you're talking abuot something else). Â My fucking starting pitching killed me. Not one single win, way too many hits, and a shitty ERA. Thank you, Ramon Ortiz (23.63).
treble Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Oh, and how many guys can we have on the DL at once?
razazteca Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Only one person is the limit in the public league but in this Head-2-Head league it is 3.
