Upon further review, Soriano is 28, not 26

The idea of moving teams and positions could age Alfonso Soriano. In fact, it did.

Despite realms of databases that list him as 26 years old, the Rangers said Soriano is 28. His birthday is Jan. 7, 1976. The Rangers said they were aware of the age change. Yankees GM Brian Cashman said he made it clear to the Rangers that Soriano was older than had been listed.

According to the Rangers, Soriano listed his birth date as 1978 when he was still with the Hiroshima of the Japanese League. He also had a multi-entrance visa because of his multi-year deal with New York. And somehow, in the aftermath of Sept. 11, the accurate data was never revealed. Soriano told it to the Yankees last summer.

But.. under the new rules.. Soriano's suspended for a year, right?

Oh.. wait.. they don't apply to superstars.

A year suspension for any player fabricating his name, age or nationality on documents such as U.S. entrance visas.

And I bet Puljos is around that same age as well.

If the Rangers wanted to, the deal could probably be protested and reversed if Soriano is to be suspended for a year.

And if that were to happen, I would laugh for an entire day uncontrollably.

I'm a Sox fan, but I never (repeat: NEVER) wanted A-Rod in Boston.

But just to see the Yanks slighted might make my day. I hate the uniform AND the players.

Doesn't help that most of the current generation of Yankees fans didn't have to root for those Yankees teams of the late '80s to early '90s. Man, you don't know what HORRIBLE is until you rooted for these guys. I'm hoping for an era of four years where the Yanks miss the playoffs. By a lot. Just to see what the fanbase would do.

Since the Rangers were told before the trade what Soriano's real age is, I doubt this is going to nullify the deal at all.

It would still be cool to actually see the Yankees get hosed for once though.

A Latin American player who LIED ABOUT HIS AGE?

Get the heck outta town!

I assume that ALL of them are older than they claim.
