Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 I'm still not getting the "BAKAING" stuff. It idioting sucks? After the first Lazarush at TSM, I was told by Dames to limit the cursing (since I wrote like how I really talk: extremely fucking profane), so I asked people for suggestions on what to replace "fuck," "shit," and "cunt" with. People suggest "baka" for "fuck," "chave" for "shit," and "huss" for "cunt."
Michrome 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 I totally agree. There's no beginning and no end. That's why I think 2 or 3 Sunday ppv's a year is a good thing. But who in their right mind will pay 29.95, the price they want to charge, for 2 hours and 40 minutes when they get 1 hour and 40 minutes for 10? Especially when the planned card includes Jarrett vs. Savage and Chyna vs. Jonny Fairplay, it will do less buys than the Wednesday show. At this point, the show is in such a funk booking-wise that they should focus on getting their Wednesday shows back together before worrying about a Sunday. At this point, the show is in such a funk booking-wise that they should focus on getting their Wednesday shows back together before worrying about a Sunday. I'm kind of with you, but here's the thing: Your reasoning about getting back to focusing on the Wednesdays as opposed to a Sunday ppv is based on the Shit they have booked for the Sunday ppv. The point is that I think they need 2 or 3 quality Sunday ppv's to build towards. If all they're going to do is fill up their Sunday ppv's with a bunch or Shit, then I agree - don't bother because they won't sell. Also, my idea of 2-3 Sunday's a year is not based on charging $29.95. They have to charge $19.95, maybe they could get away with $24.95, but that's really pushing it. As with everything in wretling, everything I said is based on them doing things right, which I guess is too much to ask from TNA. If they're not going to do the Sunday thing right, then they shouldn't do it.
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 Oh. Odd, but at least I get it now. I used to greatly overuse the word baka when referring to other people when I was in 7th-8th grade. Now I use it on people who DESERVE to be insulted in Japanese.

Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 LAZARUSH UPDATE: I just have the Juggalo Streetfight and Harris/Jarrett left to do. Should be up by 4.
Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted February 19, 2004 You know what would have been funny? If Tenay introduced Russo as the DOA by going HOLY SH!T NOT AGAIN! Or not... Good show, kinda dull but it was okay. I can't belive that Teddy is being brought back. Hopefully the team is him, Jack Evans, TJ Wilson and Harry Smith. Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2004 It'll be up at 5. I forgot about the Raven/Funk vs. Gathering match, and I keep getting distracted thanks to my friend Chris calling me to ask about our WrestleMania plans. Just got Jarrett/Harris left. Michrome 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Just as a comment on last week--I agreed with most of it, but I think you massively overrated the main event.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2004 Hey, it's cool. I'm a workrate mark, so I overrate a lot of matches if the workrate is there, and not too many spots are blown. The main didn't have a whole lot of blown spots, and I added a *1/2 on for how dramatic the final four falls were (even though I knew the results, I was seriously hyped for the final falls). I'm just waiting for DrTom, or whoever is in charge of the TSM main site, to approve the Lazarush I sent in.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2004 I thought it was a really good show. Nice little spotfest for an opener too. Raven is back to his "grunge" look. Him & Funk beat the Gathering when Raven hit the "Evenflow DDT." After the match, Raven cut a promo about "finding the old Raven." Pretty cool. I'd order the replay if I was you guys. I think it's worth $10. The new Director of Authority, as I predicted, is Vince Russo. Abyss & AJ Styles had some trouble with a table spot, but that was really the only low of the night. That Tracy bitch, although I have no clue who she is, is really fucking hot. Ok, I just finished watching this show. I really don't understand how you can call this one a "really good show", yet you totally dismantle and put down last weeks effort. That one really confuses me. I loved the first match on this show, pretty solid effort all around. I also loved how they waited untill the match ended clean before doing the JJ/Lynn stuff. I haven't seen but just a few TNA shows, so I don't know if things are always like that or not. I just love matches that actually end clean. I really liked everything to do with Raven (and Funk) on the show, so there was another positive. I also actually, and it kills me to say this, enjoyed ICP. It is sad though, when THEY are the most over guys that are working in the company right now, as far as I can tell. Now the Fairplay stuff. I liked what he said, but the way he said it really sucked to me. I guess I just don't like the guys voice, or the way he presents his promo, but it really just looked bad to me. The table botch in Abyss/AJ was really rough. I hope Abyss is ok, as it looked like he could have really hurt his knee the way he came down on the side of the table with it. The Diamond/Swinger stuff was good as well, looked very well done to me. The main event was a very good example of the heel putting over another talent, without actually loosing to the guy. I didn't see anything at all with what they did there. They made Chris look like a star, and JJ out to be that much more of a heel. I was actually looking at JJ as a huge heel, in the way that a mark would. The Vince Russo stuff, bah I say BAH~! He is quite possibly my least favorite person ever in the manager/president/CEO/whatever type of role. I can't stand the guy on TV, never have and never will. Not to mention, as was said before, he'll end up with JJ which will make all of this be in vain. I agree with Laz, it was a 7.5/10 show, or something near that. Nothing breathtaking, yet nothing just flat out horrible. Everything I didn't mention, I was just impartial to, and was ok with it. I still liked last weeks show better though, even if so many of you hated it for some reason.
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2004 Well, Fairplay has no flow. It's just one liner one liner one liner boom. The lines were good, but he didn't deliver them well.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2004 Well, Fairplay has no flow. It's just one liner one liner one liner boom. The lines were good, but he didn't deliver them well. It wasn't that he didn't flow that great, he just flat out sucks. It was like they just went down on the street corner and just asked some random hobo if they want to read a few lines. It came across too forced as well.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted February 23, 2004 Well, I can try to explain myself I guess: I didn't like the X-Cup show mainly because every match had something wrong with it. Of course, you can expect things to get botched when wrestlers are wrestling under that style. All the tape fuck-ups and all the botched spots really ruined the night. Mr. Aguila's outfit was terrible. I hated having to watch backstage nonsense when I watched to see the X-Cup. I hated Hector's stalling. I hated pretty much every match. The last match, which could've been decent, I didn't like mainly because anything in the match that I thought was good...I had already seen an hour earlier. I can't stand seeing the same spots week after week...let alone hour after hour. Wednesday show had a great opener. It had a good Raven comeback, and I mark for him. The Simon/Swinger was pulled off well. I even liked the main event. Basically, the only thing I didn't really like was Johnny Fairplay's BS & the bad table botches in the Abyss/Styles match. Well, Don West too. I hate him. It was also kindof upsetting that the crowd didn't care about anything at all unless it had to do with ICP. At least they were excited for that match I guess. I knew before hand that Vince Russo was going to be the new DOA, so it didn't bother me. Tracy is hot as hell, so I even tolerated that match. Basically, it entertained me on more than one level whereas the X-Cup was only supposed to entertain me on one level and failed to deliver.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2004 Fair enough. I still don't see why you weren't entertained by the X-Cup show. You just came off as much too hard on the show, it wasn't near as bad as you made it out to be. Are you a fan of that sort of wrestling other than that night, or are you usually just not into that style?
justsoyouknow 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2004 That is a sick move, by the way. Is that the "Black Hole" that I hear so much about?
Downhome 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2004 Yes, that is the Black Hole, if I remember correctly. One of the reasons I love TNA is because you see moves in that company (I know you can see them in ROH and other groups around the world, I'm just saying), is that you see moves there that you either don't see in WWE right now, or moves that you just WONT see in WWE. Just from the past two shows that I've watched... ...that's just a few that caught my eye, and something that we either don't see in WWE or will never see in WWE, under current rules (the Juvi Driver 911, I think it's called). Hell, in WWE you don't even see real cruiserweight matches for the most part.

Downhome 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2004 Man...gotta love that sell job from the ref. He acted like a bomb went off in front of him I love that too. It reminds me of the old WCW ref, who passed away a few years ago unfortuently, Brian Hildebrand (Mark Curtis).
AnonymousBroccoli 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2004 That is a sick move, by the way. Is that the "Black Hole" that I hear so much about? It looks more like a press slam, semi-reversed by AJ into a tornado DDT, reversed again into wrecking his back on the table. The Black Hole Slam is kind of like the Boss Man Slam (Boss Man stands in the middle of the ring, grabs a running opponent off the ground, turns him 180, with the running momentum, and slams him to the side). Abyss does one or one and a half rotations rather than half, and is larger and faster than Boss Man, so it looks a lot better. When you've got someone small, quick, and bumpable like Styles taking the move, it looks really sweet.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted February 24, 2004 Fair enough. I still don't see why you weren't entertained by the X-Cup show. You just came off as much too hard on the show, it wasn't near as bad as you made it out to be. Are you a fan of that sort of wrestling other than that night, or are you usually just not into that style? I usually like Cruiserweights. I've like a lot of X-Divison matches. I'm just hugely against botched spots of any nature. Seeing as how the Cruisers like to fly and springboard a lot, they botch spots more often. That being said, it's a lot harder for them to have good matches because of it. I think the biggest problem is I hyped myself up way too much for the PPV. I was telling all my friends about it, and making a big post about it over at my forums two weeks before it happened. Then the show happened, and it was just sloppy. The tape and sound were messing up. A lot of spots were being blown. I was disappointed that it wasn't just all the wrestlers running the gauntlet as you could tell it was a different tape when the crowd changed. I hated having to watch the Jeff Jarrett, etc. stuff when I thought it was going to be nothing except for the Cup Tournament. See, I didn't get to watch the replay or anything, so the tape mess ups put me on a negative level from the get go. So, then anything bad that happened was just making me more negative. Missing the finish to the first match. Wrestlers botching spots. Mr. Aguila's brown-eye. Backstage bullshit, etc. If I look as last Wednesday's show, I went into the PPV expecting just another NWA show. Instead, I got a good opener, an Old School Raven return and Scott Hudson on commentary. So, I was pleasantly surprised.
