Guest Anglesault Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 I was watching my WM XIX DVD, specifcally the Undertaker extra, when it dawned on me: Undertaker has never faced Mankind in any way at a Mania. For such a major feud that spanned like four years and God knows how many PPVs, I think that's kind of funny. Any other big feuds with no Mania?
Downhome Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 I've always found it kind of odd that we've never had HHH/Rocky in a one-on-one match at a WrestleMania.
Guest BDC Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Oh Lord, don't say that, it might happen this year thru the HHH braintrust.
Downhome Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 While they never feuded in WWE really, I always found it f'd up that we never got a Flair/Hogan match at a WrestleMania.
JHawk Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Hogan and Piper never had a one-on-one match at WrestleMania, and I've always contended that had Piper been in the cage at WrestleMania 2 instead of Bundy they'd have made incredible money.
bob_barron Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 I'm sure they considered it but Piper's refusal to job to anyone probably put the kibosh on it.
Guest Anglesault Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Hogan and Piper never had a one-on-one match at WrestleMania, They have fought though. It's not like Taker/Mankind, Austin/Taker or HHH/Taker who just never crossed paths.
bob_barron Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 I think you mean Austin v. Taker 'Sault. How about Austin v. Angle as a match that never happened at WM?
NYU Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Rock/Mankind. The feud lasted from about November 1998 to February 1999, with four title changes: Rock-Mankind-Rock-Mankind-Rock. Then, right before WrestleMania, it was dropped in favor of a Austin/Rock match. They would eventually fight each other in 2000, but I don't think we can really count the Fatal Four-Way.
NYU Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 It's not like Taker/Mankind, Austin/Taker or HHH/Taker who just never crossed paths. HHH/Taker wrestled at WrestleMania X-7. Might want to change that
Guest Anglesault Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 I think you mean Austin v. Taker 'Sault. How about Austin v. Angle as a match that never happened at WM? I'm an imbecile, that as HHH/AUSTIN. HHH/Taker wrestled at WrestleMania X-7. Might want to change that See above.
Lil' Bitch Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 While they never feuded in WWE really, I always found it f'd up that we never got a Flair/Hogan match at a WrestleMania. I heard that was the original plan (which makes sense since Flair was pretty much starting a feud with him when he cost Hogan the title at SSeries 91), but got nixed because of the steroid trial debacle.

For such a major feud that spanned like four years and God knows how many PPVs, I think that's kind of funny. What else is funny is that the feud started one night after WM12.

Might want to change that Look above NY Untouchable. Already corrected and I didn't need to use that horrible emoticon to do it. Austin v. McMahon never happened at WM either
Guest Anglesault Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Rock/Mankind. bob_barron Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Jericho v. Rock fought at 3 PPVs and feuded for a while. Never faced off at WM
NYU Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker fought several times on PPV (IYH: Ground Zero, IYH: Badd Blood, Royal Rumble Casket Match), but they never fought at a WrestleMania.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker I'd guess, since they had a big feud for the second half of 97 and into 98, but then Taker had Kane to worry about so HBK was booked with Austin. Undertaker/Rock never happened at WM I don't think. I don't think anyone mentioned it either unless my memory is that terrible.
Brett Favre Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 The Rock & Kurt Angle. Umm, I think Chris Jericho and Benoit never had a one on one. Triple H & Kurt Angle.
Guest Anglesault Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Was Undertaker/Rock even that big? I think they had two one month feuds, three years apart.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Was Undertaker/Rock even that big? I think they had two one month feuds, three years apart. Thats even weirder. Two Main Eventers for the past 5 years (in UT's case, too lnog to count) have rarely feuded.

Two Main Eventers for the past 5 years (in UT's case, too lnog to count) have rarely feuded. They've had their fair share of matches with each other. King of the Ring 1999 Unforgiven 2000 No Way Out 2002 Vengeance 2002 And countless Raw matches where JR would proclaim "My gawd, never have we seen a match of THIS magnitude on Raw before." Despite the fact the match had taken place like two weeks ago.
Guest drdrainoscott Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 I can't believe they blew their load at St. Valentines Day Massacare with the Austin/Vince match in 1999. Sure, I'm glad that we got Rock/Austin from a wrestling fans standpoint, but the Vince/Austin fued had been building for a year and was the hottest thing in wrestling ever. With Russo in the drivers seat, that had to have at least been an option.

Unforgiven 2000 That was more of two big feuds (Taker/Kane and Benoit/Rock) being shoved into one match than Taker/Rock feuding.

Well, yeah, but Rock and Taker also had their own problems leading into the match. I remember Taker chokeslamming Rock on a Smackdown or Raw right before the PPV. They may not have been feuding directly, but they were still involved in a feud against each other and fought one another on a PPV. I would still consider that a feud, although it may be a more minor case than the others. Randy Savage and Jake The Snake also had a relatively nice, long feud - but I don't recall them wrestling each other at WrestleMania.
Lil' Bitch Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 King of the Ring 1999 you mean. 98 was Rocky Vs. Kenny
NYU Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 King of the Ring 1999 you mean. 98 was Rocky Vs. Kenny Consider it changed. I suck at remembering years. Another one: The Undertaker vs. Yokozuna. Considering Yokozuna KILLED Undertaker at Royal Rumble 1994 - and we watched Taker ascend into Heaven - you would think they'd fight on the biggest show of the year. Not so.
Kahran Ramsus Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 Hogan/Earthquake & Hogan/Flair come to mind immediately. LOD/Demolition is another one that started a feud in the summer and continued through January when all of a sudden Power & Glory got moved over from their Hart Foundation feud and replaced Demolition in the Wrestlemania match.
