BlackFlagg Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Just an FYI for anyone that's thinking of picking this game up when it comes out but wanna give it a try first
Karnage Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 For those who bought it, Is it any good in terms of gameplay?
BlackFlagg Posted February 25, 2004 Author Report Posted February 25, 2004 just got done the demo...and I am absolutely buying it when it comes out
Downhome Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Well that was quick! Can you post a small review or something really quick?
BlackFlagg Posted February 25, 2004 Author Report Posted February 25, 2004 I'm not much of a reviewer...but the Gameplay was quite nice, took a few minutes to get used to but once I got it down I was busting out 30+ hit combos, heh...I was slicing and dicing.
El Psycho Diablo Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Gaiden is awesome, at least the demo is. (Combo record here: 150.) The three weapons available play differently, and require you to think about how to use them. The acrobabics are great, and there's a whole load of stuff to do.. My favorite is shooting crows off three tree with the bow. Little bastards tend to move when you target them, though.
Jobber of the Week Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Me watched a friend play, and it sucked. But hey, at least the ninja hero and shoot a blast of lightning out of his arse. That has to count for something.
Guest The Notorious CRD Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 I've played the demo and found it to be a lot of fun, but the camera was wonky and at times I couldn't see where my enemies. A small annoyance, but for some people could make or break their purchase. Just a little FYI to those of you thinking about it.
Anya Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 I am interested in the game, but fear it may be too hard. Itagaki was hyping up how hard it is...
Guest wildpegasus Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Please come out for the PS2 or Gamecube. Please. Sorry Sakura but I just hope this game is as hard as it gets because it's just not Ninja Gaiden if it isn't.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 It won't come out on other systems. Team Ninja has said several times they don't want to work on those consoles anymore.
Anya Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Sorry Sakura but I just hope this game is as hard as it gets because it's just not Ninja Gaiden if it isn't. Why not a difficulty setting? I don't understand why every game doesn't have them. Let people that like easy games have an easy time and let people that like challenge have a hard time. I can't think of a logical reason NOT to include them.

Guest EQ Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 The old school Ninja Gaiden games were a fucking BITCH
Anya Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Normal, and Hard. Good! Assuming "Normal" is not hard.
Karnage Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 The thing I hate about difficulty settings is that its more cheap than difficult in "Hard" mode.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 The reviews are up at the major net reviewing places: Gamespy: 5/5 IGN: 9.4/10 Gamespot: 9.4/10 1Up: 9/10 The game is said to be brutally difficult...and gamespy makes a funny comment about what would happen if a PS2 tried to run this game. All the reviews are linked here: http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages4/561532.asp
BlackFlagg Posted February 28, 2004 Author Report Posted February 28, 2004 and gamespy makes a funny comment about what would happen if a PS2 tried to run this game. Would that be this... Ninja Gaiden is something the PS2 never even dreamt of. It would be coughing up blood trying to run a game with graphics this good, that moves this fast, at a constant 60 frames per second
The Ghost of bps21 Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 It's out...and it's KICKING MY ASS
Guest MikeSC Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 It's out...and it's KICKING MY ASS Oh God, this game is the most brutal thing I've played in years. Only on Chap.6 here and it has just schooled me. The ninjas that appear starting in Chap.4 (I think) are obscene. -=Mike

Are you playing on the normal or hard version. How tough is it compared to some of the other nortoriously tough games out there?

My problem was I didn't conserve enough energy boosts...so I'm restarting to go through and use my block button better. Being a Ninja...it's HARD.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 Good Lord this game is hard as hell. The graphics are sweet, the gameplay is smooth, and Ryu is a badass, but DAMN is it hard. The Chapter 3 boss is kicking my ass. I'm going back through it to see if I can save up some more elixirs for the fight, but its very challenging so far.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 This game is alot of fun. Ryu can kick alot of ass but he can get his ass kicked too. What weapons are there after the nunchukus and where can I find them?
The Ghost of bps21 Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 I got past the level 3 boss. Level 4 now...
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 I got past the level 3 boss. Level 4 now... Get ready for the new group of ninjas that can kick your asss.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 I just finished chapter 6. Those huge zombies with their huge weapons are tough as hell...Especially the bow and arrow ones.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Well I'm on Chapter 9 (I think, it's hard to remember) and now I'm starting to run into some serious hardware. The ninjas were bad enough (but if you can get them in the Iz-something drop they're easy) but then the fiends showed up. Then the armored shock troops with the automatic rifles. Now it's freakin' armored vehicles! Is it me, or is there little need to use any melee weapon besides the Dragon Sword? Although I've heard that it you upgrade the wooden sword the whole way it turns out to be pretty badass. The nunchukus looks pretty sweet but the reach isn't that great, and the sledge hammer is too damn slow. I'm looking forward to seeing what else there is to find. Rachel is a damn fine piece of cyber eyecandy though. How can she fight fiends without falling over though is my question.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 I'm about to start chapter 8...I've been leveling up my wooden stick for a while...but it's getting EXPENSIVE.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted March 7, 2004 Report Posted March 7, 2004 What does the wooden sword do? In the game they say it's just for practice so I haven't bothered wit h it
