I believe so yes... I cant really tell how serious it is... probably not if the french seem to be the only ones interested... but looking back at how the republicans were ALWAYS trying to dig up stuff on the Clintons and their business practices pre-1992 (whitewater for example) I just find it odd that no one seems to be demanding investigations and independant council investigations on some of Bush/Cheney's business dealings such as this brown and root matter and of course the Harken Energy stuff

Well I'd give it a couple reasons. This reminds me a lot like the whitewater scam the Clintons pulled that got dug up during the 90s. The whole ordeal was so confusing and convuluted that it was difficult for people in the SEC and Justice Dept. to follow, let alone the average joe shmoe so while it got some press it didn't get a lot of attention or grip people's attention. In fact it was so confusing that SNL did a hilarious parody with several big artists (imitated by the cast) performing a song explaining the whole thing (the image of Flea in his underwear jumping up and down singing a song explaining how the Clintons manipulated cattle futures still makes me laugh). But the point is, this is not exactly the easiest thing in the world to follow and its a very iffy pin on Cheney anyway so it won't grab much media attention.

lol that SNL sketch sounds great... I've never seen it but I'm gonna try and look around for it

WHOA, WHOA, WHOA, hold on a second...Dick Cheney, our current Vice President, the second most powerful leader in our country....was once...CEO of Haliburton!??! You're kidding! Get out of here! What next? Did John Kerry serve....Heinz ketchup at his latest campaign dinner or something?

Attitudes like this are NOT helping.

Since all Halliburton discussions in this forum have been eschewed with this running gag actual allegations of fraud have appeared. There is more reason to be skeptical of Halliburton than there was back when we first started saying "LOL CHENEY HAS CONNECTIONS"

Since all of the "Haliburton discussions" end up as inane conspiracy theories involving Cheney and the Bush administration, they will all be treated as total jokes.

I don't know how it can me dismissed as an inane conspiracy theory.

Can someone please tell me what Kerry's stance is on Free Trade? I went to his web page but all he talks about it 'preventing foreigners from screwing us over.'

Is he FOR lower tariffs and multilateral or bilateral free trade agreements with other nations? Or is he just a 'protector' of American jobs by jacking up protection on industry.

Kerry is more slanted to free trade than Edwards is or Dean was.

Q [to Kerry]: You have accused Gov. Dean of playing on workers' fears and advocating protectionism and saying that under him it threatens to throw the economy into a tail spin. It that fair?

KERRY: Yes, it is fair, because Gov. Dean has said very specifically that we should not trade with countries until they have labor and environment standards that are equal to the US. That means we would trade with no countries. It is a policy for shutting the door. It's either a policy for shutting the door, if you believe it, or it's a policy of just telling people what they want to hear.

I am torn on this one...

I want Kerry to win because I agree with him on issues (gay rights, economy, foreign relations) more than Bush and it would be better for our relations with the rest of the world. And no matter what anyone says MY quality of life has gone down since 2001.

I want Bush to win just to piss of all the extreme hippy, physco liberals who talk about him being a warmonger and Hitler II. Whenever I see one of them protesting by yelling and disturbing other people, I just want to reach out and punch them square in the jaw. People like h4u annoy the hell out of me and seeing/hearing them bitch because they lost would be nice.

So the choices are Bush, Kerry and Nadar......

I'm voting for the Macho Man

Seriously, they are all cheats and liars and it doesn't matter one way or another. Either we have a democrat dork in the house or a republican loser in the house. It's really sad both parties claiming they are different when they both suffer from extreme views in situations where extreme views are the last thing the country needs.

Sadly, I pretty much agree, and this is from some one who was considering majoring in political science 2 years ago and already has A's in all the Poli Sci classes I've ever taken. I'm a Republican, but I disagree with just about everything Bush has done. However, I didn't like a single one of the Democrat candidates that much. Clark was the only one that appealed to me any, but Kerry's going to get the nomination. I don't care anymore.

Personally I dont know why you people hate George W. Bush so much. The guys who have to pass the bills and have to agree with Bush are at fault just as much as he is. He cant declare war without approval of the cabinet or whatnot.

Probably everyone knows this, but you don't have to "declare war" to have a war. Just send troops out, and if Congress doesn't declare war, recall those troops and send different ones out. That loophole really should be fixed.

Also agreed, except for the viewpoint on Kerry. I hate Kerry.
