Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2004 LOTR should not have won best editing. However, the wrong film winning best editing isn't as bad as the wrong film winning Best Picture. The Academy doesn't seem to know anything about most of the technical categories anyways. It wasn't even the most moronic decision in that category in the last five years. Traffic beating Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was much worse.

Mole 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2004 2003 - Chicago over Gangs of NY, The Hours, LOTR TTT, The Pianist (my pick: Gangs of New York) 2002 - A Beautiful Mind over Gosford Park, In the Bedroom, LOTR Fellowship, Moulin Rouge (my pick: A Beautiful Mind is an AWESOME film. Plus, Crowe should have won Best Actor) 2001 - Gladiator over Chocolat, Erin Brockovich, Traffic, Tiger & Dragon (pick: Traffic, no doubt. Gladiator is overrated) 2000 - American Beauty over Cider House Rules, Green Mile, Insider, Sixth Sense (pick: American Beauty, hands down one of the best movies of all time) 1999 - Shakespeare in Love over Elizabeth, Private Ryan, Thin Red Line, Life Is Beautiful (pick: Private Ryan, it was robbed) 1998 - Titanic over As Good As It Gets, Full Monty, Good Will Hunting, LA Confidential (pick: Errrr, Titanic) 1997 - English Patient over Fargo, Jerry Maguire, Secrets & Lies, Shine (pick: Jerry Maguire, other than Fargo it is the only movie I saw) 1996 - Braveheart over Apollo 13, Babe, Il Postino, Sense and Sensibility (pick: Braveheart, hands down. Even though Apollo 13 is a great movie) 1995 - Forrest Gump over Four Weddings and a Funeral, Pulp Fiction, Quiz Show, Shawshank Redemption (pick: I must have been too young, only 12 when this happened, but these are tough picks. Gump is an amazing movie, Pulp is just plan awesome and Shawshank is one of my favorite movies of all time. I'll go with Shawshank.)
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 1, 2004 Wow, TSM can NEVER EVER EVER be happy. Heh, you just noticed that? Holy fuck, Choken has 150 posts in this thread. No, I just didn't think people would get heated about RotK winning that much. It bored the crap out of me, personally. Of course, the Super Extendo DVD Version of FotR was 12 times as boring. Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 1, 2004 if it bored you the first time...why did you watch an EXTENDED version of it?
