Seven Teens Die in Tennessee Car Wreck

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (AP) - A car with seven teenagers aboard went airborne after going fast over a small hill, hitting a tree and killing everyone inside, police said.

Officers quoted friends of the driver, Michael Fradella, 15, as saying he had recently obtained his learner's permit to drive.

Steve Shular, spokesman for the Shelby County sheriff's department, told The Commercial Appeal of Memphis that investigators believe the westbound car was traveling at high speed and went airborne after topping a small hill.

The black Mazda Protege left no skid marks and went off the south side of a two-lane road. A motorist came upon the wreckage early Sunday morning.

Other victims were identified as Samantha Stawizynski, 15; Trey Hanna, 15; Lauren Sutherland, 15; Jessica Wallace, 13; Crystal Smith, 13; and Eric Sansone, 14. All were students at Millington Middle School.

Tennessee law requires minors with learner's permits to be accompanied by a parent, stepparent, grandparent or legal guardian who has a valid driver's license.

Millington is just north of Memphis in Shelby County.

That's what you get.

Driving fast and illegally.

I hate to say it, but I agree.

I yield no sympathy to people who "blindly" due something utterly stupid that kills themselves.

*shakes head*

Not to mention all the idiots that agreed to go into a car with him. They knew the type of person he was so they had to know they weren't in a safe situation.

Seven teens packed in a Mazda Protege?

The driver just fresh out of learner's permit school?

15 year old students still in middle school?

That wasn't a recipe for disaster, no sirree

Let this count towards the proof of the Law of Teenage Collective Intelligence

(The Law of Teenage Collective Intelligence: The collective intelligence of a group of teenagers is inversely related to the total number of teens)

This is why states are adopting laws prohibiting more than 1 teenager from being in a car at the same time.

Not that its going to do much good, since Im sure if the police tried to stop them they'd be stupid and try to outrun the police like the other recent "Teenagers killed in an accident" tragedy.

The Law of Teenage Collective Intelligence needs a modifier for when a car or other motorized vehicle is involved and another one for when the driver is either unliscensed or with a learner's permit.

'Tis a shame.

Not to mention you've got to wonder where the kid who was driving's parents were.

And that's the first I've heard of that law, Marvin. Not that it would effect me anyways, as I live in Canada, but that hardly seems fair. I understand the concept, but I don't see why, say, a friend or two of mine can't get a ride somewhere with me driving once I've gotten my G2.

Why should all teens be punished for those who choose not to use common sense?

I believe the law is broad enough to cover such situations

As Jeff Foxworthy says, there's a point where you stop thinking "Oh those poor people" and start the wonder "How the hell do ya fit so many people into 1 vehicle??"

Parden the spelling, but...

Deja-Fuckin-Vu.

Didn't the same shit happen like 2 months ago, except the kid DIDNT have any form or license/permit, and was going 100mph.

No, because I think in that thread the po-pos were after them...

Yeah, for about half a block, because the driver went too fast to even see them kill themselves.

I shed a tear and wait until the parents blame everyone but themselves for this.

He killed himself in an overloaded car in a manner that was obviously unlawful and unsafe, yet he had just got his learner's permit. What the hell is on that test?

Its like a law of teen stupidity. I can remember my buddy who i took driver's ed with and considered a somewhat good driver doing like 90 in his new Mustang down the side street by our school that was posted 35. This was like a week after he got his license. Needless to say, I was scared as shit. I really didn't want to die because I wanted to go to Wendy's for a combo meal

You can be 15 and still be in middle school. In some schools here in michigan, 9th grade is still middle school.

Yeah, I live near where this happened. They called that hill 'Thrill Hill'. It's where idiots fuck up their car (or more likely truck). In this case, kill you and your friends.

He had to have been in 8th grade or lower though, since I can't think of any school in TN where 9th is still considered middle school (public or private).

Glad to know you got your food safely. Now you can post pone your death for a few decases until all the fat and grease clogs your arteries.

15 year olds = Dumbasses. Especially when they are driving.

Random 15 Yr Old: Wow! When I touch this thing down here, it goes faster! Vroom! Vroom!

(Crashes into a tree)

Person from across the block: OMG!....oh wait, he's a kid. Stupid fuck, thats what you get for being a moron. (Steals wallet)
