Beyond the Mat: Ringside Special Edition DVD

I was looking around Amazon and saw this, the cover for the new Beyond the Mat DVD. There aren't a lot of features, just the new commentary with Jesse Ventura, a "Dinner with the Guys", and the features that were on the first disc. And once again, the Rock is on the cover when he is hardly in it.

I think they figure that having Rocky displayed will sell to a few more people as he is the most mainstream today and the most mainstream in that movie. Interesting to see the real people instead of the "phoneys" on the original.

I plan on picking it up mainly cause I got rid of the one I had a couple of years ago. Although dickweed could have taken a minute to spellcheck the boys in the "thanks" section...never heard of a Mikey Whippendeck

sweet! I almost... almost... almost bought beyond the mat the other day. I'm so freakin' glad I didnt because I always buy something a week before I find out a special edition is in the works

I bought the tape of the movie used from Hollywood Video a few years ago for a scant $2.99 and have watched it countless times. Now that I have a DVD player, I'll definitely have to add this to my collection.

I have an old VHS version and have been meaning to pick up a DVD copy for a long time just for the commentary, so this is something I will certainly buy.

I've had the VHS since it first came out and I got a DVD player like a week after that so I've been meaning to buy this for a while. I might just pick up the older version if the price goes down more.

Funk is real, but I remember hearing it's not really Foley or Rock on the cover. Not very good pictures though. It was something because as they label it "the movie Vince McMahon didn't want you to see".

When I heard they were releasing another DVD I figured that at least the 30 minutes of deleted footage that was on the VHS special edition would be on it. But it's not.

Is it me, or did the Rock always look really bloated back in 98/99? Watching him in Beyond the Mat, he looked completely different in the face than he does now... he didnt even SOUND the same

 

oh my god... could it be that the REAL Rock died back in 98 and has since been replaced by someone else?!

I always thought Rock and Foley were just drawn onto the cover.

 

Maybe this version will have more of Jake's daughter reading shitty poetry about how she hates her dad...cause you know, that was great.
