Crowd Questions

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if anyone could give me some info on wrestling crowd numbers?

I would like to know:

- The largest indoor/outdoor crowds.

- The largest and smallest crowd for a WWF/E, WCW and ECW PPV

- The largest and smallest crowd for Raw and Nitro.

Can anyone help?

Largest WWF/E crowd is either WM3 or Summerslam 92. Depending on who you believe. I tend to lean towards WM3 since, fuck what Metkzer says, I've seen the show and every section of the arena is packed - 93,000 sounds more than credible looking at the crowd.

Largest outdoor crowd would EASILY have to be for the NJPW (with some WCW guys) show in Pyongyang, N. Korea. You could arguably give WCW some credit for it --- but it'd be a stretch. Don't know EXACT numbers, but both days topped 100,000 fans.

One of the smaller Raw crowds had to be when they occasionally went to that little 'arena' with the big 'FERNWOOD' sign opposite the camera. I've seen better attendance at high school assemblies.

That "Fernwood" place I'm guessing is in Bushkill, PA. I pass it every time I go from college to my house and vice versa. I know there were some Raws there back in the WWF's "dark ages".

As for the Korea show, from what I remember, the crowd was around 190,000 one of the days and 150,000 the other.

The Manhatten Center defintely wasn't too big, and was the home of RAW for the better part of 8 months.

Biggest WCW: Probably Starrcade 97', smallest for WCW, Starrcade 2000

Smallest ECW: Guilty As Charged 01'

Largest Nitro: Nitro 98' at the GA dome or Nitro 99' at the Astrodome

Smallest RAW: That damn FERNWOOD place

Considering Flair ME'd it against Inoki in a dream match, WCW deserves SOME credit. ;)

And a number of WCW guys were involved in the mid-uppercard as well. The Flair-Inoki show drew something like 175,000 fans, the largest wrestling crowd ever. Yeah, WCW definitly deserves some credit for that.

Its the Fernwood Resort in Bushkill, PA. It couldn't have held more than 1,000 people tops. And parking sucked.

Jesus, I could hardly fathom 93,173 for Wrestlemania III, a number bigger than twice that is just beyond my comprehension.

And, of course, WM 3 didn't hit 93,000 either. But I know you already knew that.

As for N. Korea, Inoki is huge. I doubt the crowd would have been any lower if Flair wasn't involved.
