cbacon 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2004 Speaking of which, when was the last time the WWF/E sold merchandise with a wrestler holding the WWF/E Championship belt? I'm thinking Stone Cold Steve Austin since he had a poster made of him holding the WWF Title belt. I know Hulk Hogan did it. And so did the Ultimate Warrior. And I remember the Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior dolls they sold that had both guys wearing the WWF Championship belt. Did The Rock or Triple H have any merchandise made of them holding the Championship belt? I know one of Bret Hart's shirts had him with the title belt on it. Ya, i think I still have that shirt. Got it a house show in '97. It has a collage of Bret in action with the text "the legend continues" and on the back it had all his title victories.

I'm making it my personal duty to remind everyone of that until he quits using it. Edited March 18, 2004 by Anglesault

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 18, 2004 have you NOT heard the Rock's dumb witty phrases? Sure I have. You and your inability to comprehend anything remotely hip is staggering. The idea of waving your hand in front of your face and saying something that clearly isn't true being "hip" is asinine
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2004 Anglesault, when Cena says "You can't see me," he's using a figure of speech. He doesn't literally mean you can't actually defect the light being reflected off of his body with your eyes. If they were going to copy scarface for Eddy's shirt they could have done a bettter job. Except for the whole "copyright infringement" thing.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted March 18, 2004 I haven't got Chris Jericho's new t-shirt yet, but I will! I agree - the Scarface parody on Eddie's shirt is great, but they could've come up with something better than "Addicted to the Heat". I'm not a big fan of the colour scheme of Chris Benoit's shirt - red would've suited it much better - and yes, it does have a great catch phrase on the back. But I'd wear both of them. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 18, 2004 Anglesault, when Cena says "You can't see me," he's using a figure of speech. Meaning? I've heard about eight different explanations. All it's left me with is the impression that I could say that HHH was never champion (something clearly not true) wave my hand in front of my face like a little.... uh, never mind and everyone would believe that to be true. Guest JRE Report post Posted March 18, 2004 "You Can't See Me"....I'm on such a higher level that you that you can't see me. I'm out of your league...etc...etc...etc. It's REALLY easy to figure out. Anyways, both shirts debuted at WMXX merchandise stands. The shirts should be quite proud of themselves.

I'm out of your league...etc...etc...etc. It's REALLY easy to figure out. Then how come that's not the only answer I can get? And how come Cena often uses it in a way that often has nothing to d with that? i.e. Inserting it into a random rap so that he can create a rhyme?
Guest JRE Report post Posted March 18, 2004 "Then how come that's not the only answer I can get?" Other people have different opinions than me. I just went for the most obvious to me. "And how come Cena often uses it in a way that often has nothing to d with that?" I dunno....uncreativity? What the hell, why does this matter? His raps insult his opponents....that...is pretty much it.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 18, 2004 It just shows that no one can definitively say what the hell he means, which really isn't a good thing as far as catchphrases go.
Guest JRE Report post Posted March 18, 2004 Er...can't you say that for every catch phrase? I mean...we usually can't know exactly what a phrases originator means by it. As far as "You Can't See Me" goes...it has not confused me in the least bit.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2004 It just shows that no one can definitively say what the hell he means, which really isn't a good thing as far as catchphrases go. No, its a successful catchphrase partly because it can mean different things in different situations. Although you're the only one who's ever thought it meant something literal. Popular things (such as religion, movies, books, music, etc.) often mean different things to different people.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 18, 2004 If the guy using the catchphrase takes the effort (Which, I'm kind of sad to say, since his face turn, Cena really hasn't shown a lot of effort at all) to develop the catchprase and make it mean the same thing every time, eventually it works. Cena lets it bounce around to the point where everyone has a different idea. Example: "If ya smell what the Rock is cooking?" by itself makes zero sense. But Rocky put the effort in to establish it to the point where there's really no question as to what he's saying.
Guest JRE Report post Posted March 18, 2004 So what's wrong with people being able to form their own ideas about it's defintion? Freedom and stuff, ya know? But screw that anyways...because I'm not sure how you're getting confused. He says You Can't See Me....he's just declaring superiority over whoever he is addressing- whenever he says it....during a match...or hell, just a rhyme- his interupting his rap with an insult. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, why is it so hard for you to see this?

If you say "It's free country, so there!" I'm getting the hell out of this thread and leaving you here in the third grade. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I always thought that a catchphrase was a short, simple saying that got the point you wanted across in a catchy manner. I didn't think there had to be multiple levels to a catchprase. or hell, just a rhyme- his interupting his rap with an insult. The hell? Does he have Tourettes? RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2004 At one point Benoit was leading 70% to 30%. I checked back a little bit later and it was 50% to 49% I checked earlier today at around 3 and it was 50/49 Eddie, I checked again a few hours ago and it was 50/49 Benoit. Then it was 50/49 Eddie. Eddie's shirt clearly is better than Benoits (and I like Benoits), so it shouldn't even be close.. but they're both champions so they have to be equal. My god, the've been neck-and-neck all day! Who says the WWE doesn't fix these things? Funny thing is MTV does the excat same thing with one of their shows. Anywho I like both the shirts. The color for Beniot's shirt is differant from what WWE normally goes with, black or white. Tan is new for them as far as I can tell. Eddie's shirt is nice but personnally it would have been better if it could buton up and maybe put the front on the back and minimize the text so it fits under nicely. The No Way Out shirt should have had the logo in front and nothing else on it, but WWE decided to throws, Cena's, Show's, Angle's, Lesnars', and Eddie's face on the front and logo on the back. The faces shouldn't have been there and the back should have been the back. Would have been so much better. And is it me or does the shirts shrink when washed?
