Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted March 18, 2004 I'm in a strength training class and to make up an absence I have to write an article about a certain athlete. Thankfully, the subject given to me was Tom Zenk. I've visited his site and I know the basic information, but was he involved in steroids/ drugs? Any specific information would be helpful. He was probably involved with steroids. He definitely sucked in the ring. That is all. -=Mike
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2004 I believe he double teamed terri runnels with brian pillman once. I would use that as the hook to get people to read the rest of the paper. Also, I believe he gave it to terri in the ass.

Guest MikeSC Report post Posted March 18, 2004 He definitely sucked in the ring. Absolutely not! Oh, yes, he brought the suck. Horrid worker who has used his bitterness at an inability to get a career going to make him a darling of the IWC (the same IWC who would dump on every match he had). -=Mike
Betty Houle 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2004 Oh, yes, he brought the suck. Horrid worker So all those great macthes he was in were 100% tributed to who he was working with? Nope. Granted, his great matches were with great workers but he still had to do his part. And he was a great seller, sometimes putting over less talanted heels in the process! deancoles 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2004 You should add that he blew the biggest chance of his career when he walked out in 87 when he and Rick Martel were getting a Tag Title push.
Betty Houle 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2004 You should add that he blew the biggest chance of his career when he walked out in 87 when he and Rick Martel were getting a Tag Title push. According to Zenk (and other sources including Ric Martel), Zenk was making half of what Martel was making Z was making $2,500 per week; M was making at least $5,000 per week). If they had put the belts on the CanAms they would have held them for six months until Demolition came around. That would have left and uncertain future for Zenk. And the real money in WWF would have come from merchandising which their was minimal of for the CanAms. Zenk went on to make plenty of money in Japan and later WCW when they signed him for a big contract in 1989.

Ace309 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2004 He did an excellent article about working with Kawada in Canada and Japan in which he made it quite clear that both of them were roided up. See if you can find it.

Um, "all those great matches"? I'm not exactly sure where this MULTIPLE good match thing came from. His match w/ Pillman at the WarGames PPV in 1992 was the only good one in his career. Heck, his matches with Arn and Eaton were mediocre at best. And he couldn't put over "less talented heels" --- as less talented performers didn't, technically, exist. -=Mike
Betty Houle 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2004 I'm not exactly sure where this MULTIPLE good match thing came from. His match w/ Pillman at the WarGames PPV in 1992 was the only good one in his career. Heck, his matches with Arn and Eaton were mediocre at best. I have a huge collection of tapes and a long memory... If we're talking about tag matches (with either Martel or Pillman), he had very good to great matches with a boatload of teams: Midnight Express, Samoan Swat Team (believe it or not! I have a damn good match on tape from a house show in 1990), the Freebirds (as good as it gets with these clowns anyway), the Dream Team, the Islanders, etc. Granted, I'm not saying he's the most talented man in these matches; he did step up and carry his end with damn goiod performances. As for singles matches, he's had damn good ones with: Pillman, Eaton (trust me! I have about half a dozen of their matches on tape and most of them are damn good), Lex Luger, Scotty Flamingo (Raven), Terry Taylor, etc. Again, some of these guys are great workers and were more responsible for the match being so good (with the exception of Luger). But Zenk busted his ass in a lot of these matches. No, I never saw a particularly good match with Zenk vs. Arn. Then again, I think Arn is vastly overrated as asingles wrestler. None of the above are the less talented heels I was talking about. I'll get into that later. I'm not saying Zenk was a great worker but let's try not to shit all over him.
