Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Usually between 50-60%, but I will got as low as 40% with Halladay. Pshaw. I always punch it below 50% if I'm working a good game. Which is almost like always... At least, it used to be. I still need a new PS2.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted April 22, 2004 Right now I'm just not having good luck with Schilling on All Star difficulty. He's 0-3 with a 5.05 ERA. I took him out after he gave up a basehit in the 9th of a tied ballgame and A-Rod crushed one that was a good pitch(low and away out of the strike zone) so he got the loss having only given up 2 runs. I got shelled in my first start against Baltimore with him. It appears Baltimore is more difficult to beat than NYY in this game. I have Pedro at 3-0 with a 2.25era and 16Ks Also if you do start a franchise with the Red Sox you can trade Ramiro Mendoza for Guillera Mota and Edwin Jackson. I think I said that previously but still...damn good deal. Mota has a 94mph fastball and a split that hits 85. I usually use the Splitter and Sinker to set up a Fastball high out of the strike zone for a K with him. Edwin Jackson is in the minors working on his shit and will be in my rotation next year. I'm cutting payroll next season~!

Mole 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 I'm 25-10 right now and I am winning games by atleast 5 runs each game. I am playing at Pro right now and in about a week or so, I might switch it up to All-Star. It is weird that I am doing well since I usually suck at video games. I don't get it. Guest MikeSC Report post Posted April 30, 2004 I'll say it now --- there is one glaring flaw: If a player is injured and you accidentally hit "let computer fix rosters" --- the computer will SCREW YOU OVER. The computer traded away all but 10 players --- OF MY ENTIRE ORGANIZATION, because the 2B of my major league team was hurt for 10 days. It was ridiculous. Rafael Furcal traded --- for MARK MCLEMORE?!?!? -=Mike
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2004 That never has happened to me. I've never seen the CPU make trades at all actually (for my team, I don't mean between two CPU teams).
Guest Ahhee Report post Posted April 30, 2004 They've never made trades on me either but the damn CPU sent almost all of my bullpen down to AA and left me with next to nothing. LaTroy Hawkins was not pleased to be pitching for the Jaxx let me tell you.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2004 Never touched that option. Its quite amusing to see the moves the computer makes for other teams. Benching Jose Reyes for a pathetic second baseman because he doesn't have 2B listed is quite silly.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2004 Kerry Wood just pitched a perfect game on Pro difficulty against the Expos. Props please?
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2004 Kerry Wood just pitched a perfect game on Pro difficulty against the Expos. Props please? As in 90 strikes in a row? Nice job though, as that isn't easy to do.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2004 Kerry Wood just pitched a perfect game on Pro difficulty against the Expos. Props please? As in 90 strikes in a row? Nice job though, as that isn't easy to do. No, just 27 up, 27 down. A no-hitter without walks. I had 15 Ks and the other 12 outs were just pop flies and such. But still it was cool. Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2004 I thought a perfect game was 90 strikes, nothing else.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2004 I thought a perfect game was 90 strikes, nothing else. That would mean you were facing thirty batters. Perfect game just means 27 up and down. A perfect game is a no-hitter, but a no-hitter is not neccessarily always a perfect game, because you could have walks or errors in there.
Styles 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2004 Perfect game=no baserunners allowed.
Mole 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 Did they make any reference to you getting the perfect game?
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 So what happens if you pitch only 3 pitches to each of the 27 batters? I just wanna know what the hell that would be called.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 If you get them all out, a perfect game. If they're strikeouts, its a new record for strikeouts. Nothing more.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 But why wouldn't you call a Perfect Game -27 down by strikeout. I mean, that's perfect. Only utilizing 3 pitchs for each batter and getting them all down.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 Well, a PERFECT perfect game would be getting every batter on one pitch, via groundouts, flyouts, and such.

Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted May 3, 2004 Pro is easy fellas. No props. Oh, and I think I'll re-buy this game. If you don't remember, I sold it and was gonna buy a video card and the game for the pc, but since I'm going in Seattle in August, I need to save for that, and not buy a $300 video card .. sooo .. I'll be re-buying MVP on Friday most likely.

A lot of things have been broken in sports recently that you never would've thought would. Besides, I'd never say anything is impossible. Just highly improbable. Cause someone will do it. Not in our lifetime, but somehwere down the line, a guy will come along and just flat out be the best and nailing Ks and get that record. Well, a PERFECT perfect game would be getting every batter on one pitch, via groundouts, flyouts, and such. No. A perfect game is that. I hate how baseball goes, "well, if no one hits or gets on base or that, it is a perfect game"! No. That isn't perfect as you didn't get them all down. Honestly, I'd accept one pitch thing as well. As long as it is 27 up, 27 down in a freaking row. No errors, no walks, no anything silly like that. I'd just prefer strikeouts because that's a pitchers job is to get the guy out, himself. Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2004 (edited) "That isn't perfect as you didn't get them all down."" What does this mean? If you walk or have an error, then you haven't gotten that person down, thus it makes the game not perfect is what I mean. Edit: I've also got my PS2 back finally (just a recalibration was needed, thank god), so I'll be back to playing this game. Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2004 (edited) Well, like the real Montreal Expos, I blew my first game back, by having Biddle try for the save and blow it so I lose 4-3. Immediately, I bounce back with a rocky 7-5 win against the Rockies. Zach Day picked up his 5th win in seven starts and is my best pitcher currently. I'm 21-8 in 29 games. I'm the best in the MLB. Surprisingly. Don't count on that next year, a lot of my players that I have: Cabrera, Everett, Vidro, and Hernadez; are probably all leaving me at the end of this season, so I'll probably have a pretty shitty team afterwards. Edit: Can these fuckers just shut up? We are the best in the MLB and yet, I've got Cabrera, Vidro, Johnson, Biddle, Day, etc. bitching their asses off at me about this or that. I'm so doing a whole fire sale at trade deadline. This is fucking nuts. Edited May 6, 2004 by Lightning Flik
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2004 I upped the difficulty level to All-Star. Lost my first three, but two were competitive. Billy Wagner just isn't the same pitcher in the game.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2004 (edited) I've lost 3 of the last 4 since restarting. I'm not a happy guy. Dammit. When Zach freaking Day is your best pitcher, you know you've got problems. Edit: God fucking dammit. 1-4 now. I have a 3-0 fucking lead but fucking Albert Pujols kicks my ass with a homer and a fucking grand slam and then I'm fucked 8-6 (I made a hell of a last gasp in the final inning). Second Edit: Instead of posting once again, I'll just give an update that I'm not 25-11, and thusly have gone to 4-4 since getting MVP back. I just wish people didn't bitch all the time. Thankfully, my created pitcher, Chris Morris (4-3, ERA of like 2.18, 50Ks) managed to get everyone to shut up. I'm still debating a whole sale firing at the end of the season. I doubt I can keep everyone, but I want to make a stab at the World Series. I'll probably make the decision for what happens a week before the trade deadline or whenever before it. As I just can't keep everyone on my team. Edited May 6, 2004 by Lightning Flik

I'll be re-buying MVP on Friday most likely. It isn't hard at all. Usually the second step up from rookie in most games is a little difficult, but it isn't at all in MVP. After the All-Star break I'm going to switch to all-star mode.
