Faarooq released

Recommended Posts

Guest Anglesault
Farooq shoulda been kept around with Teddy Long. Kinda like a bodyguard...sometimes wrestler. He would've added a lot of credibility to Rodney Mack's down with the white man cause,

That reminds me.

Rodney Mack really has to go too.

NOO!

Just change him up to be JYD 2K4.

What does that mean?

Just what it says.

He wears a chain to the ring, comes out to "Grab Them Cakes", dances on the ring apron...and styles his ring style more like JYD's.

Guest I Got Banned for Sucking

Over on WNA, they have a thread puzzling over why Faarooq has never been WWE Champion. N00bs.

Now, I'm chatting to a friend of Brock Lesnar's. Excuse me.

Farooq showed my character development and storyline progression in this show than he has in nearly 6 years. I wish he woulda stayed around to work this angle with Bradshaw. And how could Heyman fire Simmons when everyone is going to Monday anyway? Bastards.

The problem is that there is nothing much left for Faarooq to do - I mean, apart from another Tag Team Championship reign (which probably/hopefully wouldn't've happened anyway) with The APA, there's not much left other than as filler on the odd Pay-Per-View.

He's fairly over, so at least he can draw with some indy feds.

Yet another reason for me to miss the good old days when i was just getting into wrestling and the big 3 tag teams were the Acolytes(pre APA when they were with the Minitry Of Darkness), the Hardy Boyz(with Mike Hayes), and The Brood(Edge and Christian with Gangrel until the horrible New Brood fiasco)

I was laughing my ass off at Czech Republic's line about Bradshaw's update of the IRS character:

"You'd better pay your taxes.......or I'll rape you."

Classic!

So...with Simmons gone...who is the second youngest active competitor after Flair?

Undertaker or Booker...both are 39 I believe.

Nah, Rico and Ivory are both 42.

Rikishi, and Albert. Once they go, then the smarks can stop bitching when they fire someone talented.

Rikishi is still extremely over with a lot of live crowds. As long as he's kept in a tag team environment his style works fine, he's surprisingly fast and agile given his size and he rarely gets injured, hurts anyone or blows spots.

Albert/A-Train gets guaranteed heat by virtue of his hairy back, and in-ring is probably the most talented 'big man' on the roster (possibly after Taker) with a great moveset.

Both are good way from the bottom rung of the ladder in terms of who needs releasing.

So much for Simmons and Long re-uniting after the Lottery, which is a damn shame (no pun intended).

Not that Simmons should still be wrestling. But I'd rather have Simmons around than Bradshaw...at least Simmons used to be a star.

Does anyone know the reason for Simmons' release? I've heard he actually did something wrong to warrant a release but no one is coming out and saying exactly what.

Geez didn't you just love the way they fired him on SD by having Heyman just kiss Bradshaw ass talking about how he and alot of people think Bradshaw is great.

Thats the angle spunky. Bradshaw sells out his pal in order to keep his paycheck and portfolio DESPITE the fact that Bradshaw was the one that took the pin in the match that cost Farooq his job. I mean a-doy.

Wow, talk about a no win situation. I'm not really a fan of Ron Simmons, but i'd rather him stay and team with Bradshaw than see another Bradshaw singles push  .

I've just heard that Simmons was released as he has a drug problem that he refused to acknowledge or seek help for. That is what the Simmons/Big Show confrontation was about at last weeks TV. Simmons was basically a pain in the ass over WrestleMania, complaining at every turn even to he extent that he wanted a limo to take him from the hotel to MSG instead of taking the private bus that was laid on for him and other talent.

I read something similar on the Wrestling Classics messageboard. Faarooq never came across as a druggie either. Probably pain killers........years of bumps will do that to you.

PWI or 1W's Elite/Premium section - I can't remember which one since they both insist on all caps headlines - had "THE REAL REASON RON SIMMONS WAS FIRED" or something similar, so someone who has a subscription might know something...

And, apparently, someone at NoDQ.com does. This was mentioned earlier, but just to cut and paste the entire story...

The reason Ron Simmons was released from WWE was actually because of a drug related issue that he refused to seek help for or even acknowledge. Some are even going as far as to say that may have been the reason for him standing up to The Big Show last week.

Simmons was also said to be very unpleasant when it came to last weekends WMXX PPV. He was ticked off that WWE would not get him a personal limo from the hotel to MSG the night of the show. He was asked to take the private bus rented by WWE for all of the superstars to ride on. Apparently that wasn't good enough for his standards though

Off topic: All the damns in the world wouldn't help Simmons fight the Big Show. It's just common sense.

Back on topic: If I may quote from an episode of Monk "Always with the drugs".

According to Kevin Malton of (X)PWBTS (the name lives on):

I've just heard that Simmons was released due to a drug problem that he refused to acknowledge or seek help for. It's been suggested that this was what Simmons/Big Show confrontation was about at last week's TV.

Simmons was basically a pain in the ass over WrestleMania, complaining at every turn, even to the extent that he wanted a limo to take him from the hotel to MSG instead of taking the private bus that was laid on for him and other talent.

Take that for what it's worth. Does anyone know if this is right? He didn't credit anyone, so did he get this info on his own or did he get it from the Torch, WO, or 1popup newsletters or something? Especially with the Torch's recent warning to credit their news if you use it, you'd think the guy would have the courtesy to do so if he got it from there. I never thought of Faarooq as having a drug problem...but man, such a habit seems to be affecting WAY too many people as of late...I really hope this isn't true. Ron always seemed like one of the better guys in the business that you wouldn't expect this stuff from. Everyone knows of his alchol interests, judging by the APA gimmick, but drugs, too? Damn...

EDIT: I see now this was posted in the other Faarooq thread...but hey, with all the different interprations of the Brockberg match at WM being posted each with a new thread, don't verbally beat me. Even in that thread, though, it didn't look like they named any real sources. Someone mentioned a PWPopup headline, but it's not confirmed if that's what that said, or if they gave another reason.

Didn't Russo want to make Simmons the first black WWF champion back in the NOD days? If so, he could get a big push in TNA (if he's not fully retiring). As others have said, he'd be a great mentor figure for "The Truth."
