What are some good non-WWE wrestling DVDs?

Recommended Posts

I recently picked up that first ROH DVD that came out, and I also picked up the UPW: Shock Wave DVD. What are some other good non-WWE/ECW DVDs that I should check out?

Sincerely,

...Downhome...

Get any and all MMA dvds by Pride FC or UFC.

I don't want any MMA DVDs. I've dived into that, and I just can't really stand it. Unless you know of a DVD where it's hard hitting action all the way through, then no thanks.

I just can't stand it when I buy a show, and it's comprised of two guys in the mounted posistion and they do little to nothing. Just two guys, mounted, I can't stand that.

I like the concept of the real fighting, but I don't like what I've seen so far.

I think the Severn/Shamrock bout that I saw also helped destroy my interest in this type of thing. Hell, I hated THAT piece of crap so much that I made an entire thread about it here. Check it out if you never saw it, heh.

I hear the PWG Tango and Cash Invitational DVD is awesome.

What is on it?

I want something with Michael Modest on it.

No Michael Modest on it, sorry. You could get ROH Unscripted to get a show with him on it, though there are much better ROH shows.

• Sal & Vito Thomaselli vs. Sara del Rey & Apolo Kahn

• B-Boy & Homicide vs. Disco Machine & Rising Son

• Samoa Joe & Puma vs. The Ballard Bros. (Shannon & Shane Ballard)

• Super Dragon & American Dragon vs. Excalibur & Johnny Storm

• Havana Pitbulls (Ricky Reyes & Rocky Romero) vs. Hardkore Inc. (Hardkore Kidd & Al Katrazz)

• Joey Ryan & Scott Lost vs. M Dogg 20 & Babi Slymm

• Quicksilver & Chris Bosh vs. Zokre & Phoenix Star

NIGHT TWO

• B-Boy & Homicide vs. Super Dragon & American Dragon

• Frankie Kazarian vs. Babi Slymm vs. M Dogg vs. Jonny Storm

• B-Boy & Homicide vs. CM Punk & Chris Hero

• American Dragon & Super Dragon vs. Joey Ryan & Scott Lost

• CM Punk & Chris Hero vs. Sal & Vito Thomaselli

• B-Boy & Homicide vs. Samoa Joe & Puma

• American Dragon & Super Dragon vs. Havana Pitbulls (Ricky Reyes & Rocky Romero)

Really any PWG DVDs are really worth the money. Bad Ass Mother is awesome. The Best of IWA-MS in 2003 sounds so good.

Guest The Last Free Voice

I was live at The Battle Lines Are Drawn, RoH's 1/10 show, and it was great, so when the DVD is ready, I recomend that.

Best From RoH:

Main Event Spectacles (11/1/03)

Night Of Champions (3/22/03)

Final Battle 2003 (12/27/03)

I must be one of the very few who didn't like ROH MSE that much.

Good picks, though.

- any of the most recent CZW DVDs, especially Overdrive and COD5

- the IWA-MS Best of 2003 DVD: the best matches from that promotion in 2003...they've put on some CLASSIC stuff, both in terms of wrestling and death matches.

- XPW Liberty or Death: incredible lucha match between Mexico's Most Wanted and Xtasis & Venom Black; Webb and Terry f'n Funk have one of the funnest brawls you'll ever find on the indy circuit...don't expect it to be a technical classic, but it's BJPW-style brawling at its best; a really solid match between Kaos and Chris Hamrick; a fantastic tag team match between the Altar Boys and AWC & Shady

- XPW Baptized In Blood 3 - Night of Champions: a really good death match between Vinnie Massaro and Altar Boy Luke; a fucking *incredible* death match between Angel and Supreme, with one of the most insane finishes wrestling has ever seen; a decent three-way ladder match between Kaos, Psychosis, and Chris Hamrick; Shane Douglas returns to XPW

- XPW Hostile Takeover: one of the best 3-ways the 2002 indy circuit saw between Altar Boy Luke, Vic Grimes, and Little Guido; a stupendous lucha-style tag team match between Mexico's Most Wanted and Smokey Charmichael/Brian XL; a Shane Douglas/Terry Funk match with an absolutely DISGUSTING ending; a solid Juventud Guerrera match; a really fun ladder match between Kaos and Chris Hamrick, including some spots you won't see ANYWHERE else...the first few minutes are awkward, but once they get down to business, it gets really good.

- XPW Fallout: a fun death match between Luke and Supreme; a solid big man's match between Vic Grimes and Malice; a very solid match between Kaos and Danny Doring; and more I don't remember off the top of my head.

If you wanted to just get one XPW DVD, I'd go with LOD or Hostile Takeover...you can't go wrong with either one if you're a big indy fan.
