The positive is that it mentions satellite and I'm pretty sure that Murdoch will start pulling Fox Sports & News if Comcast tries to pull this into their "let's make this a cable-only channel and share it with the other cable companies in an attempt to fight the little dish" scheme they've been running for a while. If there's a list of guys in business you don't want to piss off, Murdoch is in top 20 or so. The downside is they're likely going to gut the hell out of TechTV to cut costs and replace that stuff with their own G4 shit, which by comparison is 90% focused on console boxes and, worse, is a hair's breadth away from paid programming (every game is "good" or "great" or what have you.) There's a lot of proposed mergers out there. I'm just mentioning that this one is done. The more you post about stuff regarding DISH, DTV, Comcast/cable the more you reveal yourself as a buffoon when it comes to this stuff. A lot G4's stuff is console-oriented. A lot of TechTV's stuff is from the BBC. DTV and Comcast are currently at a standoff over SportsNet Philadelphia. But hey, easy and simple just to call people buffoons, no? Golgo 13 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2004 It strikes me that they should keep the Tech TV name. It'd be better suited to this channel. I suppose Pulse and Tech Live will be melded into some sort of hideous mutant now. Also, G4 has much stricter standards than Tech TV, so say goodbye to Unscrewed and possibly Martin (though him and his show are really hit and miss). It's going to be amusing to see G4's hair-gel and "WHOA THIS IS TOTALLY PHAT, BRAH!" overeager personalities clash with TechTV's "35 year old with a beer gut" nerds. TechTV hasn't been the same since they went to that all day news format a couple years ago, even though they stopped that. TechTV is carried by 3 shows : The Screensavers, X Play and Call for Help. I noticed that Call For Help is missing from that list of shows, which sucks. And I've got a feeling Leo Laporte will get bounced from the Screensavers (and probably the whole network) since he doesn't exactly fit the new channels demographic. When that happens I won't watch since Leo has carried ZDTV/TechTV ever since May of 1998 (I watched the first day ZDTV was on the air). Hey..I was right.. From Leo (yesterday): Yes, tonight will be my last night hosting The Screen Savers, a show we started nearly six years ago on a planet called ZDTV. I'm going to do a taped segment on the show every day, but I'll only be the cabin boy. Patrick and Kevin will captain the ship starting on Monday. DAMN Just thinking about this has me cheesed off enormously. When the channel changes over I will probably delete it from my channel guide. /EDIT I just went over to G4's site and looked around..ugh..and the message board..they are all worried about losing their post counts..lol.. He seemed to be more into the broadcasting and putting on a show than being into the computers. Which probably explains why 7 out of every 10 questions he took was either easy or "email us and we'll give you more detailed information." Now, Patrick Norton, on the other hand, looks like your company's IT guy, sounds like it, and usually looks ready to roll his eyes at Leo's antics. Best thing I can say about Leo is that he's been doing it since he and Soledad O'Brian hosted The Site on MSNBC (ZD/TechTV crammed into a one hour show, part of the MSNBC launch lineup.) Its like a bunch of 12 year olds arguing..well it probably is. Theres no way that they can combine the two messageboards without some huge all out flamewar between the two sides. Its like someone said on the TechTV message board (paraphrased) "TechTV fans make fun of G4 fans and they diss us, G4 fans make fun of us and we'll hack them" I never saw Tech tv but i did say X-play. That channel would be sweet if they didn't include X-play. x-play is the worst show. Though Portal was worst but X-play is up there. What the hell? WHY G4 WHY? WHY ARE YOU MERGING WITH THEM NUT HEADS??? X-PLAY BASHES HIT GAMES LOL. Why does Tech TV think they are gamers? They have one show they rarely play about games. Now G4 will get rid of shows to show crappy Tech TV shows. Now I will have to sit there and listen to some guy call in and say "my computer isn't on, how can I fix it?" and asking other pointless obvious questions.
