NWA:TNA has announced on their website that Chris Sabin (who has been out injured), is being stripped of the X Division Title for being inactive for a month. A new champion will be crowned this Wednesday on PPV in a match between The Amazing Red and Frankie Kazarian.

Too bad the two contenders that will compete over the vacant title both suck.

Let's start the betting! How many spots with Red blow? My money is on four.

Also in the preview there is a four corners tag match:

FOUR CORNERS WILDCARD TAG TEAM MATCH

NEW FRANCHISE vs. GILBERTI & YOUNG vs. DIAMOND & SIAKI vs. D’LO BROWN & EL GRAN APOLO

This Wednesday night, TNA officials have signed the above tag teams to a four corners wildcard match, as the winner of the bout will receive the first title shot at the winners of the current NWA World Tag Team Title Tournament! Making his TNA return in the match to team with D’Lo Brown is Puerto Rican superstar El Gran Apolo, who competed in TNA in 2002 and is one of the most gifted big men in wrestling today!

Guess the whole 'masked man' angle went sour

I'm not that negative actually. I like a lot of what NWA is doing, especially compared to WWE. It's just that I feel NWA could've came up with better contenders than Amazing Red (whom is both sloppy and grossly overrated) and Frankie Kazarian (whom is lucky to still be walking after that awful Styles Clash).

Why couldn't they incorporate some type of ranking system for the X-Division the way that they have started to do for the NWA Title division? Perhaps a Battle Royal or something to assign everyone rank? Despite their involvement in other storylines, angles or promotions, it seems like people such as Christopher Daniels, Low Ki, & Michael Shane should all be ranked higher than either men in the title match.

I just feel that the men should've earned their shot at the title...or at least earned it moreso. I guess I should put it that way.

To be fair, I think Red is crap as a wrestler, but when he's with somebody that can go spot-spot-spot nearly as good as he can (shitty wrestler, AMAZING athlete), he can produce some damn fine matches. Hell, when he's with a good worker he can produce very, very good matches. To me, the greatest match in TNA so far was the 4-team X-Division tag match from about a year ago (Chris Sabin's debut match, actually), when Lynn and Red teamed up (I dubbed them F'N Amazing, but TNA called them the X-Division Dream Team...GHEY) to defeat Chris Sabin & Jonny Storm, Jason Cross & Shark Boy, and Elix Skipper & Christopher Daniels. The Tag title match the next week between F'N Amazing and XXX was also damn fine, and in my top 5 for TNA (just so you know, I ranked the 4-team match at ****1/2, and the Tag title match at ****, and ****1/4 is what I gave XXX/AMW in the cage).

And the Styles Clash '03? All Kazarian's fault. He tucked his head in when he should have leaned back.

Uhhhh...that's what they did. This was a rankings match. Since Red won it, he's #1 contender. And since Kazarian was the last man eliminated, he's #2. So this makes perfect sense.

As to why Daniels, Shane, and Ki aren't ranked...Ki and Daniels are in the Tag division primarily now, as is Shane (assuming he doesn't leave the New Franchise). Besides...do you WANT "Michael Shane - X-Division champion" again? He was the worst one yet (worse than Siaki by far). They'd all be ranked higher if they still worked X-Division matches, but they haven't since Ultimate X2 (except for Shane, who challenged Sabin the next week).

I just feel that the men should've earned their shot at the title...or at least earned it moreso. I guess I should put it that way.

Well, Sabin's injured and can't wrestle. How else would they have earned it? There's two belts that have been vacated at the current moment (one of which, the Tag titles, that shouldn't have been), so having the X-Division title be vacant any longer would ruin it's credibility. I think it's the only belt in the company's short history that HASN'T been vacated at least once until recently.

It would've helped had I not missed the show where they earned their rank actually.

That's not necessarily true at all. I've seen an AFL footballer come back after his 3rd torn ACL in 6 months in great shape. This guy's playing weight was about 110kgs and Aussie Rules Football is not a non-contact sport.

Well der, as if our footballers don't rule. ;)

Nice to see them honour the 30 day rule, but bad luck for Sabin.
