EricMM 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Well tonight is the last night of Home Movies on [adult swim] or should I say, the last new episode. At 11:00 tonight, the last episode, Focus Grill will air. Thereafter, it will be repeats only at 12:30, it's current space filled by Futurama. It's a sad day where the only subly funny cartoon on TV gets replaced.
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Wait... Do you mean... as in... last new episode EVER...? Because if not, so what? But if so, NOOOOO!
Guest JMA Report post Posted April 5, 2004 This does indeed suck. Home Movies was something of a success story. They went from a little known UPN show and revitalized themselves on Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim." I've watched AS from the beginning and have always been a fan of Home Movies. Hell, it's become a stable of AS. I can't believe they'd choose not to renew it for another season.
EricMM 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Tonight is indeed the series finale. Cartoon network has this thing about fifty two episodes (four seasons). They have not picked it up for any more seasons. So sad... I don't see them applying these same laws to their precious space ghost.

There does seem to be a Williams Street Glass Ceiling, if you will.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Home Movies leaves to make room for Harvey Birdman?
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 no more Home Movies?!! Good thing I woke up in time to be able to watch it... does this mean i'm going to have to sit through two more seasons of the Oblongs? cause that show just plan sucks... EDIT: Beautiful way to end it. I'll say that much. I pray for DVDs.
EricMM 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Having just watched the last episode, I really think they ended it quite well. I know a lot of people are begging for new seasons to be picked up, but at this point, well it was a really nice ending. I'm just waiting for the DVD now. Guest JMA Report post Posted April 5, 2004 I agree with those who liked the ending. Nice symbolism with the camera being crushed. I have a feeling the DVDs will sell great.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 How many episodes of Oblongs were made, 8? Please no more Oblongs, that show was the worst of the UPN leftovers. I want new episodes of Mission Hill!
EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Yeah it was a great way to end it with them talking about all the movies they made and the camera getting crushed at the end.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Man, that was a great ending to the show. I'm kinda sad to see it go, cause I never got the chance to really get into it, but what I saw was brillaint (See: Whoever has 'Spaghetti time' in their sig)
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted April 5, 2004 damn, they were really funny lately. I was never a huge fan, but replacing it with Futurama is criminal. Futurama is crap. Arama. if you weeeeell.
Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted April 5, 2004 how did it end? i'm not a big fan (I actually liked Futurama more) but I did watch some of it.
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Futurama's first two seasons were good. Then it started to really, really suck. Home Movies, meanwhile, was fucking brilliant. Fucking Cartoon Network idiots...
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 No more coach ruins my week. Total bummer. I hope this doesn't mean that damn Baby show is coming back.
EricMM 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Actually, funny you mention it, Baby Blues IS coming back. But not w/ new episodes. Just the same old ones. If you at all appreciated anything about this show, make sure to catch the other seasons whenever they repeat them. Season four had it's moments, but it was EASILY the weakest season. Still the best show on TV for me tho.
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 what was with Sealab last night, btw... a 'serious' episode topped in an ending that's been done a billion times anyway. that was WEAK.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 I think they just took an episode of Sealab 2020 and put a 2021 ending on it
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 I think they just took an episode of Sealab 2020 and put a 2021 ending on it well...maybe... a re-dubbed episode anyway. My favorite is still when Captain Murphy decided to build his own government.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 I like the TinFins episode. I don't know why, but I laughed my ass off when they brought up the free Cookie Bread
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Wait...what about when Erik Estrada's character was killing dolphins for Tuna-Free Tuna.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 what was with Sealab last night, btw... a 'serious' episode topped in an ending that's been done a billion times anyway. that was WEAK. Yeah, that was "7211," which is kinda infamous. It's a weird tribute/screw with the viewers episode that is kinda interesting to see once, just to get the really truly awful feel of 2021's source material, but is brutal during repeats. Thank god for the Wisdom Cube.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 seems like Quinn didn't have much of a role in the original cartoon. BTW, what's 7211 mean?
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 the Wisdom Cube was a little funny...especially when spouting off bumper stickers. Frylock's S&M mask = GOLD.
Guest JMA Report post Posted April 5, 2004 I actually dug the "serious" SeaLab episode. SeaLab 2021 has always been about using "out-there" type of humor, and this was no exception. I do think the "SeaLab explodes" ending is too played out, though.
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2004 My favorite part of last night's Home Movies, thanks to the line delivery. Melissa: I think Coach McGuirk and your mom would make a cute couple. Jason: They're both kind of dumpy. I'll miss it. Don't even know why they'd bring Baby Blues back, as while I don't hate it, it's not half the show that any of the WB/UPN castoffs are. EricMM 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2004 Walter: Wow Melissa who does your makeup? Melissa: I do Walter: Well maybe you should get somebody else to...
Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted April 6, 2004 The Martian Law episode of Sealab was the best. Stormy: You would take in a unich like me?
