Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted April 9, 2004 Its whining when you feel the homeplate umpire blew calls for both teams through-out the game?

Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted April 9, 2004 So all of us Boston Red Sox fans hate Alfonso Marquez because he's a poor official? I can live with that.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 9, 2004 I have no clue where the Retarded Batman reference comes in nor do I understand Jim Carrey in Batman Forever "Why...Can't I KIIIILL You?"

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 9, 2004 Yes, I know. That's why it's retarded. The unkillable Batman never wins and the "vilainous" Yankees always do.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 I think that the Cubs should just move Patterson to the leadoff hitter's slot. He's got the speed, makes more contact and is more of the leadoff man type in comparsion to Grudz, who looks like he may not live up to last year's career season. I know they have Patterson batting second because they want him to produce instead of leading off, but with Grudz getting out everytime to lead off the game, it's basically Corey playing the leadoff guy anyway. I think it's going to be a slow start until Prior gets back. Once Mark is in the rotation, Maddux gets rolling, and we inevitably trade away Zambrano for an established big name, things will look up. That would be an incredibly stupid move at this point. Zambrano's going through the growing pains and that's to be expected. So to ship him off somewhere in exchange for a quick fix is ridiculous. Once he hones his control and mechanics, he's got a shot at being at Prior's level, if not better.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 There's no reason to trade for an established "name" when Zambrano is just as good. An obsession with trading for big names is called the Bill Bavasi Syndrome.
DerangedHermit 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 Scott Erickson doesn't even throw a pitch for the Mets and he's injured That fucking pissed me off....at least the offense is good. It beats last year where nothing was good.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted April 9, 2004 I enjoy the free preview of MLB Extra Innings but I can safely say that Rex Hudler is one of the worst fucking commentators ever. Isn't he suppose to be in jail anyways? I thought he was busted with a bunch of cocaine.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 Man, NESN brought in a lot of female correspondents this year for the Sox games. I've seen three different ones so far this week. Oh, and I move that this thread be closed on Sunday, replaced by weekly "This Week in Baseball" threads, where people can talk about their team's games and other news. If not, this thing's gonna be huge by season's end.

NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 I am going to the A's game tonight. Mariners 0-3. Redman pitching tonight. Redman isn't the best, but as a #4 guy in your rotation, I'd say that is good. Hopefully Jermaine Dye stays hot.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 What's the big deal in size? Who cares if it's huge? Fill me in. Because its unwieldly and intimidating. Moreover, its difficult to find where you last checked the posts. I think "This Week In Baseball" threads are a wonderful idea. We have experienced good results from This Week In Wrestling threads over at SNKT.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted April 9, 2004 Holy shit what a play by Orlando Hudson. For those not watching the game check out BBTN later, its sure to be a web gem Edit: Al, just do the game by game stuff here and save the weekly recap for SNKT (or BNW...feel free to do it there, really I don't mind)

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 The problem with the Cubs is their complete inability to play small ball. Each of the last two games was completely winnable, but our offense is just horrendous. Precisely. This is where they were showing improvements last season after they acquired Lofton (a true leadoff hitter). Him usually getting on to start a game often set of a chain of events that usually equated to at least one run. They've really got no speed in there aside from Patterson and you can bet that they'll have him run less once he starts piling up the big power numbers. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 Speed is overrated. The most important thing is getting guys with high OBPs, and working from there.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 Wow. The Yanks draw four walks in the same inning...and do not score. I'm not sure if even the Cubs could've pulled that one off. Now, a single turning into an inning-ending double-play; that's a different story. And Al, I agree that speed is overrated, but it also helps to have a couple guys in the lineup capable of getting on base from a bunt and generally causing havoc for opposing pitchers once they get on base. When the Cubs do get on base, it's rare that it's a guy who's a base-stealing threat.
