Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 At least the Tigers are actually doing well unlike the bumpkin Cubs, who've faultered early. Since we're only three games into the season, I won't do anything close to panic, but it is annoying to see that the majority of the hitters are displaying zero patience at the plate, which is only working to the advantage of the pitchers. At Clement can be brilliant at times, but I've found him to be pretty lousy the majority of the time, especially if the opposing team has a lot of lefties. I don't know..... you might want to consider hitting the panic button when Reds pitching is doing that to your hitters. I will if this hasn't changed in a month's time. That's the glorious thing about baseball, the season's so ungodly long that there's still time to turn it around for a couple of months. The Marlins, anyone? They need more patience but in addition to that, one must remember that Lee and Sosa are both notoriously slow starters, so expect to see them starting to turn it up within the next few weeks. The middle of the Cubs' batting lineup is looking a lot like the Braves' did last year (with about five spots of potentially good / great hitters).

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 Catching the Padres game on Extra Innings, PETCO Park is a pretty nice park, but I still havent figured out why they have that wierd area of seats poking out in RF. The Western Metal Suply building is pretty interesting feature too..

The middle of the Cubs' batting lineup is looking a lot like the Braves' did last year (with about five spots of potentially good / great hitters). Plus, if need be, we can trade for better players. Lofton, Simon, Ramirez, Karros, Grudzielanek, anybody? Nearby Brewers fans have told me that the Cubs would be wise to acquire CF Scott Podsednik, as he's really quick in the outfield, a good hitter, and has tons of potential. Maybe Milwaukee fans just want to see another star depart so they can hate Selig even more. I think it's going to be a slow start until Prior gets back. Once Mark is in the rotation, Maddux gets rolling, and we inevitably trade away Zambrano for an established big name, things will look up.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted April 9, 2004 You won't get Posednik as he costs the Brewers nothing Wow, what a fucking end to that innings. As a Red Sox fan I can honestly say we got a break because it looked like Mora's foot hit the plate before the tag

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 They were mocking the Tigers today on the radio in a bit that was actually pretty funny. They were basically acting like baseball season was over and the Tigers had gone undefeated. It was very sarcastic but just all around funny. "The Detroit Tigers nearly saw there dream season fall to an end today! In a tough game against the Minnesota Twins they did the impossible and SHOCKED THE WORLD! In a dream season seeing the Tigers dominate the Blue Jays several times they went out there today to finish it all up against the powerhouse that is Minnesota. It looked bleak but the Tigers pulled it out! In one of the greatest comebacks in sports history The Tigers pulled out a victory to send there fans and the rest of the world into a tizzy! The Tigers are undefeated and it doesn't look like the streak will end soon! Don't be shocked when you see this Cindarella story celebrating in Game 4 of the world series after shutting there opponents out! GO TIGERS!" I was about to bust a gut listening to this. Poor Detroit, they do something good and get made fun of for it.

Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted April 9, 2004 The homeplate ump didn't give Bobby Jones any called strikes. Luis Matos should have been called out on strikes and Bigbie should have been struck out looking as well. From what I was told by a friend watching the Orioles broadcast even their team said Matos should have been called out on strikes. Alfonso Marquez was a horrible ump through-out the whole series. KingPK 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 That was a fitting ending to Sox/O's. There was only about, oh, 55 walks thrown by the pitchers. And it always seems the Sox lose one "walk" off game in the first week or so of the season.

Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted April 9, 2004 ask Marvin, he could back-up the fact that the Orioles broadcasting team questioned the umpire's call. Not to mention I felt Marquiz blew the call at the plate when Mora was scoring.
