treble Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 8 straight balls to start the 11th. Thank you, Mr. Jones.
Bruiser Chong Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 In all fairness, a couple of those pitches looked to be very close to the strike zone and were called balls.
King Kamala Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 2 RUN WALK OFF HOME RUN BY DAVID ORTIZ! TAKE THAT TREBLE CHARGED!
Mik Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Well, I just returned from Easter weekend at my parents house, which is why I wasn't able to comment on the matter beforehand, but I'm sorry to Al and pinjockey and all the other poor Phillies fans, because the Marlins owned them this weekend. Beckett was damn near unhittable today (literally) and Choi and Cabrera are swatting homeruns like flies. It's beautiful right now. It's also nice to see Benitez way out in front of everyone else with 5/5 save conversions. The Phillies might beat everyone else, but they still can't touch the Marlins.
Slayer Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 The Phillies might beat everyone else At 1-5, they haven't beaten much of anyone
Mik Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 I meant for the rest of the season. They could win as many series as they want, but until they actually produce some Ws against the Marlins, they are gonna have it in the back of their head that they can't beat them...and lately they can't.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Fucking Marlins. Eh, they'll get theirs. Even if I have to root for the Asstros or Cubs to do it.
sfaJack Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Eh, they'll get theirs. Even if I have to root for the Asstros or Cubs to do it. Even if Clemens is on the mound?
Guest Anglesault Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 If Clemens is on the mound I root for a black out.
Guest Wildbomb 4:20 Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Good to see both games I go to so far are Sox wins. Ortiz's homer wasn't dramatic enough. We gotta have the over-the-head wave for it to be perfect. Damn long ball though. Jones shoulda got sent down instead of Daubach, dammit.
Bored Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Well Arthur Rhodes couldn't get through the first week without blowing his first save although he breezed through his first three so I guess I won't panic yet. Chris Hammond then decides this game has gone on too long and gives up five in the 10th. A's about to hand the Fighting Bavasi's their first win. Pop the champagne Mr. Rant!
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 I don't know what is going on with our offense. 13 runs in six games is absolutely terrible. Well, a Reds series is the perfect chance to turn it around.
Guest OctoberBlood Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Well, a Reds series is the perfect chance to turn it around. Nah. 1st or 2nd in the league in ERA. No more Jimmy Anderson, Joey Hamilton, or any double A pitchers who aren't ready - plus, you'll miss Jimmy Haynes. Thankfully. BTW, what's the word on the new park? Does it suppose to favor the pitchers or hitters, or neither? I'm looking forward to it, it's a beauty from what I saw.
Bruiser Chong Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 From most accounts, it seems to favor the hitters. That's the impression you'd get from most commentators, anyway.

Dimensions are about the same as before. The offense should go up some because of the weird angles in the outfield. The wall is higher and lower at some points.
Bored Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Well, a Reds series is the perfect chance to turn it around. Nah. 1st or 2nd in the league in ERA. Wow, top of the league thru six games. Might as well start comparing them to the 90's Braves.
The Czech Republic Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Am I the only one who prefers the Cubs' blue "alternate" jerseys to these ugly-ass grey ones they're wearing today? Oh yeah everyone prefers the blue to the grey. I apologize to the white-grey purists of baseball, but those road uniforms are awful for the Cubs...in the playoffs they jsut went to white at home, blue on the road, and it was better.
Fuzzy Dunlop Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 The good guys all won today. Cubs, Sacramento, Phil Mickelson..... BEST EASTER EVER.

Guest Anglesault Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I don't know what is going on with our offense. 13 runs in six games is absolutely terrible. Hell, it's worse than the Yankees.
Mik Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I'd just like to say that no matter what happened in this offseason, after one week of regular season play, Pudge would be on the team with the best record in baseball (Marlins and Tigers both 5-1). Now, of course, his former team will keep winning and his current will not, but as of right now...not so bad.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 His former team will keep on winning. To a point. They won't be facing a useless Brave, bumbling Cub and worthless Yankee post season line up this year

Guest FrigidSoul Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Facts are meaningless to AngleSault.

Damnit. I knew the Braves made fools of themselves somewhere. Anyway, I think we're probably gonna end up seeing Marlins/Cubs 2 in the NLDS this year. Hopefully the Cubs don't blow that.
Kahran Ramsus Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 They won't be facing a useless Brave, bumbling Cub and worthless Yankee post season line up this year So you're admitting the Yanks won't be making the World Series? Because this lineup sure doesn't seem to be tearing up the basepaths.
