RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2004 Man, I don't really know how to effectively explain it, but Foley/Orton almost feels real. Foley has incorporated so much "truth" and emotion into this lie that I'll be damned if I don't believe him... even for a second... It kinda sucks that they're wasting a 8 man tag w/ evolution for a RAW match - they could have built that sucker up for, if not a PPV, a "big" RAW. 4 weeks in and Benoit still doesn't seem like the champ. Fuckin great.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2004 Good call on the Battle Royal. That could've made a good main event for Heat, but instead its all screwed up.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2004 Oh, and Benjamins promo was clearly scripted (and horribly done, btw, both in terms of execution and content), but I still think Benjamin could be a great promo man given his voice and his facial expressions. He needs to channel less Kurt Angle and more Foley though

He needs to channel less Kurt Angle and more Foley though Benjamin's facial expressions are part of the reason I've been saying he'll be a major star within two years. If he learns to do a good promo, then he's gold!
Guest Goodear Report post Posted April 6, 2004 Oh, and I agree with Rudo about Shelton's promo. He's raw as clay which is perfectly acceptable since this is like the first time he has done a serious promo that I have seen. So with that in mind, for a first promo this was pretty good. I love the cocky gimmick on him though, he wears it well. Oh and Benoit needs to be more important... but the La Resistance neckbreaker/side slam was fucking sweet. Oh and Eugene looks like Matt Borne circa Wrestlemania I. I just figured out who he reminded me of visually.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2004 I'd be *so* into a Shelton heel run. He's got a cocky smile you just want to slap off his face.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted April 6, 2004 And I'm sure you'll get that chance in the next couple of years. But for right now, its perfect to have a guy be all up and cocky in Triple H's face. Plus its different from the usual cocky = bad and going against type has worked well for the WWE with Guerrero. I want to see it get over.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2004 Don't get me wrong, I'm digging the face push he's getting, and the cocky character is working.

Scroby 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2004 Mark sign for the night: "Bischoff worse Raw GM ever!" Umm other than Austin, who sucked, Bischoff has been the only GM of Raw!
Golgo 13 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2004 Umm other than Austin, who sucked, Bischoff has been the only GM of Raw! Ric Flair, who was the first ever Raw GM.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2004 *puts foot in the mouth* I completely forgot about Flair. ...Wait was he actually a GM? I don't think WWE ever called Flair a GM.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 6, 2004 he was the Co-Owner of WWE...and he and vince could't co-exist so thus the roster was split...with each running a brand
Golgo 13 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2004 Shit. You may be right. I think I got it mixed up because there was no real difference between the co-owner and GM office.

Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 7, 2004 Shit. You may be right. I think I got it mixed up because there was no real difference between the co-owner and GM office. well...The only logic gap here is for me...WHEN DID FLAIR LOSE THE CO-OWNERSHIP role? I know vince won it back somehow and rewarded Eric as the New GM...not sure how Flair just became Trips Manager and how Stephanie took over Smackdown. Guest Max Peter David Report post Posted April 7, 2004 The week after Austin walked out, Vince paniced, and threw togethor Flair vs. Vince for the ownership on Raw. Vince won, don't remember how, but it was probably screwy.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 7, 2004 thats what I was thinking...but wasn't sure. But i thought Austin/Flair had that stip where Flair becomes Austin's bitch if he loses...and that if Flair wins...Austin had to kiss his ass or something...I dunno. Vince won, don't remember how, but it was probably screwy. Brock Lesnar F5'ed Flair and scared off Arn Anderson who interfered moments earlier, who probably shit his pants. I hated Brock then, and of course, I'm still not liking him. But since he's gone, he means nothing anymore.

Yes, that match - Vince McMahon VS Ric Flair - was thrown together at the last minute, which is obvious, because otherwise, they're not having a match of that magnitude (stipulation/s included) without any build chucked on Raw. Karc 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2004 I never got to comment on the battle royal, it was so badly booked I tried to forget it for two days. I mean, when they open the show with that as the only announced match, I thought for sure it would be the 10 o'clock main event. Certainly with it basically being Lita vs Trish. Instead, it was some filler between two Triple H beatdowns. Then the royale itself just stunk, but everyone has said that. The rules were contrived, and it was a bunch of dead weight eliminated during the facade of a commercial break, as well as the T & A factor for the most part, especially anyone wearing wedgie-inducing short shorts. I mean, would it have been that hard to put in Jackie and Ivory, two women who could work a little? Then having Trish lose is criminal. Unless they are saving evil Trish and psycho Victoria for some big feud later, what's the point? Lita still sucks. One reason I keep hearing for the quick eliminations is time limitation. Well, would it really have been so hard and thought-provoking to sell Benjamin in the main even again, run the match a little longer, and incorporate the two beatdowns into one? That way, we get the same booking result, but it takes less time. Whatever.
