King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2004 Ok, you know the deal. I give you a choice of matches, you choose which one you want reviewed, and I review it. If it sounds familiar, that's because it is. I was preparing to steal CM Funk's idea anyway...hopefully this won't clash with Real F'N Show's one... ...which, I of course, I think you should read in conjuction with this one ... ...anywho, onto the matches. "Lesser Known Six Man Tag Team Matches" Your Choices: 1) The Hart Foundation and 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan vs. The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers and Dino Bravo, 2 out of 3 Falls Match (WWF Royal Rumble 1989) or 2) The F.B.I (Tracy Smothers, Tommy Rich and Little Guido) vs. Tommy Dreamer, Balls Mahoney and Axl Rotten (ECW House Party 1998)

Guest Report post Posted April 8, 2004 Wasn't so great but I'll go with 1) The Hart Foundation and 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan vs. The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers and Dino Bravo, 2 out of 3 Falls Match (WWF Royal Rumble 1989) as well. I have it and in my mind it's maybe **1/4.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2004 Looks like a landslide victory...which luckily, I half expected. So, I got a head-start this time. Next choices should be up early tomorrow. Match: The Hart Foundation and 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan vs The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers and Dino Bravo w/Jimmy Hart and Frenchy Martin Event: WWF Royal Rumble 1989 (1/15/89) Stipulations: 'International Rules' apply, which to you and me means 2 out of 3 falls. Analysis: First Fall: U.S.A chant from the get-go. I'm sure Bret appreciates that. Neidhart and Bravo to start, and they lock up. Bravo breaks away, before another lock-up. Bravo headlock...Neidhart pushes Bravo off into a shoulderblock, and it's "the irresistable force meeting the immovable object". Another shoulder, and both stay up again. Bravo to the ropes, misses a clothesline, and gets clotheslined himself. Neidhart misses an elbow. Bravo misses an elbow. Hmm. Tag to Duggan, and the crowd goes nuts. Bravo quickly tags in Raymond, and there's another U.S.A chant. Lock-up, which Raymond fights out of. Irish whip by Duggan...duck of an elbow...and a clothesline...but Raymond runs into a scoop slam. Old Glory Knee Drop...and a tag to Bret. Finally. Shot to the gut followed by an arm wringer. Raymond whips Bret away. Bret with a leapfrog, and a quick small package gets 2. Sunset flip for 2. Cross-body for 1, as Jacques pulls Bret's hair. And now Jacques tags in to break the momentum. Little hug by the Rougeaus...god they rule. Jacques whips Bret to the ropes, and flips over the back, RVD style. And there's a little pose. Clothesline by Bret however, and an elbow to the head. In the corner, and the Rougeaus and Bravo get stacked up for some Anvil shoulders. Ref gains control, as Jacques closes in on Bret. Back kick by Bret. Irish whip reversed, and Raymond pulls the rope down on Bret. Gotta love the heel tactics. Bravo tags in, as Bret is thrown into the ring. Sidewalk Slam...sorry...'Side Suplex' by Bravo. Tag to Raymond for some reason, and Jacques up top...Bombs Away by the Rougeaus! Love that move. And there's the 3 count, for the first fall. Winners of the first fall: The Fabulous Rougeaus and Dino Bravo in 4:22 Second Fall: Loser of the fall has to stay in, so it's Bret and Jacques to re-start. Camel Clutch...and Jacques pulls back on the hair for good measure. Did I mention how much Jacques ruled? Anvil in to break the hold. Ref's distracted, and in comes Raymond for another Camel Clutch. No tag, but whatever. They're the Rougeaus. Bravo tags, and stomps on Bret. Irish whip. Bret ducks a clothesline...or tries to, but Bravo's arm catches him which knocks him down. That looked nasty. Cover for 2. Jacques tags in, and puts on the Boston Crab! "U.S.A!" "U.S.A!" "U.S.A!" HE'S FROM CANADA YOU IDIOTS! Oh, wait, they're chanting for Duggan. Nevermind. Bret starts to crawl for his corner. Raymond in to distract the ref. Tag to Neidhart, but Joey Marella didn't see it. And now Raymond is in. But he didn't tag. Ventura: "They look so alike, it's hard to distinguish them'. They have the same tights...that's about it. Abdominal Stretch, right in the corner. Of course the Rougeaus lock arms to add pressure. Tag to Jacques. Little mocking slaps from Jacques...and another Abdominal Stretch. Bret's in trouble. Raymond tags in, and flips over the ropes. Strut. Savate Kick to the gut gets 2. Scoop Slam attempt...but Bret lands on top for a 2 count! Bret thrown to the corner, and a tag by Raymond. Jacques is in. Bret to a neutral corner. Blocks the Monkey Flip though. Inverted Atomic Drop! And a beauty! No-one sells that properly now-a-days. Tag to Raymond. TAG TO DUGGAN! HOOOOOO!!! Duggan with rights on all three men. Double Noggin Knocker™ on Jacques and Dino. Scoop Slam on Raymond. Anvil gets launched in with a splash. Anvil up, 'cause he's not the legal man. Shoulder Tackle to Dino by Anvil. Bret gets slingshotted onto Raymond...and nearly breaks his neck in the process. Bret with a pin, but again, Duggan's legal. Duggan lands an elbow, and covers...for the 3! Ever seen anyone lose to a regular elbow drop before? You have now. Winners of the second fall: The Hart Foundation and Jim Duggan in 7:26 Third Fall: 1 fall each. What a surprise! Or...not. Duggan and Raymond in again. Stomps. Duggan yells at the ref. I'm sure he just said 'get off my ass!' That can't be right. A big HOOO! from Duggan. And a 5 punch in the corner. Duggan to the corner, but he rebounds with a clothesline. Bravo and Jacques grab him though. Bravo in, and he pounds away with Jacques holding. Irish whip, and a boot to the gut. Choke on the ropes by Bravo. Choke on the ropes by Jacques...which was slightly...'unorthodox'. Triple team on Duggan with the ref distracted. Duggan no sells getting his head slammed into the turnbuckle...not once, but three times. The fight back's stopped by Jacques though, who tags in and nails a standing dropkick. Here's another double team, and here come the Foundation to help. Bravo in now. Scoop Slam and an elbow for 2. Inverted Atomic Drop...but Duggan lands in the corner, and tags Bret. Odd. Bret nails Bravo. Inverted Atomic Drop to Jacques. Again. Now Bravo gets some rights in the corner. Elbow to the head, and a Backbreaker. Classic Hitman, and I get a warm feeling inside whenever I see it. Middle Rope Elbow...stopped by Raymond, who pushes Bret off the ropes. Neidhart nails Raymond though. Bret runs Bravo into the ropes for a roll-up attempt, but Bravo hangs on to the ropes. Duggan from nowhere...NAILS BRAVO WITH THE 2x4!!! Bravo's knocked loopy! Bret with the cover...1...2...3! It's over! Ventura: "Now, what do you call THAT!" Monsoon: "I call that 'ingenuity'." Who says commentators are impartial? Winners of the third fall: The Hart Foundation and Jim Duggan in 3:56 Winners of the match, by 2 falls to 1: The Hart Foundation and Jim Duggan in 15:44 Well, as much as I love the Rougeaus and of course Bret, this was nothing special. Little things like Duggan’s weak hot tag and Bret nearly crippling himself on an awkward slingshot splash seemed to keep popping up during the match. Still, it wasn't a BAD match. Certainly the only thing worth watching on the undercard. Which isn’t saying much. But still. **, and I can’t help feeling that may be slightly generous.
