But maybe because they feel the same way as Homer did/does about her. I didn't mind the death either - it was an entertaining episode, but whether or not her death was intended as ludicrous, how the hell could apparel shot out of a t-shirt cannon possess the velocity to push you back so much so that you fall of the back of a set of bleachers? Smithers: Oh, that's Homer Simpson, sir. He's one of your boobs from Sector 7-G. Burns: Simpson, eh? Burns: Well, judging by his outlandish attire, he's some sort of free-thinking anarchist. Smithers: I'll call security, sir. Burns: Excellent. Yes, these color monitors have already paid for themselves... As for favourite episode, that's a tough one. Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2004 I only found out recently that Michael actually did the voice (not the singing however) for his character in Stark Raving Dad. Apparently, he had hand-picked someone who sounded like him to sing for him, as the producers could not afford to have Jackson do both talking and singing roles. Hence the joke in the Itchy and Scratchy movie about the stars where they weren't credited but you could tell it was them. Jackson also wrote Do The Bartman IIRC. The woman that did the voice was gone due to contract disputes, and even though they had hired a replacement to do a few lines here and there for her (and the other characters the woman did), they found that since she was a pretty big supporting character (being as she is one of the Simpsons' neighbors) they decided to do the soap opera-y thing and kill her off. Some saw the death as a last "f-u" to the voice actress, showing her that they were definitely never going to bring her back, and it also gave Ned's character a whole new emotional level of dealing with a really tragic loss. "The Simpsons" have put the axe to a few other characters, two "on screen" deaths (Bleeding Gums Murphy, Frank Grimes) and one "off screen" (Marvin Monroe). Maybe there are others, I can't remember any off the top of my head. They weren't as big of characters as Maude, but at least BGM left someone feeling tragedy (Lisa) while the others just kind of happened. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Yeah Micheal definatly wrote it, I was watching the extras on the season 2 dvd's and one of them is the "do the bart man" video and theres also it with commentary where they talk about him doing it. Also, Michael Jackson didn't do the singing of the happy birthday Lisa song because he didn't want to, not because they couldn't afford him. Listen to the commentary of the episode. M.J. came to them to do the show, but he only wanted to do the speaking voice. The song at the end was an impersonator, but some of the writers/staff still think Michael slipped in his own copy to the audio director or whoever was in charge.
