Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Pretty much along the lines of the Jaws IV that somehow went 3-4 pages. This came on HBO earlier, so decided to watch. This movie is so bad it's not even funny. 1.) The 3-D they used. The scenes where they are 3-D is obvious, but they generally suck. Couldn't they do something cool like a head flying at the screen instead of watching some losers yoyo. 2.) When did Jason become a rapist instead of a blood thirsty murder? The acting for the dialogue is horrible, making the scene even more shitty looking. 3.) Why did Shelly die off screen?! I WANTED HIM TO DIE DAMN IT! 4.) Wussiest gang ever. Wow! Syphaning gas froma truck! What bad asses! What next? They gonna step on the mothers home made pies cooling off on a window? 5.) A Spanish person tries paying for stuff with Food-stamps. Come on, do we need this stereotype in everything? I could add more, but it's still got another 40 minutes. I think I'll read the review Goodear did a while back. So entertaining...
kkktookmybabyaway Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Who was Shelly? Was he the guy toward that end that Jason attacked in the basement? It's been years since I've seen that film. I saw that one (or bits and pieces of it) where at the end Freddy drags Jason's mask in the dirt -- wow, was that awful. And I saw this show on BET -- I only saw one black guy in that film...
DCMaximo Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 What the hell? Part III is my favourite of all the Friday films. You've got the introduction of the hockey mask, the first time the idea of Jason being unstoppable comes into play, some of the greatest deaths (eye-popping goodness, handstand man being cut in half) and I thought Shelly's death was great...the boy who cried wolf effect plus the fact that we get to see him die slowly and painfully instead of just the typical look of shock followed by a machete to the head. True, there are some stupid bits, but not as stupid as the others in the series (like in part 2, where Jason mistakes a girl in his mum's sweater for his mother). To me, part 3 is the quintessential Jason film. I saw that one (or bits and pieces of it) where at the end Freddy drags Jason's mask in the dirt -- wow, was that awful. And I saw this show on BET -- I only saw one black guy in that film... That was part 9...Jason Goes To Hell and yep, that was bollocks.
Youth N Asia Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 3 is bad, but not as bad as 8 or 9. Although I still like the worst movies in the series. And the 3-D is just ugly. But 3 is where Jason gets the mask...so points for that

To me, part 3 is the quintessential Jason film. Bah. Part two ruled. I actually preferred Jason before he was a mindless, unkillable zombie. Part three was okay, though. I like it because Jason was still alive at this point.

NoCalMike Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Part 3 was amazing. From the sleek techno-core soundtrack, to the biker gang, to Shelley. Part 3 had everything you could want in a campy horror flick.
Nighthawk Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 I agree with everything you said, but it's not awful, it's wonderful.

Part 3 had everything you could want in a campy horror flick. I don't know if I'd call it "campy." Especially not when there's so many OBVIOUSLY campy horror movies (such as "Chopping Mall").
Ravenbomb Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 it was okay. Nowhere near as good as part 4, but better than part 2, 6, 8 or 9
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 The only thing good in this one were a few of the death scenes, including the harpoon gun into the chicks eye, the slice the guy down the crotch, and of course, everyone sfavorite, the super 13th special from under the bed/hamick/whatever someones lying on. But otherwise, bleh! I think I liked 2 better, but Jason is so much more intimidating with the hockey mask than a sack and being a crazy hillbilly.
Boner Kawanger Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Part 3 has the Friday the 13th DISCO THEME. Nothing can touch that. If you watch the movie for the first time without freaking out when you hear that song start, you are seriously lacking a heart, you bastard.

Eh....I don't usually pay attention to music in these old films except for the "uh-oh, that bitch/punk is gonna die" ones. I guess I'll rewatch it since it didn't scare me at all. I remember watching this like 10 years ago and getting sick with all the nasty kills, but now they make me laugh (right in the eye!!!)

Its right after the recap of part II. We zoom in on Mrs. Voorhees' head, the title JUMPS out, and then we're rocking so hard. Watch it with a roomful of people.

I didn't turn it on until the guy takes a shit. I'll just rent em all since I don't remember shit from 4-6.
