King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 I'm still more shocked he joined in the first place. He's not a dumb person, so he MUST have known the chances of impressing Vince were slim. I guess the thought or working at MSG and Mania clouded his judgement a bit.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Or he figured, "why not? Not like I'll lose anything by working for him." And did he really? He got exactly what he wanted, and didn't really lose much. Besides the fact that he was booked badly.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 guess you take what you can get.. Ultimo repressed his moveset because of restrictions and keep in mind this is Post Injury Ultimo. You can't be surprised he isn't as crisp as he once was.
Ultimo Dugas 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Yeah I saw this coming from about a million miles away. Even though it is only a leave of absence "officially", I bet that whatever matters he has to take care of in Japan will keep him from returning.

Besides the fact that he was booked badly. For some strange reason, and perhaps I'm being naively idealistic here, I keep hoping that some wrestlers will have, you know, dignity. But in the age of "Eugene", I suppose that's far, far too much to expect.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Ultimo Dragon was in the WWE?
Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Well Vince doesn't have a concept to deal with a Japanese legend I mean think of all the Big Japanese names he had in WWF/WWE Ultimo Dragon Great Sasuke Jinsei Shinzaki etc etc etc TAKA Michinoku wasn't too shabby either. Downhome 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 I'm glad that he's taking a break from WWE. He needs to be off of TV for a while, and then once he returns from Japan, they can give it another go round with the guy.

Tawren 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 WWE had a goldmine and had plenty of potential matches to put Ultimo in that their audience would have loved. Their loss.

Guest Adrian 3:16 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 I'm shocked Vince didn't turf him the day after Mania. Poor Ultimo. I still feel bad about him falling on his face at MSG.
Vyce 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 Yeah, Ultimo worked too "airy," was not anywhere near his prime, and was sloppy/clumsy at times. However, they wouldn't have signed him if they'd have had any clue how he wrestled in the first place and what kind of condition he was currently in. You're right. They would have simply brought in someone from OVW who is approximately 100 times WORSE than Ultimo is today.

I take it you do not realize what I mean. I'm speaking in terms of if they ever decide to do anything with him. They couldn't just up and do it right now, after how they have treated him. If they ever wanted to use him, he needs to be away from any WWE TV, etc... for a while, and then just re-introduce him. I know just as well as you do that they'll never do that though. I'm just saying what they would have to do, if they decided to.

Downhome 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 He's been away from WWE TV for a while. Like I said, hasn't he been on Velocity for the most part, losing at that? I know that show isn't important, but still.
Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2004 I HOPE HOPE HOPE he comes back, if only so I can mark out for his entrance again. I love his ring work in WWE, and I only imagine he's even better when he's not holding back(I've only seen him in music videos and a couple of WAR matches outside WWE)
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted April 15, 2004 I thought Ultimo moved very good for a man in his declining age and health. I believe he might get one last push (well, one push period) versus Rey Mysterio maybe, but thats wishful thinking. Time for me to get money from my bank account to pay for an Ultimo Dragon comp tape....(gets money)

Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted April 16, 2004 PWInsider is saying he's going to be back in WWE around September. But why would he leave if he was knowingly coming back, or if not, so soon? Honestly, WWE fucked Ultimo up the ass big-time. You can't help but pinpoint his SmackDown! appearances, think of how stupid they are and want to smack them in the head.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2004 Ok I've read that Ultimo is just going back to Japan for the summer and he's going to return sometime in the fall. This is the firt time I heard he quit, this is what excatly I read.... WWE Superstar Ultimo Dragon will be taking a break from WWE during the next few months. He plans to fly off to Japan where he has business to attend to. He currently is scheduled to return back to the company in the fall and return to wrestle for them then, however a Japanese publication is reporting he is going back to Japan to wrestle. We'll have more on this shortly. Source: PWInsider.com So I don't think he quit yet.

Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted April 16, 2004 I think they should fire him. They should fire most of the crusiers. They're being wasted and Vince is never going to use them so he might as well free up more money to sign big guys.

They're being wasted and Vince is never going to use them so he might as well free up more money to sign big guys. But Vince would have to authorise that. I agree that their talent is going to waste at the moment, but where would they make the kind of money that they're making at the moment?
