Your Paragon of Virtue Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 Steely Dan? I don't know much about them, but what I know, I don't like.
Guest Tzar Lysergic Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 Coat-What's your opinion of Altar?
PLAGIARISM! Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 I could have sworn Czechers had already assessed and emphatically scoffed at Steely Dan. Still, if you're the type to buy records for the production...
Guest Pizza Hut's Game Face Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 I experienced a Damascene conversion regarding Steely Dan, but those two albums I listed up there aren't very good. I'll stick to Pretzel Logic.
Henry Spencer Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 Coat-What's your opinion of Altar? I've only listened to it once, but I have to say I enjoy it more than any of the other albums I've heard by Boris or Sunn 0))). It feels heavier and more substantial than a good deal of what I've heard from either band. Did you get the vinyl with the monster thirty minute opening track? If not, try to track it down, it absolutely kills.

Giuseppe Zangara Posted November 21, 2007 Author Report Posted November 21, 2007 It's a shame that every Dump album except for the most recent one is out of print. I'm almost tempted to ebay my copies of A Plea for Tenderness, I Can Hear the Music and That Skinny Motherfucker with the High Voice for $$$, but I like them all too much.
Hank Kingsley Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 (Yuck. I did not like this. Like Demolition, it has about 3 songs I enjoyed.) This, on the other hand, is so fucking great and has grown on me tremendously. Next up, Neal Casal's (guitarist/backup vocals for The Cardinals) No Wish to Reminisce
Giuseppe Zangara Posted December 10, 2007 Author Report Posted December 10, 2007 I got a new turntable recently, so I've been listening to nothing lately but items from my rather small record collection. Here's what today and yesterday consisted of: EDIT: I failed to mention an aborted attempt to listen to The Clash's Give 'em Enough Rope. I made it through side one just fine, but side two was too warped to listen to. I wouldn't have thought it possible that one side could be unlistenably warped while the other side was unaffected. EDIT, AGAIN: One last album before I call it a night:

Guest My Pal, the Tortoise Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 I listened to some Kate Nash today. That was some of the worst shit I've heard in months. It was just bad. Not fun bad, like Operator Please. They're fun bad. Kate Nash is bad bad.
Kinetic Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 I'm trying to get through the I'm Not There soundtrack without throwing on Blonde on Blonde instead. Cat Power sounds in over her head on "Stuck Inside of Mobile." I'm on "Tombstone Blues" right now. It sounds...bland.

Not fun bad, like Operator Please. They're fun bad. Kate Nash is bad bad. I can't explain why I like her so much. I just really do. It might come down to the fact I'd like to fuck her, but who knows.
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 Listened to "El Oso" by Soul Coughing for the first time in a million years. It still holds up.
