jester Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Not that I mind too much that he's gone, but how will they explain his absence on television? They probably won't bother. He hasn't been on tv in two weeks and no one's made a peep about his whereabouts. They're just going to go on as if he never existed. Good point. I doubt they'll have Bischoff brag about firing him, because then the marks will think its a work and expect Austin to show up that night. This is exactly what they should do. Don't explain a thing, or mention his name at all, just like they did with Hogan when he left the first time. If they try the "Austin took his ball and went home" shit the marks will boo because Austin can do no wrong. If they say Bishoff/Vince/Johnny Nitro/Fifi fired Austin, they'll expect him to be back next week,
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Hogan + Stonecold + Nash + Jimmy Hart = new promotion. Do the math. It will happen, and they will get a tv deal before tna.
Michrome Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Austin + Jarrett = Hatred. That would never happen. Austin can go work some lazy 10 minute dome matches with no bumps and make a SHITLOAD of money.
SuperJerk Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 I don't think they should do anything, since they've alreadt done two rounds of farewell tributes to the guy in the last two years (one of which was negative, and one of which was a work). I think after his speech at Survivor Series, we've pretty much already covered that ground.
Dangerous A Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 I'm happy as pie. I am glad he's out. If he joins up with a promotion in Japan or TNA, I don't care. He was getting stale on WWE. He'd even be stale on SD. I am glad he's gone and hope they don't explain shit. WWE hasn't been good at explaining things very well (Benoit's sudden infatuation with the Raw title, Angle's motivation for turning heel, etc.) lately and they shouldn't try with this.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 I don't really see that as his fault though. Sure he got some control over his character but not enough to say "Hey I want to kill so and so's heat" Riiiggghhhhttttt. what an awesome response to my post, you've shown me the error of my ways. I will now hate Austin just like all of the other sheep. Are you capable of backing up what you say, or will you continue with the completely useless one word posts that we aren't even supposed to be making anymore. Does anyone have any proof that Austin went around trying to crush every midcarder who ever seemed to be on the verge of getting over? No of couse not, because for all we pretend to know, we don't know shit about the backstage workings of the industry. All we get is second and third hand reports from bitter ex employees and shit. I take reports very lightly until they really begin to add up, and I'm not feeling the Austin as HHH.
EdwardKnoxII Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Ok fine it's been reported that Austin came up with alot of his angles like this last one. And he was really happy about it. And what has Austin done to make himself happy? Drink beer, ride on an ATV, beat people up and take of lots of time doing nothing. And you know that someone as big as Austin has alot of power in the fed. Like the shit with Jericho, Stacy, no one getting a hand up on the bastard. Just look at how he's booked and you'll see.
Enigma Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Good. I was sick of Austin constantly beating the shit out of mid-carders.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 I'm gnna miss Austin a little, but he had nothing left to do anymore besides popping live crowds. He's won every MAJOR title, and more than once each. He's feuded with everyone possible as a wrestler that was high on the card, and his merchandise has been the top selling in WWE history. He has nothing to be ashamed of. Off-Topic: I was going through an old tape with that IWA promotion, and they aired a "classic" match from 1989 between Steve Williams vs. The Punisher. Austin of course, wrestled as S.W. before he realized their was a wrestler with the nickname Dr. Death, and Punisher is I believe Undertaker. Pretty weird to watch these days.
JasonX Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Let me be the first person on this thread to sing: DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD! WHICH OLD WITCH? THE WICKED WITCH! DING DONG, THE WICKED WITCH IS DEAD!!!!!!!! So long Austin. You haven't been worth a shit since Wrestlemania 2001. You've ruined numerous careers and become the very imbodiment of a wrestler who put himself as being moe important that the well-being of the company and your fellow wrestlers....

This everyone, is a stupid man. Austin was worth-a shit until he took his ball and left in 2002. His 2001 year was pretty good with the heel turn, Two Man Power Trip, feuding with Kurt Angle, and later...well, afte rangle he turned face and jobbed to Jericho at Vengeance in December.
Toxxic Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Best. Fucking. News. This. Year. Seriously. I don't give a shit about whether Austin had control of his character or not - the way he came over on tv, whether his fault or creative's, was appalling. The Stone Cold character endlessly damaged the midcard, took up airtime pointlessly, annoyed the shit out of me... and had that whole thing with Stunnering Stacy FOR NO REASON which possibly infuriated me more than any other thing WWE has ever done. Yes, even necrophilia. I don't want that Stone Cold back. Ever. Bring him back as a commentator, sure. But unless his on-screen interaction with other talent is either as a wrestler or as a commentator, keep that bastard off my tv. *celebrates*

Okay, I'll conceed that. I'm not saying Austin is without fault but there have been times where Austin was willing to work with younger wrestlers such as Eddy, though I believe that got derailed due to the walkout. I strongly dislike seeing everyone shit on Austin like this becuase frankly if it had been reported that Austin had died or if Austin got screwed over ala Bret Hart every poster in here would be sucking his dick talking about their favorite Austin moments. I apoligize for jumping on you but I find this ridiculous considering how much Austin has done for the WWE and Vince. When he comes back in 5 months most of you will be falling all overyourselves to praise him. Steve This One's for You:
Zack Malibu Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 To quote Ron Simmons... "Damn." Austin's long been a favorite of mine, dating back to the feud with Chris Adams in Dallas. I will agree that he had grown very stale, and when they tried to make him into the GM/Sheriff/whatever just to keep him on TV, I really wasn't into it much. Still, it didn't make me hate the guy. I know he won't show up in TNA, but there is no way he's done in wrestling. He'll either make a mint in Japan, or him, Goldberg, the NWO gang, and others will start up a promotion, and will get some type of deal based solely on the name value of all involved.
JasonX Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 This everyone, is a stupid man. Austin was worth-a shit until he took his ball and left in 2002. His 2001 year was pretty good with the heel turn, Two Man Power Trip, feuding with Kurt Angle, and later...well, afte rangle he turned face and jobbed to Jericho at Vengeance in December. With the sole exception of that brief period where Austin and Angle were paired up and doing skits where Austin was being tormented by Angle's very pressence, Austin's entire heel turn was a complete and utter failure. His matches as a heel sucked as the logical things (IE jobbing Austin as a heel out to make a brand new batch of babyfaces, such as Jericho and Benoit) were abandoned to have Austin keep pulling his shit where he was being dominant and unstoppable. And lets not forget Austin's part in burying the WCW and ECW wrestlers during the Invasion..... 2001 was the year Austin turned into a huge sack of shit and lost all usefullness as a wrestler.....
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Austin's heel matches were still very good as heel. Him not putting people over has nothing to do with the quality.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Then explain why he was involved in FIVE MOTYC in 2001. 1.)vs. Triple H from NWO 01 2.) vs. The Rock from WM X-Seven 3.) vs. Chris Benoit on Smackdown 4.) vs. Kurt angle on Summerslam 5.) vs. Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit on KOTR 01. Austin pretty much carried the load of heels on his shoulder in most of 2001.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 . Does anyone have any proof that Austin went around trying to crush every midcarder who ever seemed to be on the verge of getting over? The closest to confirmation was Jeff Jarrett. Of course, his actions on TV made it pretty obvious. He'll be back for XXI.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 Jeff Jarrett was awful in the WWE. His feud with Chyna totally exposed that. He was tolerable in WCW but I have very little use for Jeff.

You're a moron. He had TREMENDOUS matches as a heel. Benoit and Angle's best WWE matches were with Austin during this period. He had a damn good match with Van Dam. He had a damn good match with Booker. He carried Taker bigtime at J-day. He carried the vast majority of the May tag. Austin's 2001 is widely considered one of the best years of work EVER for a single worker, get a fucking clue.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 Thank you, Michrome. At least someone agrees. I forgot about the Judgment Day with Taker. Probably their second best match together besides Summerslam 1998.
Guest wrestlingbs Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 I hope they bury him on TV just to hear JR stab his friend in the back: "It's like John Wayne walking away from a fight... then beating up his wife, then returning because Jimmy Stuart made a lousy cowboy, then showing that he can't fight anymore because he's too beat up, then mouthing off to Clint Eastwood that he can't "shoot right," then beating up another woman, then walking away from another fight because because he couldn't have the copyright to Trigger. That cold heartless bastard!" Oh course, I don't really think Jimmy Stuart made a bad cowboy.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 And the above makes sense...how? And pass over whatever you're smokin'.
Guest wrestlingbs Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 And the above makes sense...how? And pass over whatever you're smokin'. It's a joke. You know, ha ha. I wasn't making fun of Austin, I was making fun of how JR turned so easily on the guy he called a friend. No wait, I was making fun of both that and Austin. You're right. Carry on.
Jobber of the Week Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 THIS HAS BEEN A GOOD YEAR. :):):)
Guest Nanks Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 I agree that Austin hasn't been what he once was of late, but still, what's his final act on WWE television now??? Stunnering Rene Dupree?? That's sad. He deserves some kind of special send-off. Regardless of recent stuff, he's still one of the best wrestlers we've seen in WWE history. Don't get all stupid about him not being "technically" great either, to say he was never any good is just outright stupid.

He hyped up Shelton Benjamin for his match on the March 29th Raw (Correct me if I'm wrong with the date) as his final on screen appearence.
Guest Nanks Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 Ah yes, right you are. That's better than what I'd thought, but still, not quite enough...
Guest Ray Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 You haven't been worth a shit since Wrestlemania 2001. Nonsense. He was great throughout 2001 (did you miss Austin vs. Benoit and Austin vs. Angle?) You've ruined numerous careers Please tell me whos career was ruined. I'm dying to know.
