The Czech Republic Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 In all seriousness, I ask this. As long as the season is, how many games below .500 would it take for the Yankees to dig themselves too deep between now and the All-Star break?
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 3 games below .500. I am assuming the leading team would be somewhere around 8 games above .500 at that point.
Vern Gagne Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 I'd say at least 8 games under. With the Wild Card 3 games under isn't that great. That of course is assuming no team pulls away, and right know I don't see that happening.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 With the wild card, I'd say about 5 games under.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 Yankees are 2 games under .500 right now. Vasquez pitching on 3 days rest tommorow against Pedro. Hopefully that puts them at 8-11
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 As an aside, I wouldn't count on the Yankees being below .500. Soon, they'll get to clean up on the AL Central. They're down right now because they've had six games against the AL East's other elite teams.
Vern Gagne Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 With the wild card, I'd say about 5 games under. I'd still give them a shot. That's assuming we don't have a runner away Wild Card team.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 In doing the math, I figure we're 80 games in. Last year, the Red Sox won the Wild Card with a .586 Winning Percentage. If the wild card leader is on that pace, they'll have 47 wins. 5 games under would be 35 wins, a difference of twelve games. That's not an insurmountable lead, but its only accomplished once every twenty years or so.
The Czech Republic Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 Yankees' next ten games: 1. Boston 2/3/4. Oakland 5/6/7. Kansas City 8/9/10. Oakland  If they want to pull a winning record out of their ass, they'd better stand up. They can't afford to not sweep the Royals because the A's won't be too easy,
Vern Gagne Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 If it's at the All-Star break it's more likely 88-90 games played. That of course would make the task even harder, going by last years numbers.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 Some "fan" your are, AS... ::Â Where's the loyality ? Despite them playing like SHIT, I remain a Yankee fan. I'm not sure why exactly a fan has to pretend nothing is wrong when his team is playing like a bunch of AAA rejects.

As long as the season is, how many games below .500 would it take for the Yankees to dig themselves too deep between now and the All-Star break? I'd say about 6. Give the best team a 10 over .500 record, and that's alot to make up.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 Yanks' Next four games  Sunday: Pedro Martinez Tuesday: Tim Hudson Wednesday: Mark Mulder Thursday: Barry Zito
MrRant Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 Anglesault is going to have a ulcer by Friday.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 I think I already do. Â I'll be at full stroke level by Friday.

I'm not sure why exactly a fan has to pretend nothing is wrong when his team is playing like a bunch of AAA rejects. Good for you AS. Showing true passion. When a team you like is playing like a bunch of underachievers they deserve to be ridiculed.
Bored Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 The Yankees are going to be catching the A's at a good time because they are in the middle of a 19 games in 20 days stretch with 16 of them on the road. They are only 6-6 to this point during this stretch and are in danger of getting swept in their only home series today by the Angels.
The Czech Republic Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 OH MY GOD YANKEES JUST GAVE UP A HIT TO BOSTON IN THE FIRST INNING IT'S ALL OVER
JangoFett4Hire Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 Posada dropped TWO easy pop flies... wowzas
Bruiser Chong Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 Since I've got Vasquez on my fantasy team and am hurting for any sort of help from my slumping squad, I'm behind the Yanks today.
Slayer Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 You can't spell Derek Jeter without a bunch of E's
The Czech Republic Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 Hahahahaha. The Yankees are on a slippery slope indeed. If they keep this up, they'll be the Tampa Bay Devil Rays' bitch by July. If they keep sucking like this, what ramifications does this have for the high-priced guys like K-Rod, Giambi, Sheffield? Think Steinbrenner is going to start trading or releasing these guys after this year? It's interesting. Â Now watch, after I predict a third-place finish for New York they win 7 in a row
Guest FrigidSoul Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 If he releases them he still has to pay them so let him. Â Nobody will take Giambi in a trade unless the Yanks agree to pay 75% of what's left of his contract, I don't think anybody would take Sheffield unless most of his contract is paid for by the Yanks, they won't get rid of A-Hole.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 I had tickets to the game on Friday, but I'm not spending money on this disaster known as the New York Yankees.
Sandman9000 Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 This Yankees squad is not only an embarassment to past Yankee squads, but an embarassment to baseball as well. Â Let them finish in last. The way they've been playing, it's almost too good for them.
Guest Vitamin X Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 New York Yankees 8-11.... Â Florida Marlins 12-5.... Â FLUKE THAT, BITCH~!
Guest Anglesault Posted April 26, 2004 Report Posted April 26, 2004 Florida Marlins 12-5.... FLUKE THAT, BITCH~! Long year.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 26, 2004 Report Posted April 26, 2004 Indeed. The Marlins don't get to play against the Phillies every day.
