PROMO: “The Deadly Rhythm”.

The difficulty for a contending army

Is to make the circuitous direct

And to make the adverse advantageous.

Thus make their road circuitous

And lure them with advantage.

Setting out later than others and arriving sooner

Is knowing the appraisals of circuitous and direct.

-Chapter Seven of the Sun-Tzu.

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

Nathaniel Kibagami hammers away on a worn and beaten punching bag, blood flowing from his hands and sweat dripping into his eyes. He doesn’t use gloves; he doesn’t wear them in the ring, so there’s no reason to wear them now. His hands were hand enough to stand this sort of rigor once. He would have them that hard again.

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

There are no shortcuts, this time.

BAM!

BAM!

He knew this would be hard without the drugs, the surgery, the painkillers. He knew that he would likely lose, at least at first. There is a rhythm to fighting that Nathaniel Kibagami was intimately familiar with, once. A rhythm that affects thought as much as it affects motion. A rhythm that tells your leg not to buckle, a rhythm that tells your shoulders to move a second before they otherwise would.

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

It is difficult to find, and it is more difficult still to recapture.

BAM!

BAM!

Kibagami has lost it before, and he’s found it again, and in his heart, he knows he still has something left to give. There is something in him that still needs to fight – and fight it will.

BAM!

BAM!

Zenon is almost as bitter as Kibagami himself, and he knows exactly what kind of match he’s booked for Smarkdown. There is no love lost between Silent and Janus – he knows already that Kibagami and Terrence have no place in this match – and Zenon wants to see him broken, for good, in front of millions upon millions of people.

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

He should never have lost to Clark, and he knows that. He should not have lost to Toxxic, and he knows that. They don’t have the talent or the experience to best him at his peak, and those losses scorch the inside of his soul because he knows that he is better. He has no doubt in what he does – he has shame at what he does not do.

BAM!

BAM!

He should have been ready.

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

The dark brown of the punching bag is smeared with red, but Nathaniel Kibagami does not seem to mind. His own blood does not bother him – he’s seen too much of it already – but there will be much more of it on Monday night if he cannot recapture the deadly rhythm he has known before.

BAM!

BAM!

The differences between Silent and Nathaniel Kibagami might’ve made a difference when he had the luxury of pills and needles that kept him from falling apart. The differences themselves were a luxury. They are differences he cannot afford any longer.

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

His match against Janus will be bloody, and it will be brutal. It will be decisive – either he will stand victorious and confident in his abilities, or he will be defeated for the final time. Terrence might not understand the idea of rhythm in fighting, but Janus certainly does. Kibagami – Silent – saw to that himself, and Janus hates him for it.

BAM!

BAM!

Hates him deeply.

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

Hates him, perhaps, more than Terrence does.

BAM!

BAM!

Nathaniel Kibagami’s hands are bloody, but he does not stop punching – he does not dare stop, not now.

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

He is beginning to recapture the deadly rhythm.

BAM!

BAM!

But if it escapes him this time, he will not hear it again.

END.

Blah blah good promo blah blah thoughtful analysis blah blah interesting notation blah blah Z's commented, now go get your 130 hits.

I couldn't think up much more to say. Sorry. It IS a good promo, the premise being done I don't know how many times before hand aside. A much needed interior look at Kibagami's current mindset. Hooray for most things.

Very nice. Capturing the essence of who Kibagami is. A warrior who knows he has the fire inside him, and is seeking to recapture it again. And he'll have to, in order to survive possibly the greatest weapon he created.

...okay, I suck at cool sounding observations. Kibagami definitely knows what's at stake, and he's not prepared to lose. At all. And it will all come to a head, soon. Very soon.

I like that promo. I like it a lot. And I will be VERY interested to see who wins out of Terrence and Kibs.

Sun-Tzu makes me smile. You said to me that this wasn't the good promo, but I beg to differ, even though the whole punching bag bit with the thinking has been done before, the look into Kibagami's head was entertaining. There is just something about the idea of a "deadly rhythm" that I found captivating... mainly since my personal trainer uses a similar kind of idea as motivation for me (during my training). There's a rhythm you're trying to always capture in your workout, one that you must capture if you are to achieve your goals. You must find it and grab onto it, otherwise your mindset will not be appropriate and your body will collapse (and not fail). Um, yeah, anyway, solid promo, now onto the next!
