I still don't like Eugene. Why couldn't they just have Dinsmore debut as a good technical wrestler? Why do they pigeonhole him as a retard? He could've been the next Dean Malenko, now he's just the next WWE clown retread.

I remember hearing he would be an idiot savant when the gimmick was first introduced. Good to se they're going back to it, because I don't think Dinsmore could pull off being an idiot in the ring. He's far too technically proficient for that.

 

My hopes about this angle is that Bischoff randomly gives Eugene a title match against Benoit, and Benoit thinks it won't be even a challenge, but instead we get a 15 min+ technical masterpiece of a match. Just to show how good Dinsmore is.

You people have to understand that the WWE has to put characters on Television. You can bitch about it all day long, but when I watch the show, I like to SUSPEND DISBELIEF If you find it offensive, turn the channel. You can bitch and moan....but it makes you sound like a bitch. Deal with it.

I like the character and look forward to seeing him tear it up in the ring.

It definately would be awesome idea, Eugene wants to wrestle but Regal and Bischoff says no.... and Eugene gets in more trouble with say La Resistance and they demand a tag match at the PPV vs Regal and Eugene... Eugene is all excited and swears to Regal.. Im a good wrestler you'll see Regal immm a good wrestler my mommy says so.

 

But during the match its Mostly all Regal doing the wrestling because he doubts Eugene's abilities, till Regal gets royally beaten down by the Frenchmen (The English can't live it done) He takes one of their Double team moves and is thrown into his corner, and Eugene Blind tags in....

 

La Resistance is laughing, but then Eugene Busts out some Puro Hoss Wrestling Moves Real Crisp and Stiff. Out goes Syvian and Rob tries to back attack him and holds him up for Syvian to get his worthless ass back in to nail Poor Eugene, But Regal shakes off the attacks and have marveled at his Ward's abilities, and Brings out the Power of the Punch and nails the back of Rob's head. Eugene ducks and Syvian clotheslines the Woosey Rob forward and Boom Eugene Grabs up Syvian and hits a Rolling Dragon Suplex! (Heh like that will happen)

Yeah he could be the next Dean Malenko, I mean he has been in OVW long enough to figure out over 1000 holds. Anyway we see how good the good techincal wrestler gimmick is working for Lance Storm. It only took Chris Beniot 18 years to win a World Championship with that gimmick. Basically most marks will not put over a guy that is just a good techincal wrestler.

I had my doubts about Eugene at first, but I'll be damned if he's not already more over than just about everybody else they've brought up. I'm still laughing over when Grenier ripped the head of his stuffed easter bunny and the heel heat it got. And how about that Eugene chant this Monday?

 

I don't have any problems with the Eugene character. Unlike with Gowen, people realize he's not retarded (well, maybe the marks don't) so there's not that circus-like atmosphere in watching him. And there's plenty of ways to evolve the character and get rid of "Eugene" when the time comes.

 

I'll take Eugene over Nick Dinsmore, the "hungry up and coming youngster" or whatever lame sell they'd give him, anyday.

Dean Malenko did not do very well in WWE as the silent man of 1001 armbars and his ladies man character did not last long either. Sorry but Dean was an average looking guy with little character development. Unless Nick starts having 20 minute matches with Jericho, Beniot, Angle, HBK, HHH the wrestling genius character will not get over.

The fans never really cared for him till after his feud with Jericho and it was mainly Jericho doing in all the work in the feud.

That's what i'm thinking too, say Dinsmore does the Eugene gimmick for another 6 months or so, get it to the stage where he is really beloved by the fans, then have him turn heel on someone (it'd have to be someone pretty popular to make it work), then the next Raw, he comes out as Nick Dinsmore, doing his smartass heel gimmick from OVW and says that he just acted like a retard to get into WWE, he used the fans emotions to boost his own career etc. That way, he'd be a pretty over heel and by the time the hype from the "Eugene" gimmick has died out, Dinsmore can move onto something else without having to have a complete gimmick overhaul.

I've seen Dinsmore wrestle in OVW, and if they let him go like he did there, the Eugene character will work. Notice how they started by having him mention Pat Patterson was French-Canadian and the first Intercontinental champion.
