Some would immediately say no, because it led to an idiotic angle and Hogan leaving. But Hogan leaving might have beeen better in the long run, because he was so out for himself. Do you think the angle could have been saved?

How was Hogan out for himself? He only said he didn't want to be lost in the mix, and seriously, if you were Hulk Hogan you would say the same. Otherwise, from his 2002-03 run, he did the right thing EVERY Time. Damn him for losing to Brock though.

It was among the most retarded gimmicks the WWE came up with until Eugene, and then the whole thing went to you know what. I know it's suppsoedly Nick Dinsmore's idea, but he is a WWE employee, and thus it was come up with by the WWE. I've already discussed Hirohito, and Mordecai will only work I think if they throw him against 'Taker

There was no way that the angle could have been saved, and luckily Hogan's leaving was the mercy killing that it needed. The ridiculous nature of the gimmick, over-reliance in the McMahon family to drive the story, the quick arrival and dismissal of a way too bloated and crazy Piper, having an egotistical and unrealistic one legged wrestler being predominately featured, and somone actually believing that the wrestling aspect of the feud would be carried by Sean OHaire are all the factors that killed the angle dead on arrival.

Actually, any one of those factors could kill any angle.

Meh, if I was Hogan I would have retired when I knew my knees were being kept together with Jell-O.

That sums up how I feel

Uh, I thinks ya got the wrong folder.

EDIT: SHIT! I wasted my 3000th post on this crap........boo I say boo!

I didn't even acknowledge my own 3K post, since, if you were to negate the "zero-posts" in HD, my real post count would be up around 3600

Because Hogan was pissed off that he ONLY got $250,000 for his Wrestlemania match with Vince and didn't like that the Mr. America angle was in the "midcard" despite the fact that it was monopolising SD!

I didn't like the angle (except for the lie decector segment), but I did mark out for "Real American"

That and it was report that anything Vince would ask Hogan to do something like a match, losing, what have you Hogan would always ask for more money.

I actually thought the angle was somewhat amusing, but there was NO WAY it should have been the focus of the show like it was.

Agreed. It's really sad that they were banking on Mr. America bringing in more money than whatever the current WWE Title feud was at the time.

Brock/Big Show I think was the angle at the time...so really, it's lose lose situation. Thank God Angle was thrown in the mix in July leading up to Vengeance.

Too bad it was already done from October-January, and "Can Brock F5 Big Show" got old since he did it EVERY FUCKIN WEEK.

Wait...Mr. America was Hulk Hogan? WTF?

I can see why you're confused.

Hogan was disgusted and left right after the stunt granny angle where Mr. America tore up her grand kids autograph book.

So it was Hogan for the first week and then it was Paul Diamond.

I thought we had another potential "Vince McMahon's Ladder Leg drop" on our hands
