Styles 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2004 You know Hartfan has a point. Several people say Rock/Hogan was edited on the WMx8 disk even though it wasn't and if we just went on one person's opinion, we'd all believe it. Perhaps, he just had a distorted memory, and it didn't sound as impressive since he knew it would happen? I'm reserving judgement until I get the DVD myself, but I'm not totally convinced they edited the crowd... I still haven't gotten an answer if they edited Jericho's slip off the top rope right before Trish comes out?
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2004 The only edits WWE does is when they edit out techincal errors, sponsorship ads, other ads, botches, etc. Why do they edit out sponsorship ads anyway? I never got that. I only noticed when I saw the Castrol GTX ad was not seen during the Dudleyz/ RVD - Kane ring introduction. And I don't mind them editing out most botches, but when they mess with crowd reaction, yeah that pisses me off. I'm still getting the WM XX DVD despite the lack of good easter eggs. Kaertos 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2004 I don't understand some of these responses at all. Two great matches and a slew of good to pretty good matches aren't enough to buy the DVD? I'll be buying it because the tape I made of the event live has a problem (weird little line at the bottom of the screen and a "clicking" sound in the audio... can't wait for my DVD recorder) and I want to have WrestleMania XX in a more permanent form. I'm glad they added any extras at all in fact. The ones they added are the ones I wanted. And as far as Easter Eggs go, I have never purchased a DVD just because the Easter Eggs were good. Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted April 26, 2004 I didn't pick up on the "This match sucks!" chants, but I think that there was a chant that I couldn't make out. Yeah, Grand Slam is spot on with why I'd get the DVD - no matter how it was, it wasn't a complete disaster, and even if it kind of was..., I'd still get the DVD anyway for the reason that he gave. If it was a complete disaster, and I mean complete disaster, WWE would probably still go all out on making it. Probably. Interesting thought. I haven't checked the region 4 release date yet. I don't really agree with that. Beyond the two main events, there were no other real redeeming matches (maybe Evolution vs. RocknSock, but that's it). However the crowd did elevate Brockberg into a surreal entertaining spectacle, which, unedited, would add at least something to the DVD. If the E cuts out that noise, then all you have at the beginning of the match is a five minute silent staredown, that will immediately make me hit the >> button on my DVD remote On the other hand, I do admit it was a bit hasty for me to jump the gun on one poster's opinion (that now appears unreliable). Guest M. Harry Smilac Report post Posted April 26, 2004 Screw Goldberg/Lesnar. All I wanna know is if in the Rock-Sock/Evolution match do we still get to hear Flair say "I don't think so motherfucker" as he pulls rocky away by the leg before he can make the tag to Foley. If that's edited,I will go from def buying to debating.
pochorenella 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2004 I see some people are complaining that the Greatest WM Matches Special doesn't have the complete matches included. Please remember that the WMXII Iron Man match was number one, it lasts over an hour, so it would be totally unrealistic to have it included. You don't expect WWE to give you everything you want on a silver platter, do you? If they geve you every match you wanted on a single DVD then there would be nothing left for them to release. Some others are complaining they edited Ultimo Dragon's slip. I was there live for this one and saw both slips, it's no big deal. Besides, Eddie Guerrero also slipped BIG TIME on WMX-7 (I was also there live) and I don't remember anybody complaining that it got edited on the DVD. Maybe just because it's Eddie we can forgive it, right? Now, editing the crowd noises really bothers me somewhat, because I was chanting along the whole time, mostly at Goldberg (I still have some respect for Brock), including a Goldberg sucks chant that I thought was pretty decent. And regarding HBK's supposed heel heat on WMXX, I don't get it because it didn't sound that loud for me. In fact, he actually had some cheers when he entered, but I'm not sure how it came across on TV. It's just that Benoit was the crowd favorite, no doubt, and I almost ruined my throat chanting for him whenever I could 'cause I was worried he wouldn't get a positive reaction based on his previous promo appearance with Eddie on the TitanTron. The crowd actually didn't pop for him that much there.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2004 I'll download the 2 good matches and scrap the rest of this show. No way I'm plunking down any good amount of change to get a bunch of discs that mean exactly shit to me. This was a 2 match show. I'll get them for free somewhere. Anyway I can stick it to WWE, I will. Fuck WMXX.
Kaertos 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2004 Wow. There are some pretty vehement reactions on this topic. And to be honest, I don't understand most of them. I doesn't sound to me like the crowd reaction has been changed at all on the DVD. Granted, I haven't been able to directly compare the two (yet) but I doubt it is as bad as some people have made it sound. My opinion on the matter: Don't care. Likely, I will skip over that match as often as watch it. On the grand scale of things, it was a bad match made memorable only by crowd reaction and the trivial (in the long run) fact that all three men involved in the match are gone. If I want to watch a match elevated by crowd reaction, I'll watch my tape of Hogan / Rock from X8. Terrible match, but still better than the snooze-fest that was Brock / Goldberg. I'll download the 2 good matches and scrap the rest of this show. No way I'm plunking down any good amount of change to get a bunch of discs that mean exactly shit to me. This was a 2 match show. I'll get them for free somewhere. Anyway I can stick it to WWE, I will. Fuck WMXX. Ah yes... theft... good solution. Other than that, it is hard to argue with that kind of well thought out logic. Beyond the two main events, there were no other real redeeming matches (maybe Evolution vs. RocknSock, but that's it). I disagree (obviously, since he is disagreeing with my earlier post). I enjoyed Jericho / Christian and Cena / Big Show. The women's match could have been better, but was worth watching. Neither tag title match was as good as they should have been, and the same goes for the Cruiserweight match. As I said, Goldberg / Lesnar was trash. Undertaker's return was a true mark-out moment, even if the match wasn't exactly Flair / Steamboat. I agree with you on Evo / Rock 'n Sock, but then again Rocky and Foley are two of my favorite guys. Of course, we all (alright, not all of us, but a majority) agree that the two World Title matches were great. I think I might be missing something here, but hat sums up my thoughts pretty well... iliketurtles 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2004 One thing I'm intrested in is did they edit out all the music they used by the bands in the Mania of Wrestlemania movie? If you aren't gunna plan on paying to use the rights for not only the original broadcast but the DVD version, then don't use songs by bands at all.
pochorenella 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2004 WMXX was a terrific show and it's totally worth buying on DVD. Any extras the DVD has is just icing on the cake for me. That's all I'll say about this.

pochorenella 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2004 Of course he had heel heat, it's just that it wasn't getting-booed-out-of-the-building heel heat. The crowd booed big time when HBK superkicked Benoit when he had HHH in the sharpshooter, too. But they did stomp along when he prepared the superkick. Hell, I know I was, and I was rooting for Benoit. My point is that Benoit was the favorite for sure, but the crowd wasn't hating everything HBK did in the match. cawthon777 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Picked it up at FYE this morning (and I recommend everyone else try there too ... on sale for $25 plus an $8 mail-in rebate ... so the original price of $35 is slashed to $17). Watched some of the Disc 2 extras - post / pre match interviews, press conference at Planet Hollywood, the history of Rock & Sock, Eddie on Byte This, the TV promos, etc. Also checked out the main event. Haven't had time to look through much else. Being that I was there for the show obviously it holds more meaning than had I watched the PPV ... but I thought it was a solid effort all-around. I got my copy at FYE too. $17 for a three-disc set is a pretty good deal. I really like the presentation of the packaging. Unlike the Flair set, the discs are very easy to remove. The case also snaps shut instead of just folding over. I skimmed through the handicap match and it seems like Flair's "I don't think so, motherfucker" was edited out. I'll watch the full match later to make sure, but for now, it doesn't seem to be there.

Also, for whatever reason, Stacy's theme song is some generic music and not Kid Rock. Not that I care one way or the other, just mentioning it. Watched the Mania Behind Wrestlemania. I missed the original airing due to some stupid basketball on UPN. Great stuff. And HartFan, all the original music is still in. They even have deleted segments focusing on Triple H / Booker, Hogan / Vince, and a behind-the-scenes of Jesse narrating.

DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 I fail to see a problem here. The extras were announced well in advance, and if you thought those 10 matches were going to just be on the DVD in full when one of them is an hour, and a DVD should only be holding 3 hours of video, you're a moron. I'll I'm interested in is condensed versions of the matches with comments from others. If I wanted to watch the 10 Grestest Matches in full, I'd stick in whichever of the corresponding 19 other WM's it was on into the VCR or DVD player.
