Guest DeputyHawk Report post Posted April 26, 2004 Not which is best, or which is your favourite, but which in your opinion are the most important/ most significant promotions operating in America today. I ask because my own UK perspective seems to be slightly askew on this. From across the pond, I would place them approximately: 1--WWE (Raw & Smackdown) 2--NWA: TNA 3--Ring Of Honor 4--Combat Zone Wrestling 5--Pro Wrestling Guerilla 6--IWA Mid-South 7--3PW 8--ECWA 9--Revolution Pro 10-OVW 11-NWA Wildside 12-World-One 13-Jersey All-Pro Wrestling 14-USA Pro 15-Ultimate Pro Wrestling 16-NJPW Inoki Dojo 17-Revolution X 18-NWA Florida 19-International Wrestling Cartel 20-Gateway Championship Wrestling Please correct me, plus add any significant feds I may have missed out. Guest Jay Z. Hollywood Report post Posted April 26, 2004 (edited) Yikes, top 20 is pretty hard to do. What I do is usually group them in levels: Level 1: WWE Level 2: ROH, NWA TNA Level 3 CZW, IWA Mid-South, NWA Wildside, PWG Level 4 3PW, IWC, ECWA, JAPW, Rev Pro, UPW- Level 5 Top regional feds- ie NECW, USA Pro, GCW Level 6 Everybody else I haven't figured out where to put World 1 yet, somewhere between levels 3 and 4 -and there might be some movement on the list, with JAPW moving up to level 3 judging by their newest live attendance figures. Inoki Dojo and OVW I'd put outside the level list because of their "training center" status for NJPW and WWE Edited April 26, 2004 by Jay Z. Guest DeputyHawk Report post Posted April 28, 2004 Overall Top 20 from the nine lists to date: 1--WWE 2--NWA:TNA 3--ROH 4--IWA Mid-South 5--CZW 6--PWG 7--Jersey All-Pro 8--NWA Wildside 9--3PW 10-OVW 11-ECWA 12-Revolution Pro 13-UPW 14-NJPW Inoki Dojo 15-World-One 16-IWC 17-USA Pro 18-Lucha VaVoom 19-NWA Florida 20-All-Pro Wrestling IWA Mid-South getting a higher rating than CZW was a surprise (mainly due to SoCalTF completely omitting Zandig & co from the Top 20 - harsh!), as was Jersey All-Pro coming as high as no.7 - possibly due to the impressive crowd they pulled at their most recent show? Lucha VaVoom and All-Pro I've not really been following, but will amend that as I try to perfect the "push-me poll" monthly rankings system I've been working on. This time next year, I would reckon World-One will be firmly entrenched in the Top 10. Cheers to everyone who posted!

Well, IWA-MS has been having some absolutely stand-out shows lately; they've been "off da hook," as the kids would say, this whole 2004, and if you look at the cards for some of their upcoming shows, I don't see how in the world they could suck. I put IWA over CZW, and I'm surprised that others aren't doing so as well. And if we could include all of NA in this, IWS would rank, as well as the Mexican lucha feds. ulfistgut 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 I'm guessing several people missed the point of the thread and thats why the average = weird. Some people have done preference. Some people have done drawing. Some people have done significance (e.g IWAMS draws a low blip in terms of drawing but influences lots of indies in how they make new stars) And some guys are just a weird mix (e.g I'm guess SoCal-guy left out CZW due to dislike - but then put LuchaVaVoom 3rd because they draw well)

IWAMS most certainly don't suck from the few shows by them I've seen. I was just surprised they're considered a more significant fed than CZW, as they're only just starting to have their tapes really noticed on a larger scale amongst fans over here in the UK, and ROH/CZW shows have been the staple diet for a year or so now. I'm glad they're getting the love, and all things considered I think they ARE a more important fed than CZW.
