Fuzzy Dunlop 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 Well, Dusty's whole thing went on way too long, and he was throwing stuff and inciting the fans to throw stuff as well, but all Kerry Wood did is yell at the ump about a bad call; hitters and pitchers complain about calls all the time. Fuzzy Dunlop 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 Manager Dusty Baker and pitcher Kerry Wood of the Chicago Cubs have each been disciplined for their conduct during the Cubs-Cincinnati Reds games in Chicago, Illinois on April 16 and April 17, 2004, respectively. Baker has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount for his inappropriate actions during the bottom of the seventh inning during the April 16th game. Wood has been suspended for five games and fined an undisclosed amount for his inappropriate actions during the top of the ninth inning of the April 17th game. Bob Watson, Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement. Both suspensions are scheduled to begin tonight. If appealed, Wood's suspension will be held in abeyance until the process is complete. I just found this on MLB.com. Mik 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 The Rockies just made the mistake of walking Mike Lowell to get to Hee Seop Choi in the top of the 9th, as he goes deep for a 3 run HR (7) to put the Marlins up 9-4. With the way this series has been going, that's not a guarantee. Also in the game, Miguel Cabrera hit a HR to tie Barry Bonds for the Major League lead (9). Mik 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2004 I figured this is as good a place as any to put this... AJ Burnett threw 50 pitches today, and has already worked his curveball back into his rotation. He is supposed to pitch simulated batting practice later in the week. The Marlins, doctors, and AJ expect him back for July 1. This is gonna be huge for the Marlins. There are plenty here who already know, but for those who don't...AJ has probably the best stuff in the whole Marlins rotation. He lead the majors in complete games two years ago and was towards the top in shutouts. Hence the injury, as Torborg threw his arm off. I just wish they'd put Justin Wayne into the rotation, to see what he can offer, and have Oliver go long relief and spot start. But, I guess you go with the vet for now. Two pitchers with low ERAs despite bad peripherals, Kirk Rueter and Nate Cornejo, have been shelled this year. Darren Oliver is getting hit, and Damian Moss still can't put it together.
