Bruiser Chong Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 The Cubs got absolutely shelled tonight, plain and simple. With Johnson throwing like the Randy Johnson of old, they only needed one run. I attribute the Cubs' 180 to my comments that I made in Al's baseball column this week. You'll note that I made mention of how reliable Zambrano is, how great the bullpen has been and how the Cubs' offense has come alive. The opposite was true on all counts tonight. Oh well, that's bound to happen during the season. I will say that Zambrano's age and emotions really became apparent tonight. I've always admired the spirit and emotion he's shown for the game, but he was like a little leaguer on the mound tonight. Granted he wasn't getting some calls that he should've, but his reactions were quite juvenille.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 This Os/Mariners game is like watching paint dry. Not even through the 2nd inning (over an hour to play an inning and a half) and Gil Meche has thrown 70 pitches, but its only 1-0 Orioles. Matt Riley has a high pitch count too.
NoCalMike Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 6-4 A's in the top of the 7th. Come on A's..Hudson shaking off a rocky start.
NoCalMike Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Alright 8-4 now...bottom of the 8th about to start. I am following this on the puter in school. I hope my bursts of excitement don't interrupt the other folks still taking the test, LOL.
NoCalMike Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 SHit, Yankees making some noise in the bottom of the eighth......Dammit Mecir, come on.
Kahran Ramsus Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Ted Lilly is in some kinda zone tonight. Only 2 hits for the Twins through 8 and he's probably done for the night with a 6-1 lead. Twins can never hit Lilly, and Radke's a piece of crap. They can't hit Batista either apparently.
NoCalMike Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Well, the A's bullpen proves to be worthless and disgraceful as they blow an 8-4 lead, and it is now 10-8 yankees.......Did I mention that I hate the goddamn yankees.....FUUUUUUUUCK.
Bored Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Luckiest inning ever. Beyond Sierra's double there wasn't one hard hit ball by the Yankees, just little grounders that I couldn't believe got through. Just a sickening way to lose this.

Beyond Sierra's double there wasn't one hard hit ball by the Yankees, just little grounders that I couldn't believe got through. Just a sickening way to lose this. Ok, well that helps ease me a little. Since I am following at school on the puter, all I get to know is the technicalities, not what everything looks like, but still......
Guest OctoberBlood Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Chad Moeller just hit for the Cycle. Always liked him in Arizona. Congrats. Now, Wagner .. get through this and lets win.
NoCalMike Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 A's have a runner on coming up to bat..............Frank Menechino!?! Great....game over.
Bored Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Okay what was Ken Macha smoking? Pinch hitting for Scutaro instead of Menechino? Unreal. RELEASE THAT LITTLE PIECE OF SHIT ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Menechino is just horrible and he was even getting heckled by his own fans this weekend. He hasn't hit a fucking thing since the first half of 2001 and has zero range defensively. The only thing he can do is get hit by a pitch.
Bruiser Chong Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 That inning was brutal. Looking at the score, you'd assume the Yanks finally hit the ball well, but like Bored said, aside from Sierra's double, there wasn't a hard-hit ball. Rincon just absolutely sucked out there, hence the endless string of walks. I'm watching the Phillies / Cards game somewhat and it's funny because Joe Buck was reading scores from around the league and noted that the score of the A's / Yanks game was 5-4, A's. And that was two minutes ago. A bit outdated I'd say.
Kahran Ramsus Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Uh oh...things aren't looking too good right now. Fucking Lightenberg. Cut him!
Kahran Ramsus Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 And now they bring in Speier. About time.

When Howe left, I was pissed that Macha just fell into the job. The A's have talent, but they need a real manager out there.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Drama brewing in Kansas City. ROyals down one in the bottom of the 9th. Bases loaded, one out.
treble Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 You gotta love the Blue Jays bullpen. Batista's best start of the season is wasted and the Twins are a sac fly away from winning the game.
treble Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 I guess a homerun will do, too. Having Jones on one of my fantasy teams takes some of the sting out of it, I guess, but it still fucking sucks.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 I passed out at 8-4 an was woken up by a phone call at 8-6, no outs bases loaded, telling me what was going on.
Bruiser Chong Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 This Cubs / D-Back series is just incredibly depressing. Mitre seems to have a good start and then a bad start. It's already looking like it's over, as it's now 6-0 and Baker went to the pen early. Unfortunately, he brought in Wuertz, who's just been horrible. And the two chances the Cubs have had to score, they've blown it. And why? Because they're a power team and if they're not hitting home runs, they're blowing big scoring chances. I'm already stressed as it is, but this is just making it unbearable.
Kahran Ramsus Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Having Jones on one of my fantasy teams takes some of the sting out of it, I guess, but it still fucking sucks. Me too.
Guest OctoberBlood Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Wow. Just as I predicted... with my sig and all, Graves blows another one.
Vern Gagne Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Props to the Twins pen. Another outstanding performance. Which in the long run will suck, if the starters can't get their act together.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 I feel sorry for the Expos. They're 5-16. So far, they've scored 36 runs, 30 LESS than the next team. They've got a team OBP of .260, and a team Slugging Percentage of .288. All are last in the league by a wide margin. If Nick Johnson and Carl Everett don't make it back soon, this could be the worst team in baseball history. And I blame Bud Selig. On a bright note, Philadelphia pitchers lead baseball in not walking anyone.
