Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 No Dr. J in the dunk contest, but you have Harold Minor??? Dr. J nailed the foul line dunk *YEARS* before Jordan. Actually, Dr. J was well past the foul line when he started the dunk. No knock on Dr. J's ability it's just always been an overrated dunk IMO. I've heard Bill Bradley was a excellent outside shooter. Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Jason Richardson is quite possibly the best dunker ever honestly. Well for right now. In a few years, someone else will boggle the mind with their dunks. but his catching the ball off the backboard and between the legs, his attempts at the 360, between the legs and 360, elbow deep dunks from this year combined with that sick reverse between his legs off the bounce with the left hand shit from last year all trump anything else I have ever seen. Guest Redhawk Report post Posted April 27, 2004 There was a shoe commercial from a while back that showed Kobe doing some unreal dunks. I know at least one of them was fake, where he was like feet-level with the rim, but there was one where he came from the side, did a 360 while wrapping the ball around his waist and dunked. It looked real, and if it was, it had to be one of the best dunks I'd ever seen. Does anyone know whether it was real or not?
Guest NCJ Report post Posted April 27, 2004 It's funny me and a friend were just talking about this the other day. Dunk Jordan Dominique Dr. J Jason Richardson Vince Carter Isiah Rider James White(someone said Earl Manigault and he was never in the league. White is one of the best dunkers I have ever seen) Shawn Kemp David Thompson Lebron James Three Point Peja Larry Bird Steve Kerr Reggie Miller Jerry West Ray Allen Dan Majerle Glen Rice Dale Ellis Michael Jordan(would be nice to see Jordan lose at something, even though as competitive as he is he would still try to put up a fight.) Hot commercial though.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Michael Jordan(would be nice to see Jordan lose at something, even though as competitive as he is he would still try to put up a fight.) He actually was in it one year, wasn't he?
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted April 27, 2004 He was, and I remember he got a pretty low score, like an 8 or a 10. I don't remember Reggie Miller doing so hot in the one year I saw him in it, but I'd put him in my fantasy shootout anyway.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Reggie lost by one point in the finals to Glen Rice in 95.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Wasn't Reggie in it another time? I swear I saw him get somewhere between a 13-15 one year and didn't make it to the Finals.
The Electrifyer 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Jason Richardson is quite possibly the best dunker ever honestly. Easily. Now that I've seen his dunks, he puts the 2000 Dunk Contest with Carter, T-Mac and company to shame.
Guest NCJ Report post Posted April 27, 2004 In game I still think that Dr. J and Dominique were the best that I have ever seen. They didn't care who was in the paint they were going to dunk on you. As far as competitions go JRich is the best NBA dunker I have ever seen. I would like to see him and a healthy Vince go at it just to see how far they would push it. Another thing you have to remember is that the younger players on our lists have more history to go off of. I honestly think that Nique could have pulled off the off the backboard through the legs in his prime, but he never thought to do it because no one was even going in between the legs back then. I still say the best single competition performance I have seen was White in the 2002 McDonald's high school dunk contest. He pulled out a bounce in between the legs windmill, a from the free throw line where he lost the ball and still put it down, and a two handed from the free throw line with ease. Guest Redhawk Report post Posted April 29, 2004 Looking at these lists makes me miss the days when superstars weren't afraid to enter the Dunk Contest. Now it's usally a bunch of rookies and backups, with the occasional standout player. The stars are too worried about damaging their reputation, something the Dominiques, MJs and Drexlers weren't bothered about.
