Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 I noticed that last week and this week they've been giving things 2 weeks (Benoit vs. Shawn, Eugene vs. Conway). Are they doing another 3 Minutes thing (two weeks notice?), minus it ending in the people getting attacked, or am I reading too much into this?

Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 well, yeah, but it seems kinda odd that they'd use 2 weeks both times. I mean, they usually use either that night, next week, or at the PPV.
justsoyouknow 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Maybe they realize that they have another month before they have a PPV, so they're trying to do a slow burn with their feuds. I actually like how they're doing it, as opposed to the "What, you've got a problem? Settle it RIGHT NOW!" that they've been doing forever.
Guest JMA Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Dinsmore and Conway apparently had one of the hottest feuds ever in OVW. It will be interesting to see how they work together in two weeks.
Guest JMA Report post Posted April 27, 2004 This is certainly interesting.
Dandy 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 They have done the two weeks thing before with the Michaels/Jericho rematch. I think they are just giving themselves time to build before the matches. They have a complete show between the show it was announced on, and the show the match will be on. The Eugene thing makes sense as now Regal will have 14 days to try to teach Eugene how to wrestle.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 27, 2004 They don't have a PPV this month, so this is their way to build to the big matches of the month. At least that's what makes sense, so knowing WWe it probably will have some silly meaning.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted April 27, 2004 For some reason I thought they meant NEXT WEEK (to coincide with HBK/Benoit) but I guess I was wrong. 2 Weeks from ttonight.........EUGENE vs. ROB CONWAY!! SMELL THE RATINGS! [toilet flushes]
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 27, 2004 Personaly, I believe its a great thing. It makes the match appear more important by saying "we need to hype it"...The excuse Bischoff gave for HBK/Benoit made the match more credible then it would have been if they just did it that night in Calgary.
OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2004 It could be used to boost ticket sales HBK/Benoit, not Dinsmore. It could be used to boost ratings by word of mouth. Again HBK/Benoit, not Dinsmore. And it lets them use the week before to do promos, etc. I like it.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 Ah yes, the Chris Benoit vs Doink Dinsmore match from the SmackDown after Vengeance. Happier times for SmackDown back then. The 2 weeks thing is just to announce matches, then have them take place during the month of May (sweeps). Yes, Eugene's debut in the ring is sweepsworthy. According to EWR, Rob Conway vs Eugene should result in a *****, 100% Match Quality bout. Time will tell.

I had a Goldberg vs. Scott Steiner match (regular rules) get a ***3/4 rating. This isn't 1999 Fall Brawl, and EWR doesn't have miracles. ESPECIALLY in the year 2003 (when I played it; I know its 2004 now).
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 28, 2004 I think they should just hype a MAJOR match every week to take place in two weeks and end the bullshit "impromptu" nature. Like Next week...Announce Chris Jericho Vs Christian in a STEEL CAGE #1 world title contender match to take place in San Diego (5/17)... Then Benoit/HBK do an ****1/2 30 minute classic in Phoenix...Then in San Jose (5/10)...The long awaited debut of Eugene...Jericho/X (5/17)...on the San Jose Show...announce another "main event" caliber match for the Rockford show (5/24)... If they keep the ball rolling like that from then on out...they can effectively make every show matter. I'm not saying every show should have a HBK/Benoit level match but something with two weeks hype=more importance to the matches, getting away from the randomness of it all. Guest JMA Report post Posted April 28, 2004 Ah yes, the Chris Benoit vs Doink Dinsmore match from the SmackDown after Vengeance. Happier times for SmackDown back then. I almost wish Dinsmore had stayed on as Doink the Clown (the EVIL~! version, that is). Evil Clowns > "Special" Wrestlers

iliketurtles 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 I actually was hoping they would announce HHH vs. Tajiri for the PPV just for something new. I like building for future TV shows, but it would be a nice touch if they announced a big match already for Bad Blood like 6 weeks before it's suppose to even happen. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 "Special Wrestlers" =Over. "Evil Clown"=Lame 1993 gimmick. Yeah, only Evil Doink WASN'T lame. And he was over, too. I'd say "heel clown" is more appropriate. Clowns ARE inherently evil, after all. It was smart of the WWF to take advantage of that. The only problem is you don't have a natural face adversary for them. A face mime? Lame. A ring master? Naw, that'd never get over. Of course, there's always Homey the Clown. He could get over as a bad ass face.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 So instead of things getting resolved that night or the week after, they resolve it in two weeks... either its a smart move to give matches a week hype build up, or its the height of procrastination since there won't be another Raw PPV for two months
ISportsFan 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2004 A ring master? Naw, that'd never get over. Only after they get rid of their manager and change their nickname. Jason
reign 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2004 I like the 2 week thing and hope that they keep it up...I'm tired of them acting like they only had 2 matches booked and then just let everybody who got pissed of at each other wrestle as if it were unplanned...it's like each week the NFL just lets teams loose at each other without scheduling match-ups...I mean what would the WWE do had Edge not come out and harrassed Orton..we wouldn't have had a the tag title match(which makes no sense). Advertise a little WWE...you would be amazed at what might happen
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2004 Pffft...you people and your logic..throwing it around like it means something... They are probably just recycling booking napkins and "two weeks" keeps popping up. /jaded smark. In affect...it is a great idea... and everyone will tune in next week to watch Benoit/HBK... though maybe not Dinsmore/Conway in two weeks unless they can do something to make the fans care... I mean...having him as Bisch's nephew means that heels can not attack him, or they would face the bosses wrath...so it's really hard to make people care about that match... cause he's (in affect) a FACE with HEEL backing. That's just fucking odd. That's like if the Jericho that is around right now had Paul Heyman for a manager.

You have a point there with Eugene as a face with heel backing but I like it...it's a different angle...I've always thought that a good way to get sympathy pops would be t have somebody who is over as a face get stuck with a heel controlling their actions and with Dinsmore he has both EB and Regal although if the WWE is smart they would have Regal stay tweener for a while...I wouldn't mind a Regal face run with maybe La Res. beating down Regal and Eugene defending him...and it all goes dow in TWO WEEKS!!!(had to stay on topic)
