EDIT: Disregard my reply. I was pissed off about something and was taking it out on innocent e-people. Sorry.

The eight-man match didn't get a particularly good review. Shame, because that was the stand-out match for me.

And now Simon Diamond is known as Pat Kenney... :D

This doesn't sound up to the quality of the last few shows, but there's still Killings/Styles to go.

Erik Watts is a recognizable name? WHAT?

Come on, who doesn't remember the Master of the Botched Dropkick?

Keller's report from the Torch so far:

-Christopher Daniels delivered the anti-pirate-box sermon of the week. He threw in that he was the best looking, most talented X Division worker, too.

-The show opened with clips of Raven attacking James Storm on last week's program, costing him his NWA Title cage match against Jeff Jarrett, including Storm asking Vince Russo to put James Storm in his place and then Russo announcing A.J. Styles got the shot instead. Then highlights aired of Styles winning the title.

-A.J. Styles was shown arriving at the arena. Tenay said he had a big announcement to make about his title and the NWA.

1 -- TEAM NWA (Elix Skipper & Jerry Lynn & Christpher Daniels & Chris Sabin) vs. TEAM AAA (Hector Garza & Heavy Metal & Mr. Aguila & Abismo Negro)

Tenay and West talked about Daniels earning the right last week to replace Sonjay Dutt in Team NWA. They plugged the four-team America's Cup tournament coming up featuring Team AAA, Team NWA, Team Canada, and Team Japan. Team Canada's Scott D'Amore came to ringside. Tenay asked him about the new captain, Petey Williams. Rapid-fire tags early with Team NWA dominating over Team AAA. Skipper had a botched exchange with Negro. The match totally broke down into chaos at 7:30 with a series of flying spots including Sabin diving onto Negro and Lynn at ringside. Garza slipped attempting a moonsault and landed awkwardly sidways. Skipper then applied a half nelson submission. Aguila and Daniels went one-on-one with Daniels missing his Best Moonsault Ever. Daniels came back with a rolling cradle for a surprise three count.

WINNERS: Team NWA at 11:23.

STAR RATING: *3/4 -- Star rating all for the interesting spots because otherwise it was a discombobulated eight-man mess void of any longterm selling or psychology.

-An ad ran for the May 26 World X Cup tournament with the 16 Man Gauntlet, Ultimate X, and Ladder matches.

-Tenay stood center ring and introduced A.J. Styles. Styles came out and thanked TNA and the fans for standing by him through thick and thin. He then said he wouldn't be defending the NWA Title this week due to injuries from the cage match, but next week he'd defend against Raven. Then the seven-months pregnant B.G. James, Konnan, and Ron Killings came out and complained that Raven was getting a title shot before Killings. Killings got in his face and dared him to make a move. Vince Russo then walked outa nd stepped between everyone. James told Russo he saved him in Vancouver when Billy Gunn was going to attack him. Konnan said he was the man who started a petition to save Russo when everyone wanted him out of WCW. Killings said he stood behind him when no one else would. Russo then cited all the favors he did for them over the years. Konnan said, "That's all fine, but what have you done with the 3 Live Krew lately." Styles interrupted and said he is his own man and won the title on his own without Russo's help. He said he'd defend the NWA Title against each of them. He said Killings wants the title shot the most. Styles offered Killings a title shot in one hour. Russo tried to talk Styles out of it as Killings accepted the challenge.

-A promo aired with Kid Kash & Dallas, saying they are superior to previous NWA Tag Team Champs.

2 -- KID KASH & DALLAS vs. D-LO BROWN & APOLLO -- Night stick on a Pole NWA Tag Team Title match

West and Tenay talked about how ridiculous it was for Kash & Dallas to claim they were superior to previous long-running tag champs because they hadn't proven themselves yet. The two teams brawled to the ring. Kash opened against D-Lo. Kash hit D-Lo with a moonsault at 3:00 and went for the cover, but the ref wouldn't count yet because pins don't count until the night stick is taken down. The night stick fell off the pole, so they decided a referee would hand the stick to the first person to touch the top of the pole. That's a bit embarrassing for TNA. Apollo got the night stick after he touched the top of the pole. D-Lo ended up with it a few seconds later and he bashed both Kash and Dallas with it. Apollo backdropped D-Lo over the top rope onto Dallas at ringside at 6:30. Kash dove at Apollo in the ring, but Apollo caught him and slammed him. At ringside, Dallas whipped D-Lo into the ringside barrier, then hit Apollo with the stick in the ring leading to Kash rolling up Apollo for the win.

WINNERS: Kash & Dallas at 7:37 to retain the NWA Tag Team Titles.

STAR RATING: * -- A bit of a mess.

-A video aired of clips of Goldy Locks doing the various characters. Hudson then attempted to interview Abyss in the bowels of the arena. He bumped into Goldy and told her she hadn't been in make-up yet. Goldy said she has been away for a few weeks and wasn't these people Hudson claimed. She said not to insinuate she's crazy and said the last guy to suggest that ended up in rough shape. She told him to get out of there.

3 -- ABYSS vs. SABU

Abyss attacked Sabu early, then Sabu dove onto him att ringside at 1:00. They brawled at ringside. Sabu set up a table at 2:00. Sabu worked over Abyss in the ring including a chairshot. By 5:00 they were ringside again where Sabu leaped off a chair and legdropped Abyss through a table. When Sabu had Abyss pinned, Goldy came to the ring and distracted the ref, then slapped him. Sabu yanked Goldy into the ring by her hair and set up a powerbomb. Abyss hammered Sabu from behind and then lifted him into the torture rack. Abyss, though, caught a charging Sabu with the Black Hole Slam. Goldy got into the ring as Abyss threw the ref out of the ring. That led to the bell. Erik Watts ran out with a baseball bat and saved Sabu. Abyss and Goldy fled. Tenay said once again Raven was nowhere to be found when Sabu was in trouble.

WINNER: Abyss at 7:50.

STAR RATING: * -- A few cool stunt moves and decent brawling.

-Hudson interviewed Sonny Siaki, Desire, and Simon Diamond. Simon said his real name is Pat Kenney and he never wanted to be called Simon Diamond, but he did so because that's what others thought would be best for him including Johnny Swinger, his former friend. He said he is 100 percent Irish. Hudson called it a "huge bombshell."

-Glenn Gilberti, Johnny Swinger, and Trinity cut an in-ring promo mocking Kenney. Trinity announced they're to be known as The NYC (The New York Connection).

4 -- GLENN GILBERTI & JOHNNY SWINGER & TRINITY vs. "IRISH" PAT KENNEY & SONNY SIAKI & DESIRE

West said using his real name is like a rebirth for Kenney. After Kenney took a beating for several minutes, he finally hot-tagged Siaki. Siaki blocked a Trinity low-blow attempt, but Gilberti and Swinger attacked Siaki. When Trinity tried to interfere, Desire went after her. Trinity came out on top, stomping Desire at ringside. In the ring, Trinity leaped onto Siaki's back. Desire then entered the ring officially against Trinity. Desire got in the first shots, drawing a pop of female screams from the crowd. The ref kept stopping Desire from using closed fists. Swinger tripped Desire coming off the ropes. Trinity then grabbed a chair, but Siaki yanked it away from her. Desire then school-boyed Desire for the three count.W

WINNER: Kenney & Siaki & Desire at 7:04.

STAR RATING: *3/4

-Raven comandeered a camera backstage. He said he has been called may dergatory things in his life, but never a liar. He said if he says he has Sabu's back, he has it. He said Vince Russo shook his hand and said he'd have the match, then he changed his match. He said he wouldn't whine about it and he was fine with jumping through hoops to get what he wants, but Russo and everyone else along his road is going to pay. Raven said James Storm is first. He said Russo has created a Raven he can't possibly control.

-They went to Mike Tenay and Don West at ringside. An older guy walked behind them in the midst of a big yawn in the unintentionally, unplanned funny moment of the show.

-Hudson interviewed Storm backstage, who began with the "Crusher" Jerry Blackwell signature line, "Let me tell you something!" Storm said he is a pretty good wrestler, but an even better fighter. Kash interrupted. He told him he is sorry for his partner being hurt. Storm said now wasn't a good time and he was in a bad mood. Kash laughed and said, "I don't care." Kash went on to say he and Dallas were already a better tag team than America's Most Wanted ever were. He said the reason he was sorry that Chris Harris was hurt was because he wanted to do it himself. Storm said he'd leave him with some food for thought, then attacked him with a barrage of punches. Hudson asked for some help to break them up.

You'd think after Ultimate X they'd find a way to keep the bloody things stuck up there. Come on, Styles/Killings, save this show...

I don't know about abysmal - Abyss/Sabu and the eight-man match sound decent, and there's Raven/Storm and Styles/Killings to go - but it certainly sounds disappointing. It's still better than Smackdown, albeit at $10 more...

Has Sabu won a match in TNA?

Three of nine according to my stats.

Edit - In more detail:

17/7/02: Ladder Match: Sabu defeated Malice.

7/5/03: Triple Threat Match: Sabu defeated New Jack & The Sandman.

25/2/04: Raven & Sabu defeated The Gathering (C.M. Punk & Julio Dinero).

He's had a few no-contests as well.

5 -- RAVEN vs. JAMES STORM

After a brief opening flurry by Raven, Storm dominated. He whipped Raven into the security railing in the opening minute. He punched away at a breathless, stunned Raven. Storm drove Raven backward into the railing twice at 1:30, then he crotched him over the railing. He followed with a clothesline. Storm brawled with Raven in the crowd, dominating offfense, including choking Raven with a chair. Raven finally made a comeback and went to a crossface chickenwing in center ring at 5:00. He held it for a while. Storm finally escaped and went to work on Raven with some clotheslines and near falls. He set up the superkick at 8:45, but Raven blocked it. Storm then hit an enzuigiri for a near fall. Dallas came out as a distraction, and then Kash KO'd Storm with the night stick. Raven then DDT'd Storm and scored the three count. Kash and Dallas beat up Storm as Raven returned to the back.

WINNER: Raven at 9:50.

STAR RATING: **

-A taped promo aired with Jeff Jarrett vowing revenge on Vince Russo for costing him the NWA Title. He said he has forgotten more about wrestling than he'll ever know (which if you think about it, could mean Jarrett once knew a little, then forgot it, and now knows almost nothing, whereas Russo now knows slightly less than Jarrett once knew, but more than Jarrett now knows. Think about that.)

-Tenay and West plugged next week's show featuring Amazing Red vs. Sonjay Dutt to earn an X Title shot against Frankie Kazarian.

-A video package aired on the Shane Douglas-Michael Shane situation, with M.S. telling Douglas it was time to step aside, just as he once told Ric Flair to do (without saying Flair by name).

-Hudson interviewed Erik Watts, who complained about Goldy Locks destroying his life, causing all kinds of problems with him financially and other areas. He said she needs to be woman enough to deal with a break-up and not try to destroy him. Hudson asked if Watts was sure it was her, as if he had some reason to doubt Watts. Watts said he didn't have proof, but a lot of evidence indicated so. Goldy then barged in and hysterically denied anything. Abyss then attacked Watts from behind.

6 -- A.J. STYLES vs. RON "THE TRUTH" KILLINGS

Jerermy Borash handled the long "big fight" style ring introductions.

6 -- A.J. STYLES vs. RON "THE TRUTH" KILLINGS

Jerermy Borash handled the long "big fight" style ring introductions. After some early lock-ups, Styles favored his ribs. West and Tenay said Styles accepted this match too soon after his cage title win. They agreed even giving Raven a title shot next week was surprisingly soon for him to defend the title. Killings methodically worked over Styles with matwork. Styles came back with a dropkick out of nowhere followed by a flip dive over the top rope to the floor onto Killings at 5:45. Back in the ring Styles took Killings down with a dragon screw armdrag. He then kicked at Killings, who was flat on his stomach on the mat. When Styles went for a dropkick, Killings stepped aside and the ref took the blow. Killings then scored a visual fall on Styles with a small package, but the ref couldn't count. Killings went to check on the ref, so Styles rolled him up and scored a three count at 9:05. Both referees counted different shoulders, and each raised the arms of each wrestler. They argued over who deserved the title. Russo ran out followed by Konnan, and James. Borash then announced that Russo decided due to the lack of decisive winner, the match would continue. At 10:30, after a 90 second pause, they restarted with a series of near falls with Styles reversing a cradle roll-up for a pin.

WINNER: Styles at 11:10 to retain the NWA World Hvt. Title.

STAR RATING: **3/4 -- Okay main event, nothing more. At least they restarted the match and didn't hold up the title.

-As Styles celebrated his win and as West and Tenay plugged next week's PPV, Ravenn attacked Styles. He DDT'd him on the stage and then trash talked in his face with the NWA Title belt in his hands.

Not a bad finish to the show, though I'd rather Killings/Styles continued than going back to Styles/Raven.

Styles vs. Killings should have gone longer after restarting instead of restarting and then ending in a pin in 10-15 seconds.

As for next week's show, I hope Raven vs. Styles can be even better than their previous match last year considering that Raven's singles matches haven't been that impressive in a while, though Styles shouldn't lose the title too soon.

So...for those that actually saw the show, thoughts? I skimmed through the results and it doesn't sound too hot. Is it worth getting a replay?

Keep in mind my not ordering is not an indictment of the product but more legistics of my own situation. I'm at school with no PPV, so I either need to have it ordered and then sent by tape and watch a few days later, which is a hassle unless it's for a major show (I'm still waiting for Pride to get here!), or wait until I'm home for a weekend, which I won't be for a couple weeks. I probably would have ordered the show, coming off a hot last week. Anyway, thoughts?

What a boring, boring show. Everything sucked ass, except Styles/Killings which I placed around **. Slapnuts, avoid this show.

IDIOTS.

First, they do Styles/JJ with no build-up and no advertising. Then, to show how fucking clueless they are, they follow-up with Styles/Killings - AGAIN with no build-up or advertising. Fucking. Morons. These idiots don't have a clue how to make money. Giving Raven a shot next week is also silly - put some build into it. At this rate, JJ will have the belt back in three weeks as Styles will have blown through all the challengers.

You're exactly right. Why give Raven the title shot next week if he's going to fail again in fulfilling "his destiny" and have no build-up in the process?

I guess Russo's starting to lose some steam because last night, the show really went down in quality.

Honestly, they gave away a match between AJ/Killings. This is a match that the fans honestly wanted to see, and with buildup and proper time could have been an awesome match. But unfortunately they figured it would be a better idea to do it this way and get absolutely nothing positive out of it.
