Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted May 7, 2004 A big story going around today is the possibility of Bobby Heenan returning to WWE. Wade Keller of www.PWTorch.com is reporting that Heenan would be involved in some of the upcoming DVD/video releases, as well as working with WWE's upcoming video-on-demand feature. Heenan would host the shows and/or do some voiceover commentary work. The feeling is that Heenan's knowledge of older wrestling would make this job perfect for him. There were rumors going around that Heenan would be returning as a commentator for Smackdown, along with Michael Cole and Tazz, but that doesn't seem to be the case right now. Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2004 Alright, I understand the guy had throat cancer, and I will always have a place in my wrestling heart for Bobby Heenan.... But why the fuck is the WWE bringing him in for VOICE OVER work? Listening to his voice now compared to years ago is almost hard to bear. In fact, bringing him now, looking & sounding like death would ruin his legacy of greatness.

He should only appear at Wrestlemanias... and MAYBE if they release DVD's with classic matches, he could throw in his 2 cents on the leadup to the match, match itself, crowd reaction, locker room reaction, etc.

DCMaximo 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2004 I thought that Heenan said his voice was a side-effect of the cancer that would fade with time and that he'd be talking normally again by the summer.

You are correct sir. That's exactly what his docs told him.

Its just with the recent decline of society, I thought you thought that the correct spelling of the word came with a "z". And since I've been hearing about Heenan's return for the past three or four years, I'd prefer to discuss it when it happens. Okie dokie?

Okie dokie? then don't respond then And this could be just like every other time its been said however they gave out specifics on where Heenan would be working with. which is a little more than him telling a friend on the phone that he'll be working with then WWE. Guest CronoT Report post Posted May 9, 2004 I think he'd be great with Cole/Tazz. Crap, dump Cole, and put Heenan in his place. Michael Cole combines all the suck of the Coach with all the heat vacuum that is Al Snow's commentary.
caboose 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2004 Heenan would completey over shadow Cole and Tazz. And you can't stick him on Raw, he'd just make Lawler look like a complete chump.

teke184 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2004 Heenan's perfect for doing intros to a lot of the old stuff, especially the AWA, Georgia, any mid-western territories like The Sheik in Detroit or Dick The Bruiser's in Indiana, pre-94 WWF, WCW circa 1994-2000, etc. The oldest stuff is the stuff he's going to be the most useful on, as he can tell old stories about guys like Ken Patera, Big John Studd, The Sheik, Killer Karl Kox, etc. and make the average fan today interested in them. (From all the stories I've heard about Kox, he's a riot. Heenan told one story about Kox wanting to get fired from Georgia in which he put a chocolate bar in the back of his tights, took a bump on his BUTT, stuck his hand in the gooey mess, then brought it up to his mouth and licked it.)
