Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2004 Here we ago again... Whose gonna mention the countless Standing o's and all that rah-rah bullshit. It's always ONE idiot that just has to say Benoit sucks and the whole thing gets cross-eyed. There's a difference between stating a personal opinion and outright denying the facts that prove it to be an uniformed one. Sanyo said that Benoit isn't over. Personal Opinion: Benoit sucks. Fine, whatever. Your choice. Fact: Benoit IS over. The proof is on RAW. There are probably 3 or so guys on the RAW roster (HBK, Y2J and HHH) that can out-pop Benoit, but that doesn't mean it happens on a consistent basis. But there is not a man on the roster who can get the crowds emotionally involved in a match like Benoit. Eddy runs a close second but Chris trumps everybody in that dept. If you want facts for that, watch Royal Rumble 2004. The focus of the match was not always on Benoit but his story was always kept alive by things he did to get the crowd on his side (ie. eliminating Mark Henry which got a very large pop and the perfectly drawn-out elimination at the end) Sanyo said that Benoit wasn't over. I've clearly shown there's a difference between saying that and "Benoit sucks". BTW, he gets more standing O's then anybody on the roster too. *Uncrosses eyes*
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted May 9, 2004 Sanyo's just having fun riling up Benoit fans. I wouldn't even be surprised if he was one himself. Anyway, I couldn't resist so here's the official Benoit Standing Ovation List: Rumble After the match against Nunzio on Smackdown Against A-Train the night after the Rumble on a house show Against the Big Show on one of their international tours Against Lesnar on the rescent Smackdown show Would've had one in Halifax after the Big Show match if Lesnar's music hadn't come on. MSG at Wrestlemania after cameras were off Raw after Wrestlemania after cameras were off And there were others too.

Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted May 9, 2004 Wildpegasus, Benoit got several standing ovations at Raw a few weeks ago in Calgary, both during the show and post-show. Cool. I heard he got a thunderous ovation against Lesnar on a house show from Edmonton too and then there's the one when he came back from neck surgery. I'm trying to think of some WCW ovations now because he was over there. He might've gotten one after a match against Marty Janetty on Nitro after he took out the flock but I can't really remember. Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted May 9, 2004 Massive "Benoit" chants, I couldn't believe it. Keep them coming. Let's see how long we can make this list for that "uncharasmatic" little wrestler that we were told so vehemently that nobody would ever want to watch. Wild Pegasus vs The World -- Benoit's winning baby! One more -- At the autograph signing in Halifax. Super Benoit chants.

I can't remember for the life of me. That does remind me though that the crowd was pretty electric for the Benoit/Jericho vs HHH/Austin Raw match.
Jericho2000Mark 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2004 Not sure if this counts, but he got a HUGE standing ovation at Edmonton City Hall a few weeks back, I was there. There were only like 300 people, but EVERY person was chanting his name and it was almost deafening. Heck, I started most of those "Benoit" chants myself. He also got a huge reaction after BackLash, in the Post-Match segment with Triple H & Micheals, but he didn't milk it, so I'm not sure it counts as an ovation. Of course, that was in his hometown. I heard several "Benoit" chants during his Raw matches for the last few weeks.

Guest Coffey Report post Posted May 9, 2004 Jamie "Bah Gawd" Noble. Seriously, he's a great worker. He's a great bumper. He took a pretty dead end gimmick and made it damn entertaining. He does what is ask for him, and doesn't seem to complain when having to do the job. On top of all that, he can talk well too, especially in character. He has a good moveset, a couple decents finishers and from what I know has always pretty much been healthy. If I was going to build the Cruiserweight division around someone, it wouldn't be Rey Mysterio Jr., it would be Jamie Noble. He seems to be able to garner heat as a heel. I wonder what would happen if WWE tried to push Noble as a face? Would he be excepted by the audience? Jamie Noble has been surrounded by logic gaps, such as his relationship with his "cousin" Nunzio. Nidia also switched shows and Noble got a new attire. Despite all the changes (some good, some bad), he still manages to entertains me more than almost anyone else on the roster (even if he only gets television time on Velocity). If WWE made some Noble merchandise (that fit me) I would be all over it.

Benoit started waving the Canadian Flag, and the place was deafening with "Benoit" chants, then Triple H interrupted and said something bad about us Canucks, he said there was no way he would tap to Benoit again, so he ran into the ring and Benoit made him tap...again(loud "You tapped out" chants BTW). Then Micheals came out and recieved the most heel heat for a wrestler I have EVER heard, live or televised. HUGE "You Screwed Bret" chants. Benoit said not only did he screw Bret, he screwed himself by tapping "tonight". I don't remember exactly what happened after that(had a little drinky-winky), but I think Micheals ran to the ring and Benoit locked him in the Sharpshooter and made him tap. Sounds good, with the obvious cheap heat - but hey, it's called for. And don't you think that by making Triple H and Michaels tap at such places and/or matches as WrestleMania XX and Backlash respectively trivializes it to a degree? Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted May 9, 2004 Chalk up Shawn Michaels. Since his return, he's been more or less on every week, has worked through a torn ACL, and has been having great matches, while putting over....not too many people, but he wrestled mid-carders before (Orton, Batista, Jericho in a midcard WM Match, etc.). Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Chalk up Shawn Michaels. Since his return, he's been more or less on every week Not really. For at least the first 6 months or so, HBK would only wrestle on PPV's, with an occasional Raw thrown in. After that, he started being more of a full-timer. Guest Choken One Report post Posted May 10, 2004 He was signed to a per date deal...agreeing to do PPVs and occasional raws...Remember the huge hype he would get for appearing on Raw...As matter of fact he went 4 months with working on Raw...I believe the match with RVD was his raw "ring return". Yup. Now him on RAW isn't too big of deal, but he's more than often in the hyped RAW matches when they don't have a PPV month.

Guest Coffey Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Jesus, people are still going on about RVD hurting people? He's black flagged. Once a fuck-up, always a fuck-up. That's why people ask for references when you apply for a new job. History matters. Those whom don't remember the past are doomed to repeat it. I still see Van Dam as a sloppy wrestler, so I have to believe that at any time he could randomly bust someone open. Sure, so could everyone else, but everyone else doesn't have a history of doing so. Personally, although I'm not the biggest Rob Van Dam fan, I wish people would find something new to talk about in regards to RVD as well. Hell, I wish all the same old things didn't get mentioned about everyone. Like Benoit's lack of mic skills, or Triple H being Triple H, Undertaker "no selling," etc.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Didn't you get the memo? We don't hate on Takers no-selling anymore since he adopted the MMA steez and I must say, is incorporating it nicely into his offense (his choke on JTB was sweet).

Guest hunger4unger Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Most reliable - Jericho. He can put over lower card talent and not lose heat, he can get over in ZERO time whether face or heel. He's accomplished in the ring, GREAT personality and Charisma and has pretty much stayed injury free.

Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 I'd count Angle as among the LEAST reliable people, since when he is injured, he never informs the front office so he can keep wrestling. Then his injuries get worse, he goes of r a quick fix, comes back, and starts the process all over again. Kane was injured during 2002, but I suspect that he a sympathy injury due to Kevin Naash having the EXACT SAME INJURY I'd say Jericho, Rico, Tajiri, and Christian are up there. I'd almost say Big Show, since he was willng to work through his injuries, but that is just like Angle.
Guest Dave Canadian Report post Posted May 10, 2004 RVD should go with the stoner gimmick. But that'll never happen. The personal trainer gimmick sounds cute though. Angle: RVD! You're late! You missed your match tonight! RVD: Dude chill! Sorry boss, but I was busy hotboxing my rental car with Rikishi and Scotty Too Hotty. Why? Because I'm R---V---D! Taker's non-selling no matter how you want to ee it is not a good thing. I don't care if it's "Part of his gimmick" or whatever. It makes his opponent look bad and that is never good. Guest Dave Canadian Report post Posted May 10, 2004 They should just change Taker's gimmick to "Mark Walker: Texas Ranger" Too bad Booker T will probably have to end off his career as "Papa Booker Shango"
Guest Coffey Report post Posted May 10, 2004 I've dubbed him "Walker: Texas 'Taker" in my circle of friends. "Walker: Texas Tapper" has also come up.
Guest Dave Canadian Report post Posted May 10, 2004 No kidding. It's sad to see WWE always constantly screw things up. Fine they screw up "WCW Concepts" like Invasion and nWo, but to screw up on their own creation "The Deadman"? C'mon now.
