Michrome 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2004 Ring Of Honor Round Robin Challenge III May 15, 2004 Lexington, MA (Yes...venue got changed again. Army comes before ROH) National Guard Armory 7:30pm belltime The Card: Round Robin Challenge 3: Whitmer/Maff, Punk/Cabana, Briscoes. Tag titles will be on the line in every match the champs are in. Ricky Steamboat will oversee this as the special guest referee. Non-Title Grudge match: Joe vs. Whoever turned out the lights in MN (Mystery payoff...probably) Homicide vs. Spanky Matt Stryker vs. Alex Shelley 6-way Mayhem: Acid vs. Strong vs. Walters vs. Masada vs. Izzy vs. Hydro The Carnage Crew and RCE will also be in the house. My thoughts: I think this card is going to be really strong. Cide will be brutal with Spanky, bringing across his new heel character. I hope the mystery is either real good, or I hope they delay it until 5/22, which I will be attending (ha!). Stryker-Shelley is the sleeper match of the night, as they showed a ton of potential at 1/10, and Shelley is RoH's next superstar. The 6-way will be the usual insanity, and the RRC should provide some good matches, since Briscoes-Saints was called MOTN in Chicago.
Tawren 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2004 I am not a fan of Homicide, so I don't really care for Homi/Spanky, but RRC3 and 6 man mayhem both look great. Stryker/Shelley also has potential.

Silence 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2004 Wouldn't surprise me if the mystery man is Low Ki, isn't he supposed to be at the World-1 show earlier in the day? Sounds coincidental, but isn't Low-Ki still on bad terms with ROH?
Michrome 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2004 Plus, he works with TNA. Not happening.
stahl 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2004 Does he have a contract with tna though? Only contracted talents were forced off of ROH shows. Either way I doubt it is Low ki.

Michrome 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 The funny thing is that War Of The Wire, despite being a poor RoH show, is like 10 trillion times better than any NECW Ive ever seen.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 From a work perspective, yes. But from an atmosphere perspective? Going to an NECW show is like being a little mark again. Plus...Sabotage fucking rules. Eddie Edwards is going to be a big indy name one day, mark my words.

thuganomics 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 I don't believe Low-Ki is under TNA contract, though if he shows up at ROH again I doubt we'll see him in TNA again. And just a note, CM Punk is actually under TNA contract too, they just choose not to use him so he's allowed to participate in ROH. What happens if they want to use him again before his contract is up, I don't know. And I'm just not a big Homicide fan, but I'm definitely looking forward to the return of Spanky. Michrome 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Somehow I doubt it, if you know CM Punk. He basically already told TNA to fuck themselves, and I doubt they want a huge legal issue over this whole thing.
thuganomics 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 I gotta agree with Michrome on that one. TNA would avoid the expensive legal procedures, cause Punk doesn't want to come back. Can't say I blame him. I could see a lot more stars shun TNA unless it really takes off with the FSN deal. And I'll bet we won't see Spanky in TNA ever.

Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2004 FYI everybody, the WORLD-1 show has been cancelled. http://www.pwinsider.com/ViewArticle.asp?id=2411&p=1# This doesn't affect me in the least since I wasn't planning on going to see W-1 anyway, but I figured I'd post it for the people who were going to see it. 2 days from seeing ROH live. I'm fucking hyped. This will be my 7th live show.
thecitythesky 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2004 [ Well, he is an ROH tag champ. What are the odds of TNA screwing ROH out of the pure AND tag title storylines except for the fact that TNA didn't pull styles and daniels and sabin to fuck RoH. the did it to protect themselves and their investment by being to only fed with a large amount of coverage to showcase two of the premiere workers in the country and someone who's on the verge of some really exciting stuff. Michrome 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2004 Oh, is that why they're now demanding 50% deposits and 15% of each worker's pay? To protect themselves? When you come back to earth, let us know.
JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2004 I'm really looking forward to this show for Homicide vs. Spanky and Briscoes vs. SCS. Not a huge fan of Whitmer/Maff, but their matches should be okay, too. Oh, and I hope Gabe has someone cool in line to bring in to face Samoa Joe. Hell, it could be anyone from Boogaloo to 2 Cold Scorpio, who knows. And I REALLY want to get the double shot from Chicago and Minneapolis, but I might wait to get 'em on DVD.
Guest Jay Z. Hollywood Report post Posted May 14, 2004 (edited) Corey, I'm wondering why you need to bring your girlfriend to wrestling PERIOD. I know your chick is clingy, but you can't take a weekend off? I do agree with you about Sabotage and Eddie Edwards. Adrenaline is great too- I've been watching Brian Fury since he was working E-level shows in the New Hampshire backwoods with crowds of 25 for the Lobsterman, and I could see he had potential even then. As for the ROH show- I'd put my money on Dan Maff as the mystery oppoent for Joe. He's the only major player connected to Homicide, and it would be a neat reorganization of the Prophecy with Homicide as the new leader, or that stable under a different name. Only problem with this scenario is he's already in RRC3. If the surprise is Ricky Reyes by himself, the Boston crowd will HATE it, since he's a total unknown in this region and I'd bet 3/4th of that crowd are easily agitated marks. thecitythesky 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2004 Oh, is that why they're now demanding 50% deposits and 15% of each worker's pay? To protect themselves? When you come back to earth, let us know. * this is major tom to ground control thank you... i certainly do appreciate your condecension. ... the 50% goes to the workers. and isn't designed to fuck any promotion. the 15%... my, you should probably start blaming Styles and Daniels for signing the contracts in the first place. they knew that TNA had pull over their outside bookings, and if they were terribly concerned about it, maybe they should've thought ahead. ....... and futhermore... maybe you ought to learn not to confuse issues. considering that the talent removal from the RoH shows had nothing to do with the outside booking issue. RoH has get exposure, and guys that also work for TNA worked there. guys they had under contract were getting massive praise and exposure working for a different company (moreso than they got for their TNA work... and with good reason). gearing up for TV, why would a company want their guys' work elsewhere to be at they forefront.? because then the question becomes... why not just put RoH on TV.? and now that you've finally got a spotlight of sorts... why put another company over.? pulling their talent from RoH shows was their right, and worked within the confines of contracts that their talent signed. because as much as indy wrestlers become associated with certain promotions... the fact of the matter is that no one is anyone's. until contracts get involved. which is the case in the TNA pulling talent situation... if you think is a shitty thing to do because it hurt RoH... that's fine, but grow up. it's the wrestling business. i would a assume that a "smartmark" would know that this is arguably the sleaziest business in the world (with music and film taking close 2nd and 3rd). everyone fucks everyone else over... it's about looking out for number one. and in this case... TNA has legally binding documentation to look out for number one for them. (i'm not taking sides... but to turn TNA's attempt to grow and to be the only large showcase for its talent into a desire to fuck RoH is assinine.) .... so... when you come back to earth and can focus on an issue, let me know. Guest Jay Z. Hollywood Report post Posted May 14, 2004 (edited) Okay, here's a new rule: How about we NOT talk about the ROH/TNA relationship until a new development comes up...and then, we confine it to ONE thread? In other words, next time a ROH thread goes offtopic into that realm, that person that started it is in trouble. Edited May 14, 2004 by Jay Z. thecitythesky 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2004 * no problem... wasn't my idea in the first place. * as for the show tomorrow... i think that the Whitmer/Maff matches are going to drag RRC3 down a bit. but that the SCS/Briscoes match should be good, as should Punk's interplay w/ Steamboat. ......
