Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted May 12, 2004 If it's serious then I think I'm done watching for a while. That's too much to take, especially considering the road trip was gonna be tough enough even with him. Someone on the ESPN Boards: Santo on WGN radio says sore elbow. Averaging about 115 pitches per April start couldn't possibly have anything to do with that, could it?
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 If it's serious, the Cubs are seriously fucked. They're just barely staying afloat while this great offense we supposedly have is trying to kick it into gear. Trading away Juan Cruz is looking pretty stupid right about now. Meanwhile, I think this game's over, as the Cubs are down five and with the Dodgers being as hot as they are right now, I don't see things changing. Boy, this night fell apart in a hurry. Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted May 12, 2004 the Sox win 15-0 and Wood gets hurt. Brilliant! in all fairness, I heard Wood got hurt hitting, so logic dictates that his arm didn't fall off. Yet. MUHAHA
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 C'mon, man, White Sox fan or not, no need to take joy in a player getting injured. But the word is a sore tricep and he'll be looked at tomorrow. *crosses fingers*

Bored 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 A's beat the Tigers in 15 innings. Justin Duchscherer is the hero with five shut out innings in relief, allowing just two base runners.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Glaus looks hurt. Another one bites the dust, and another one down, and another one down... another one bites the dust
Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted May 12, 2004 John Riedling has got to be one of the best relievers in the game right now.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted May 12, 2004 What? We proved that K-Rod isn't unbeatable, and we played a good game regardless.
Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Wow. Tim Hummel. God. Amongst. Men.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Not too many times Rodriguez, Rivera and Percival blow it in one game.
Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Good win Reds. Harang pitched very well, matching and beating David Wells. Griffey and Dunn homers, and Tim Hummel becomes Mr. Clutch with one damn good atbat. Graves proceeds to put men on base to make it interesting in the 9th, but holds on and gets the save. (I guess it's not a save until the tying run gets on the 3rd base for Danny Boy).

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Wow, what a game. FYI: If the Angels would have won, that would have been an unembarassing loss
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 So let's recap: - Cubs lose - Every other NL Central team has one, with the Pirates still battling it out in extra innings - Yankees win after blowing the lead and then tying it up - Pistons lose - Lakers win - Kerry Wood leaves the game hurt Yup, worst sports day ever. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Cubs are fucked without Wood and Prior. My Astros prediction is looking pretty accurate right about now.
Bored 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Not like you were going out on a limb picking the Astros. On a completely unrelated note Rob Neyer picks his Top 10 catchers of all-time. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor..._rob&id=1800264 1. Johnny Bench 2. Yogi Berra 3. Carlton Fisk 4. Bill Dickey 5. Gabby Hartnett 6. Roy Campanella 7. Mike Piazza 8. Mickey Cochrane 9. Gary Carter 10. Ivan Rodriguez
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 It felt like a limb because nearly everyone seemed to jump on the Cubs bandwagon after the Maddux signing. Every media article listed the Cubs as favorites.
Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted May 12, 2004 It felt like a limb because nearly everyone seemed to jump on the Cubs bandwagon after the Maddux signing. Every media article listed the Cubs as favorites. And since when are they ever right? Heh. I think its safe to say, whatever most of those media outlets say, you have to do the complete opposite. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 The problem is they listen to themselves too often, while the rest of us have read Moneyball, Bill James, and Total Baseball.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Matt Clement is our ace, we're fucked, we're fucked, we're fucked. Never mind that Clement is awesome right now--that's why I'm worried, he's been compensating for Prior's absence and may have to for Wood's too, then his arm will fall off. If Kyle Farnsworth is moved to #5 starter, cast your eyes to the heavens, as that's where the action's gonna be.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted May 12, 2004 This is one of the worst afternoon baseball games ESPN has televised in recent memory. The pitching has been horrible but the hitters have hardly capatilised on it. If Kansas City trades Beltran they better get themselves a good, young, cheap bat and pitcher at the very least.
