Guest Choken One Report post Posted May 14, 2004 I would love to see Beltran in a big market but Not box (nor would I want him on the Yankees)....

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2004 The trade has a 5% chance of actually happening, if that. Why trade value for Beltran when he'll be available this off-season anyway? For that matter, why acquire players now when there's a slew of available talent waiting this offseason?
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted May 15, 2004 Fuck Boston. They are the Yankees without the wins. I didn't know we paid on average $10mill for every position we field. That's news to me.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2004 Or the class. Jesus Damon wouldn't pull that shit here. Growing your hair and beard out is such a classless thing to do. Johnny D should apologize immediately for being such a classless individual.

As badly as people try to push the "Jesus Damon" or Caveman shit, it's getting harder and harder for Sox fans I talk to to deny that he looks like a homeless man. Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted May 15, 2004 well Jesus looked like a homeless man, who generally look like cavemen. In conclusion, Jesus was a homeless caveman. anyway, the Seattle/BoSox bit is actually ok, but Beltran for Freddy Garcia is just balls. Like Al said, they'd be better off with the compensatory picks then Garcia.

That still fails to equate long hair and a beard with classlessness, which, I should note, means you're equating me with being classless as well When I think classlessness in baseball, I think of the way Barry Bonds has acted over the last several years, not Johnny Damon just wanting to grow his hair and beard out

KingPK 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2004 (edited) All right, someone already brought this up in the TWiB thread, and this thread is spiraling off topic, so I'm closing it. If you want to discuss the trade, do it in the TWiB thread. EDIT: I thought about it, and I might have jumped too early. Let's just stay on topic here and not turn this into flaming or YET ANOTHER Sox vs. Yankees thread. Edited May 15, 2004 by Kingpk
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2004 Thank you for reconsidering. And I agree. Take the personal stuff to Hardcore Discussion.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted May 15, 2004 What "classless" things has Bonds done lately, not involving the media? One off of the top of my head is leaving the union so he could go with the "You want to use my name? Pay me" method. The man has more money than the next 3 generations of his family will be able to spend and yet he does this. The real people that suffer are the kids who want to play a videogame and be the biggest homer threat in the game today. Along with that I believe jerseys with the Bonds # and name have been pulled from racks as well.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2004 And I HATE how Bonds has to stand there and admire every single homer he hits. The fact that people jump all over a guy like Manny Ramirez when he does it (Game 5 of the 2003 ALDS, as an example), while ignoring Bonds doing it is really hypocritical. Along with that I believe jerseys with the Bonds # and name have been pulled from racks as well. How is that classless? He's getting fair value for his abilities, something for which ALL of us strive. The videogame thing is pointless. Three minutes of editing and you've got him in MVP Baseball. And I don't think a lack of $150 jerseys is hurting anyone.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2004 Just out of curiousity I looked up the word "classless", and it in fact is not synonymous with being an asshole Need to find a different word for it Like.... "asshole"
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted May 15, 2004 Al, as George Murisein(sp?) said so many years ago "And shoot one for da kids" Think of the kids man. 8 year olds are too stupid to edit the man. He doesn't need the extra money and a man with class would just say to hell with it and let the kids and other fans enjoy being his fan. It seems like he's alienating himself from them more and more through these acts though.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2004 Perhaps. But the way I see it, he's never been in trouble with the law. Same with Clemens. These "asshole" characters the media and fans love to tear down do nothing to earn those labels outside of their dealings with the press. The real assholes are committing crimes, raising havoc, and not contributing. Bonds hits, and that's my only daily viewing of him. Therefore, he's OK in my book. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2004 What's wrong with Johnny Damon growing his hair out? I'm growing my hair out. Does that make me a classless asshole? No. (Because I was one with short hair too.) I don't think there's a true correlation between well-groomed hair and no beard and success. Otherwise, the '89 Flames never would've won with that caveman McDonald at the helm.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2004 Badly-groomed teams..... 93 Phillies 70s Oakland Athletics It really doesn't matter, except from an image standpoint. Winning starts first and foremost with talent.
the max 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2004 Plus Damon has made a deal with Gillette, who are going to pay him a certain amount of $$$$ to shave off the beard and hair for charity. Knowing that it's in Boston, it's probably the Jimmy Fund. What a classless dick he is, indeed.

Knowing that it's in Boston, it's probably the Jimmy Fund. What a classless dick he is, indeed. I heard just the beard. Charity notwithstanding, we can't risk the hair. He may have developed a Samson complex, and we do want the Red Sox in the World Series, do we not?

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2004 It is on topic. Damon is part of this trade, and whether or not he has a Samson complex is vital to understanding his future value. Enough with the Thread police.
