Phoenix Fury Legdrop 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Alongside the Women's Tournament, Ian Rotten announced tonight on the IWA Message Board that it will be, in a six-man elimination match dubbed "Survival of the Stiffest", CM Punk teaming with Samoa Joe and BJ Whitmer to face the team of Chris Hero, B-Boy, and Homicide. JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Kinda funny for Punk and Whitmer (and Joe) to team up with the whole ROH storylines going on.
JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 I wouldn't be surprised if they gave that match close to a hour, and I also wouldn't be surprised if the fans are chanting "Match of the Year!" at the end of it.

No doubt. I REALLY am looking forward to this one. Anything else announced for the show? EDIT: Nevermind...women's tournament.
Guest The Horse You Rode In On Report post Posted May 16, 2004 I expected some sort of match with Chris Hero and CM Punk on opposing sides, an elimination match with those six could go all night long. It should also ensure anyone who may be turned off by the thought of a mostly women's wrestling show gives more thought to either going or buying the tape. Michrome 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 I think it's kind of Ian's way of admitting the tournament isn't drawing. Honestly, it's a bunch of crap to lecture fans about needing to be respectful about women's wrestling, and then booking an indy dream match on a women's show that will completely overshadow the girls. Slingshot Suplex 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 I would hope they are smart enough to realize they probably weren't going to fill the building with a women's tourney and some incidental men's matches. Besides, it seems like they said right from the start, that it wasn't going to be an all women's show. The Survival of the Stiffest match will get more people in the door. Then it's up to the women to try to impress. From everything I've been told, Dave Prazak's goal is to make a credible and competitive women's division in IWA-MS. The 6 man match will steal some of the thunder from the women's tourney but I don't think it will completely overshadow it. I'd be going if not for a pending vacation and car insurance and I can't spare a Chicago road trip on top of that.
Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted May 16, 2004 This may have been posted already, and I probably just missed it, but what are the Women's brackets?
Guest The Horse You Rode In On Report post Posted May 17, 2004 I don't think there are any womens tourney brackets yet, or if there are i can't find them anywhere.

Phoenix Fury Legdrop 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2004 According to the IWA Message Board "Upcoming Events" section, Sabu vs. Jerry Lynn has been added as a non-tourney match for 5/29, the tag tourney show.
