Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted May 27, 2004 I could predicts Williamsons' stint from a mile away. I can't believe he is actually thinking about starting with those mechanics. He wouldn't last.
treble 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 I can't find it anywhere on the net, but the ticker on TSN is saying that the Jays put Catalanotto on the DL and called up Alexis Rios. Him, Simon Pond, and Reed Johnson are probably going to split time among themselves in the corner outfield spots, but I'm interested in seeing whether or not this guy is the real deal. Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted May 27, 2004 Sauerbeck isn't a Red Sox anymore. They non-tendered him so he's a FA. According to the ESPN commentator Barry Bonds hit his 670th homer of the season tonight. At this pace he should reach 1,000 by July easy
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 Wow, there is some tension on this board. Maybe it is the Skyline Coneys that get us Cincy fans all worked up. Whoever pitched tonight for Florida made all of the reds his own personal bitches. Despite the good play and nice winning streak Cincy has some potentially fatal flaws begining to show. Perhaps the most important is the recent play of Adam Dunn. The last couple of years Dunn has gotten off to fast starts only to slow before completely stopping producing. Hopefully this is only a slump, but his approach resembles last year. Maybe Chambliss can straighten him out. Also last night during the victory I noticed Kearns took a bad swing at a ball and his hand came off the bat. He seemed to wince in pain and began flexing his fingers, he has already torn the ligament in his thumb once. He has not hit a ball hard since, and has struck out a lot since. Not only that but the bat keeps slipping out of the hand he was flexing, it happened twice on Monday, hopefully due to the rain. With every swing that hand flies of the bat, hopefully nothing is wrong. Also, the bullpen blows, they gave up another run on Tuesday. Even with the starters going 7 you know the bullpen will give up at least 1-2 runs, so you better have a lead.

geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 Indeed, that guy dominated my team. Is he really good, or is it just against the reds?

Cartman 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 I was always under the belief that the fans ARE part of their favorite teams. Without the fans going to see the games, there would be no teams.
Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted May 27, 2004 As I said, the Reds can't hit slop throwing lefties. They've been owned all year by them. Even by Shawn Estes.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted May 27, 2004 I think a four-man rotation would be a good idea for the Mets and Yankees. Hell yes. Have Leiter (when he comes back), Glavine, Trachsel (one of the ML's most underrated pitchers) and Ginter (he's looking good and pretty awesome for a guy they got for Timo FUCKING Perez). Put Seo in the pen. As for the Yankees, if Jose goes back to being the nutjob we all know and...well know out there, Brown, Moose, Javy, Lieber could cut it. And John Franco has always irritated the shit out of me, especially since he started wearing that obnoxious "C", so I enjoy seeing him do poorly. And Oriole fans, do to a mistake by the official scorer last night, you were beaten by Tanyon Sturtze. (In reality, it was Flash Gordon) Just think about that. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted May 27, 2004 And their's something funny about the Umps, who have sucked in every aspect of the game all year long all around the league, suddenly enforcing that necklace rule with Gabe White. If it was a manager doing it, it would be Billy Martin like. Didn't he do that to Oil Can Boyd?
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted May 27, 2004 I'm just curious why MLB is hurting itself by using Triple-A umps that aren't ready yet when they still have the resigned umps that are willing to swallow their pride, take a pay cut, and come back. For example the Orioles and Yankees game last night had a Triple-A ump behind the plate last night. This guy supposedly has about 5 years of experience umping and it showed. Even though I dislike the Yankees I can admit that Mussina's strike zone was non existent. One of the clips they ran showed that Mussina threw the ball right down the middle...thigh high and right over the plate, yet it was called a ball. That's just terrible
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 Wow, Adam Dunn going 0 for the series and striking out 3/4 of the time sounds familiar. I see no difference between this year and his past years, maybe he just is not that good.

I see no difference between this year and his past years, maybe he just is not that good. Wow. It's called a slump. Every great players go through slumps. If you can't tell a difference between this year and last year with Dunn, then I don't know what the hell you are watching. Plus, he just faced some of the best pitchers in the game the last few nights and a lefty, so give him so time. It's only been a few days. He went 2-2 with a double the other day, and 2-4 and 3-5 a few days beore that.

I'd probably call this a slump though if it continues then he might just be regressing big time(hit .249 in 2002 and .215 last year). Since May 15th, he's gone 7/43(.163) in 12 games and has struck out 20 times. I think if he wants to turn into a good hitter, he's going to have to cut his K rate down a lot and try and focus on making contact more(He has a .41 K per AB rate). geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2004 Its his approach this year that has not changed in my mind. In the year he went to the All Star Game he had a great first half by hitting the ball to all fields. Almost all of his home runs, and hits, have been to right field, he is still way too pull happy. I liked the double he hit off Clemens because he took a ball off the corner and went with it. To get Adam out all you need to do is drop breaking stuff on the corners, he has the power to hit to all fields for hits and home runs. He is dropping his shoulder and moving his front foot toward right field, trying to jack balls out, this is a stupid approach for him. I also hit left and throw right, I have gotten into this same habit before, it sucks. If Adam can ever learn to stay back and wait on the breaking stuff, flip his wrists, and let his natural power carry the balls into the left center gap he will be great.
