Guest Anglesault Report post Posted June 5, 2004 And I don't get why people gather to watch a bunch of cars go around the same oval 200 times, but different strokes for different folks and all. Hopes of seeing a Car crash. The only thing I can figure. So are we suppose to watch this in hopes of a 20 Horse pile up? Well, if you aren't trying to pretend that this is a sport (for humans) you don't have to justify watcing it. that certainty would be memorable and maybe Rock Hard 10 and Smarty can channel Richard Petty/David Pearson's 1976 Daytona 500 finish. I agree.

KingPK 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2004 Wow, first time I've ever won a bet on this big a race. I proabably won about $70, since I had it boxed, but I'll take it. Birdstone made his move at the perfect time and the track was just too long for Smarty to hold on. Good race, but it doesn't match up to the photo finish in '98 with Real Quiet. THAT was close. therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2004 Man $74 on a $2 win bet for Birdstone. I took $2 each on Purge and Rock Hard Ten. I knew I should've bet a longshot.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2004 (edited) Well, when there is $60 million bet on the favorite, any other horse would net a good payday. The superfecta was over $11,000. Heh, the winning owners are getting booed. Edited June 5, 2004 by Kingpk
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted June 5, 2004 Crappy day in general for NY sports. At least the Belmont was a good race.

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2004 Well I was at the OU baseball regional. Which they lost 17-7 to UCLA. But it was all good b/c I was right behind UCLA's dugout and pissing off there coach with my trash talk to the point that he flipped me off and that had the 3rd base ump screaming at him to get back in the dugout. But while I was there everyone ran out of the main area and into the concessions b/c they were showing the race. So I found out Smarty didn't win. I sat there for a while feeling really bad about it. Then I realized that I was feeling sorry for the horse. Like "Oh man poor Smarty. He must be dissapointed." Then I realized.....he's a horse. He doesn't give a damn. All he knows is that he's been being treated very well for the past few months and he's going to continue to get this treatment. His trainer said himself all he cared about was the Kentucky Derby. So it's not like he's going to treat the horse bad for not winning. So I realized I don't care that he didn't win b/c the horse himself(the only one i care about) doesn't care that he didn't win and it's not like he's going to get treated any worse. He's going to live out his days on a farm in Philly doing nothing but banging hot lady horses and eating. Damn horse has it better than most of us!
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2004 Poor Chapmans, as that nose length they lost by probably cost them 20 mil or so in what they could get for Smarty. It is all Billy King's fault. Fucker tried to mooch some luck off of Smarty and ending up giving the Sixers disease back instead. I will find it funny to listen to WIP this week and hear people calling in. For the past week people have been calling in saying this would be on par with a championship from the big 4 sports teams. That is bullshit.

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2004 Oh god! I just can't help but feel bad for the horse despite the fact that he doesn't know what's going on nor give a damn what's happening and he'll live the rest of his life like a king. But I still feel bad for him.
