Cuarón dropped a black shirt into that washing machine, and the result is more watchable and more appropriate for the material.

 

Although Cuaron is certainly a better director than Columbus, it isn't just his influence. The source material is much the same way, taking a darker and more character driven turn in the Prisoner of Azkaban. If you think this is dark, wait until the next two.
